As well as having an office which is located centrally on Bedlington Front Street, they have staff who recruit via other methods including help stands which are set up around local malls and vans which offer advice and help which tour the local area. The main office is rather small and difficult to spot as it is not obviously signposted, however the address is 16C Front Street West, a building with upper floors and shops on the lower level. I replied to ask for feedback. No response. The job was for a PA with languages. I have over 10 years experience and speak THREE languages. Yet I'm unsuitable? Really?? She wouldn't even give me a chance. Nothing to do with my name not being Sarah Jones or Tracy Smith, then...? My guess is she saw my name at the top of my CV and binned me. She literally didn't even have the time to read through it.

Poor recruitment agency found in the town centre. On first impression they're very professional and…read morefriendly, but once you're on their books its unlikely you'll hear from them again. They specialise in catering and manufacturing vacancies, but never really seem to have much in the way of either on their jobs board, either on their website or the jobs board in their office. If you decide to register with them then you'll go through all the standard aptitude tests, which arent too taxing, and have an interview with an advisor. I've registered with them twice in the past - the first time (six years ago) it was ok, I was sent for an interview, but by the time they'd arranged a date, I'd got another job as it took so long. The second time (last year) I re-registered, went through the tests, and they did their best to get me to go to an interview for a job I was wholly unsuitable for, for less than half of the salary I'd specified. I'm flexible with regards to my salary, but I see no point in undervaluing myself so much or taking such a backwards career step. After trying for two weeks to get me to go along to see the employers, they got the message I wasnt interested and said they'd be in touch. that was ten months ago and I've heard nothing since, perhaps they blacklisted me or something, so its just as well that I've got another job. Scarborough needs a DECENT recruitment agency. Castle isnt it.

Reiver have been nothing short of excellent with me returning to work after a long time out of the…read moregame, and has been a pleasure to work for them. They have kept me busy with temp work. They live up to their slogan of "Personal about Personnel" also. They really do have that personal touch, being smaller and more focused. In October they hosted a temps night out dinner, which was lovely to be a part of. I never had this experience from any other consultancy. The two ladies who work there are genuinely doing their best for you, and invest in you. They like you to text them as soon as you get out of an interview if you can for example, as they like to be informed and are always interested and on the ball. My own experience of Reiver is perhaps best exampled by me previously being on a career break as a stay at home parent. All the bigger Edinburgh Recruitment Consultants would not give me any time or touch me with a bargepole. Thankfully Reiver are more considered and tuned in and look at the bigger picture. So much so, that I now only exclusively deal with Reiver for temping, even though they are not my nearest local agency. They are always a pleasure to deal with. Communication is always good, they are very supportive. My first assignment for Reiver was not right for me (which happens on occasion) and I was struggling with it, and had to leave. They were still very understanding and still stuck with me and the next assignment was perfect all round. They are less cut throat, and more measured than the bigger City consultants tend to be. They also have very modern and efficient systems in place, the payroll is excellent, always on time, and payslips get emailed. I am usually a bit of a moaner and grumbler with recruitment consultants, and their is often much to pick away at. I honestly can't fault Reiver however, highly recommended.
