The front desk clerk listened to my problem and I was placed on hold, she returned after a few minutes and I was able to be scheduled for an afternoon (same day) appointment. The clerk advised me to arrive early to complete paperwork. I am very impressed with the friendly and professional greeting upon arrival. Dr Font and her assistant were very professional. My rating is based upon the quality of treatment I have had in the last two years. The reason why I started going to Covenant Family Dentistry is because they had three experienced dentist. Unfortunately they only have one of the original experienced dentist left and he is said to retire this year. After having my teeth cleaned, I was seen by a dentist who did no cancer screening. When I brought this to the attention of the dental hygienist she apologized but said there was nothing she could do. When I went in for a chipped tooth, the dentist said I would need a crown but that he thought I should have it done by Dr. Zimmerman because he wasn't planning on staying with the practice very long. He made it clear to me twice that he wasn't interested in doing the crown but then the dental assistant talked him into it. Needless to say, I don't have much confidence in his abilities to do the crown correctly after twice, saying he didn't want to do it. The receptionist did tell me that they hoped to get some good dentist in the future and I hope they do find some good dentist to work for the practice, but in the meantime I need to be seen by experienced dentists that do good work.

However, I've been left in rather severe pain, told to go to the urgent care/ER (who told me they can't do anything and pain meds must come from specialists now), who again repeated those two dreaded words, "root canal." Do you set a broken leg by cutting out otherwise healthy tissue or what?? I contacted the dentist on call and per their advice, my pain has improved vastly but that's only due to their decades of knowledge and experience. This improvement also includes being able to touch my jaw up to the points of where the filling was replaced where it would obviously be sore for obvious reasons. (The dentist on call described my issue as a "charlie horse in my jaw" from having my mouth open past its natural stop for so long. Considering it was visibly spasming, I'd be very inclined to agree.) If something painful goes away with proper pain management, "root canal" doesn't need bandied about like a cudgel. I feel it was more money, more time, and a longer recovery with no consideration for my well being. I plan to fulfill my bill and retrieve my records and go someplace else. If I can get over my newfound phobia of dentists. This crap hurts.
