This review is for Doctor Rani Maskatia. She was amazing! This was my first time seeing an allergist and trying to figure out the root for the causes of my hives and asthma. Dr. Maskatia took so much time to sit with me, listen to me and explain. I think she spent one hour with me. This was so wonderful to experience, since most offices have you in and out in 5 minutes. She was super compassionate and patient. She really took the time to explain what was going on and to explain my treatment plan. Pros- Dr. Joann Blessing Moore is skilled and knowledgeable without question. She's been doing this for quite some time. Staff for the most part are friendly and welcoming. Cons - Provide parking for clients. And if your hours are 8:30 opening you should open at 8:30 am. Not lock all the doors and open the door at 10 am. Allow the client to at least sit in the lounge. Been visiting almost a year now and other than the door incident I must say the employees there are very much like family. You get the vibe as if they are all very much in tuned with one another and work well as a team. I enjoy the efficient services they provide. read more

Never on time for appointments and lousy patient interaction. Dr. Blessing Moore was 45 minutes to 1 1/4 hours late for all four of my appointments. She was 45 minutes late even though I was the first appointment of the day! She hurries through your appointment, and simply throws a bunch of samples (some expired) from drug reps into a bag and sends you on your way. She actually recommended that I take several different inhalers and nose spays a day. That's over medicating if I ever heard it. Now on to the incompetent staff. All are way too young and inexperienced, and cant answer basic questions, locate test results or fill out a prescription that the doctor just gave them. Avoid this office at all costs. read more

She is Awesome!!! I have seen over 5 doctors for chronic hives and all the doctors put me on steroids and finally when i went to see Dr. Blessing Moore she was able to find a regime that works and allows me to feel and look normal without using steriods . The many things i appreciate about Dr. Blessing Moore and her staff: 1. Dr. Blessing Moore spends ALOT of time with you 2. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who felt the same way as some of you guys... I'm writing this review, hoping that Dr. Blessing-Moore and her stuff members will read this. Because I think Dr. Blessing-Moore is a very good doctor and I want them to be better so I can keep going to see her in the future. In general, if they have little more "caring" for patients and their work space, I think they will grow even more. *PROS* - Dr. Blessing-Moore is very smart and she seems like a nice person. I heard that she's a great Dr. (I don't know her well, yet.) - Palo Alto office has its own parking lot at the back of the building for free. (San Mateo office is street parking only - meter parkings near there or non-meter parkings about 1.5 blocks away on the street.) - Each room has air purifier. *CONS* - This office's stuff members need some customer service training. The front desk person was not welcoming and some of the assistants are not communicating well with patients. Unless I ask questions, they only say minimum stuff, leaving me just standing there or waiting in the room without knowing what's going on next. One time, I was left in the room for a long time so I had to step outside into the hallway to ask someone if I had to wait in the room or I was supposed to leave. I didn't even know what I was waiting for in the room though... They didn't tell me how long it would take to take an allergy test. It took them for almost 3 hours, mostly waiting. I had to go re-park my car in the middle of testing. It would be nice if they told me in advance. - A pile of paperwork (took me for about 30 min. to fill) to fill out on the first visit have redundant questions and some parts of the questions were not clear with some parts in wrong columns and locations on the paper. And some of them were poorly printed from generations of copies and I couldn't even read. Those can be re-organized and re-printed. And they didn't even give me a clip board with those paperwork. They had a soft paper folder underneath. It was really hard to fill those paperworks. - Layout of the rooms are not well designed. The room in which I got my lung and ear tested was really small, like a small storage room size (both San Mateo and Palo Alto office). I had to stand right next to a pile of cardboard boxes (Palo Alto office) and behind the testing person who keeps talking to the monitor so I can't hear what she was saying. I know they can do nothing about the space limitations but maybe they can move clutters away and make eye-contact with patients when they talk at least. - For the allergen testing, I had to wait for 10 min first and then 20 min with the paper covering on naked upper body in a cold room. It would have been nice if they have blanket or something. Or at least, they can tell me that I would need a jacket or something before hands. - When I was half naked with the paper covering on upper body, the assistants opened the room's door wide and kept it open several times while I was there. - It seems like Dr is over-booked. They have enough stuff members, hanging out but Dr is the only one, running around. I had to wait between testings and seeing her for a long time. Dr was very nice but she was very rushed, not even greeting to me, right into the subject, busy typing on the computer... It gave me a feeling like she doesn't care about my concern so much. (Maybe that's because my case is not serious?) She also asked the same questions, although I just saw her and asked the same questions the day before... Maybe that's because she doesn't even have time to go over my record before she sees me. - No magazines in those rooms although the waiting time is pretty long... There are kids books, videos and toys there (in cardboard boxes... That could be replaced with nicer looking boxes from dollar stores easily...) but nothing for adult. I had to go out to the waiting room half-naked with the paper covering with a jacket on to get some magazines. read more

I am a patient of Dr. Blessing-Moore and unfortunately this bad review is due to her staff. I would like to start off by saying I am also in the medical field, so I am very understanding when it comes to the wait times, the rushing and the overbooking. However, treating patients the way I was treated is absolutely unacceptable. This office has violated my right to privacy as a patient on more than one occasion, but this particular incident was very upsetting. I had been receiving statements from their office monthly, however because of the large amount I was being charged, I was sending a $100 payment every month rather than the lump sum. I would walk in, scan my allergy card and sit down. The woman at the front desk would yell from across the waiting room "Lizbeth are you aware you have a balance!" My response would be "yes I am, I have been sending you payments every month is that all right?" Mind you at this point I stood up and walked towards the counter so I wouldn't yell across the room and have everyone else hear our conversation. Her response "Oh yeah that's fine then." This must've happened to me about four or five times with her. Unfortunately I cannot remember her name. This last time I was there I once again walked in scanned my allergy card and sat down. This time Tara came out of the allergy shot room, leaned on the front desk counter and once again in front of at least six or seven patients, spoke to me from across the waiting room and said "Lizbeth I have been advised not to treat you until your very large balance has been paid off." I was mortified. Rather than her calling me into the allergy shot room to give me some privacy, she very blatantly led everyone in the waiting room to believe that I was some deadbeat trying to skip out on my bill. As a patient, I have a right to keep ALL my information private. That includes my bill. What this office did to me is absolutely unacceptable. read more

The staff at this office is unbelievable. My son is allergic to egg white and needs to take a shot that contains egg at his 12 month PD visit (which I just found out at the PD office). We had scheduled an appointment for him to take the egg white food challenge at Dr. Blessing-Moore's office. Two weeks later, they called me to say they were double-booked and bumped us out. They never mentioned to me that the PD needed clearance for my son to take the shot. Now we have to go back to the PD again. WHAT A JOKE! Also, the Dr. never ran a test on my son or looked at his blood test results to confirm that he has an egg allergy. They just took my word for it. So UNPROFESSIONAL. I had a terrible time with skin rashes - we're talking so bad as to keep me from getting a good night's sleep - about five years ago. Made the rounds of my primary care physician, various dermatologists and allergists. My experience was that doctors were not very interested in seeing a patient with those symptoms, as I guess they are very difficult to diagnose and resolve. I was looking for an allergist in San Mateo county since I worked in the South Bay at the time and my primary care physician recommended Joanne Blessing-Moore. Not only was Joanne willing to see me, but she was hugely proactive and encouraging - "We're going to figure out what's causing this and get you better." Right off the bat, she knew how to treat my symptoms so that I was able to sleep and live a halfway decent life again. Eventually, we finally figured out what was causing the problem, and it has not been a problem to this day Although I did not come to Joanne for respiratory issues, after taking skin tests, she felt I could use treatment in that area too, and started me off on shots. Five years later, I have a huge and unexpected improvement in my quality of life. I had no idea of how much energy and vitality my allergies were sapping me of. The symptoms are completely under control and I can make it through the spring while barely even noticing the pollens in the air. (I used to joke that I was allergic to May and June - I'd walk around during those months with teary, itchy eyes.) Dr. Blessing-Moore is one of those rare physicians who is both distinguished in her field and has great empathy for her patients. I can't speak highly enough of her. The only negative in this office is that they are sometimes so busy that it can take a while to get a call back if you need a question answered. I've tried to leave messages to find "voice mailbox full." How about a new phone system, guys? read more

Dr. Blessing-Moore is the best... Got to the bottom of allergy and asthma problems I've had for years that had been slightly misdiagnosed and under-treated with half measures in the past. Have gotten allergy shots there for years, flu shots, and been seen for acute respiratory problems. (Yes, my insurance pays for flu shots if given in a doctor's office. You should get your shots here in the future, too.) I've always gotten in quickly if I needed to and Dr. Blessing-Moore has been available for allergy emergencies (direct cell phone #, etc.). Very understanding about allergies and what a pain they can be. Office staff are friendly, helpful. Yeah, I actually look forward to getting jabbed in the arm with sharp things every 2 months because Tara is fun, cool, and great at her job. Nurses (Miriam) and front desk staff are nice, too. I've usually had to wait about 15 minutes or less, which is pretty much the rule for doctor's offices. Shots are faster (usually less than 5 mins wait). You can walk in for these, but you probably don't want to get shots in the after school 3-5pm window because the wait can be longer then. On occasion she's given me several samples of different things to try to see which work best and told me to take what I need. I didn't see that as overmedicating, as I guess one other reviewer did. I saw it as taking my problem seriously and recognizing that the best way to know what works is to try a few options. read more

This review is a 5-star review and a 1-star review. 5-stars: I came to Dr. Blessing Moore several years ago with allergies to everything airborne (mold, pollen, dust, animals). I was taking tons of asthma and allergy meds. Dr. Blessing Moore got me started on allergy shots, and now, 5 years later, I have a dog (!), go running every day (!), can't remember the last time I used my inhaler (!), and am nearly free of all asthma and allergy meds (phasing out the last one now). Overall, totally amazing. Now for the bad. 1-star: Dr Blessing Moore's office manager charged me $3500 for the cost of the allergy testing and first rounds of allergy shots up front at the end of my first or second visit. I paid in full, even though I had insurance. I probably should have been a little suspicious, but I was a student at the time and didn't really think it was too weird. Long story short, a year or so later, I found out from the insurance company that they had overcharged me by about $1800. I pointed this out to the office manager, but suddenly found it impossible to reach her. I pointed this out to Dr Blessing Moore on several occasions in person, over the phone and over email, but each time was told that I would be contacted later. After several more months of this, Dr Blessing Moore told me that her records were not in order, and that she wouldn't pay me back until she straightened them out. I continued to ask her about this periodically, and she put me off every time, saying she didn't know how much *I* owed *her* of that amount. In the end, I had to threaten to take her to small claims court to get my money back from her, and that put a serious strain on our doctor-patient relationship so I switched doctors. In summary, even though she did wonders for my health, I'm still bitter about the way I was treated by her and her staff. read more

I put Joann Blessing-Moore in the "lost-breed" category. Everyone wants the BEST doctor and you need not look any further because she's the BEST! My husband and I are both patients of hers (I've been a patient since 2000). She digs her heals in and doesn't stop until she figures out what the problem is (and of course the solution to the problem). She's very personable, yet technical at the same time AND truly cares about her patients. How many doctors do you know who put their cell phone number on their outgoing message so their patients have 24x7 access for emergencies (I actually called her one time at 8:30pm on a Saturday night.). A few years ago, I had a problem with the billing system. Statements showed up infrequently and were very hard to understand. On the occasions where I called in to question the statement, the answers from the billing department were very vague. It turns out that the doctor had some very crafty employees doing her billing, while they were embezzling from her!!! Very sad... I can't believe that the employee(s) who stole from her have the nerve to look at themselves in the mirror! Dr. Blessing-Moore deserves to be PRAISED at the highest level for her committment to her patients and the medical community for her many contributions. read more

My lungs have always been weak, and I've had allergies since I was a child. In my late teens I began getting very sick every winter, and I'd be sick for months. I went to many, many doctor. Finally, in my thirties, I went to Dr. Blessing-Moore. She figured out what was happening and set me up with a regime of medicines to use when I was beginning to get sick and when I was sick. It worked. It is very hard to get in to see her, probably because she spends so much time with each patient. I have finally gotten into the habit of making an appointment for the beginning of winter every year. Then I can call and get prescriptions renewed by the phone. read more

If a rating of 0 stars was possible, that would be my choice... I have been a patient of Dr. Blessing-Moore's for almost twenty-years. During that time, the actual care provided by Dr. Blessing-Moore, as defined by doctor-patient interaction, has been quite good. However, the level and periodically overall absence of customer service delivered by her staff is incredibly frustrating and disappointing. Unfortunately, delays in prescription refill approvals, extended office wait times and archaic doctor-centric office policies have become the norm for this practice. Complaints have been expressed directly to the doctor, and as of this morning to the deaf-ears of her San Mateo office manager, with no resolution. My advice: if you want to be treated with respect for your health AND your time, and want to avoid the frustration of interacting with a practice that seems to be incapable of delivering a positive customer experience, go somewhere else. read more

I have no idea why patients continue to visit this office with the other wonderful Allergy and Asthma clinics close by. Dr. Blessing-Moore always runs late and is extremely distracted, doesn't listen carefully, talks over you and spends very little time with patients. It takes forever to get an appointment, renewing a prescription is like running a gauntlet--it sometimes seems as though the staff has a contest to see which one can make things more difficult for patients! They are rude and disrespectful and always have a long list of reasons why they can't help and act as though they are doing patients a favor by speaking to them. Dr Joanne Blessing-Moore is one of the most competent and caring physicians I have ever known. She cared for our daughter who was anaphylactic to milk and eggs. This is a life-threatening allergic condition and one for which other physicians had told us that we "would be lucky to raise her till she is 5"....that is how bad our daughter's allergies were. In addition to being anaphylactic, she was also a severe asthmatic. Dr Joanne Blessing Moore's experience and expertise provided excellent treatment for our daughter. Dr Blessing Moore was caring and available for us. In addition, she planned educational programs for school staff, that allowed our daughter to go to public school and not worry about her dying of an anaphylactic reaction while at school. To speak to others that complain that Dr Blessing Moore "runs late", I would like to say that often we would be racing toward her office with a desperarately ill child, and Dr Blessing Moore would have to mobilize her staff to treat our daughter's serious, and sometimes life-threatening emergency. Very frusturating when it comes to getting allergy shots. I was told that everything would be done and ready for me to come in and get my first shot in 2-3 weeks. After calling during the third week I was told 1 more week which now has turned into 2 weeks (5 weeks). I wish they would be a little more truthful instead of me calling every week and hearing one more week. Makes me think twice about going the route of shots. I understand they are busy during the summer months but my recommendation is either add another shot nurse or tell your patients it is going to be 5 weeks instead of 2-3 weeks. read more

My son has been there for over a year to get allergy shots. At one time, he had an allergic reaction and they said they will not increase the dosage till he feels better. The sad part is that there were no clear directions , even from the doctor or the shot administrator when the dosage will increase again. My son was going there for 9 months and we thought they had started increasing his dosage. At no point in time they indicated that they want to increase it. If my wife had not mentioned the issue, he would be going for another 5 years and do the same dosage. The Dr. and all apologized for this mistake. To me, this is quite unacceptable. We wasted nearly a year of time AND payments . I do NOT recommend this Dr. to anyone. read more
