I had the most positive experience with Ron and his Writer's Workshop!…read more About a year ago, I had the awesome privilege of hosting 7 very talented and wonderful people that I manage for work in Austin for a week of brainstorm, team building, and educational sessions. The memories made during our writer's workshop will be will cherished forever. It provided an opportunity for us to share our writing strengths all while allowing ourselves to be a little vulnerable, too. Ron was not only highly professional, he was thorough, prompt, and kind, too. Unsure what a writer's workshop would entail, I wasn't so much hesitant as I was curious, but also a tad anxious as my respect as a manager was hanging in the balance. As a new manager to these aforementioned, wonderful people I wanted them to explore their creativity, but also have a positive experience as a newly formed team with a new manager. And thanks to Roy and his workshop they did. We still talk about this workshop...not so much about what we wrote about, but how it made us laugh.

I was one of those people who wished I had a more creative life, but never did anything about it…read more All that changed when I discovered Ron's writing table. You don't have to do anything but show up for a couple of hours, and you will find yourself transforming your blank page into stories that you can't believe came from your pen. No critics, no judgement, no expectations or word counts - only the joy of creating with some really fun and interesting people. Writing workshop is a highlight of my week, and one of the reasons I never want to leave Austin. I was afraid I wasn't good enough to hang with "real" writers, but I'm so glad I decided to try it. So happy he's added a south Austin workshop too!

Pro- learning in a classroom with the ability to ask questions or work through things you were…read morestruggling with. Pro/Con- it is (4) 9 hour days in a row. It is intense. It worked for me with my work schedule and how I learn but is a lot. Pro- Phillip the instructor was extremely knowledgeable, relatable and kind. I even connected with him after I passed the test and he was cheering me on then too! Pro/con- you learn way more information than you actually need for the test. You go into formulas and graphs and diagrams. All of it is extremely helpful information on how to do my job, but a lot of it was not on the test so I spent time studying and cramming things that I didnt need to know. Pro-They give you all of the study materials that you need. You do not need to buy additional books or study guides. It has a ton of practice tests and quizzes and really guides you where to look on the areas you need to focus on. A bit of background: I do projects and work in leadership but my title is nowhere near "project manager." I was learning all of the terms and formulas and all of it from scratch. It was a lot to learn in four days but that worked for me and my work/learning style. Overall, I would strongly recommend!

I took Project Management Academy's (PMA) PMP boot camp course in Norfolk, VA in November 2022…read more The course was well laid out, and was a good introduction to Project Management and what to expect when going through the certification process. PMA provided post-boot camp resources including reference material, and access to practice exams. The practice exams were difficult, and really challenged me. By the time I took the exam, I was thoroughly prepared and found the exam easy, and passed on my first attempt. What provided the most value for me was my course Facilitator, Mr. Jackson. Not only did he do a great job during the course, but he provided me assistance months after my course. He sent me additional preparation tools, reviewed my PMP application, and encouraged me when I became wary. One of my co-workers attended the course before I did, and although she had a different facilitator, her experience was very similar. Needless to say, I would highly recommend going with PMA if pursuing PMP certification.
