During eight months for some reason my case was passed on through different employees of the firm. I started having my concerns after I received a very strange email from The Schwab Law Firm. The email contained some information that had absolutely nothing to do with my case. I strongly believe The Schwab Law Firm accidentally has shared someones case information with me, because when I asked about the email I did not receive any answers. With that being said, I was a little worried and decided to take 360 mile trip back to Louisiana to review my case with the firm before the court appearance. At the meeting I was introduced to my NEW lawyer and it was a train wreck. 30% of the documents that were collected from me in the past eight months were gone, I had to stay at their office for about an hour searching through my emails for all lost documents. The most pathetic part is The Schwab Law Firm attorneys cannot understand each other's handwriting, I literally had to help my new lawyer to translate all the notes. At the end of the meeting I had no doubts in my mind that I would not want The Schwab firm to represent me at the court of law. I broke my contact with Schwab, hired a different law firm and started from the beginning. With the new law firm my case was solved and closed in less than 30 days. My personal opinion...... I would NOT trust The Schwab Law Firm with a parking ticket.

No one I've spoken to in the office seems to know anything whatsoever (or care) how to do their jobs if Smitko is out, which seems to be a weekly occurrence here. If you do manage to get them on the phone, they'll pretend they don't have any way to get any answers about the case or how to actually reach Smitko for more info. Multiple instances they even went as far as pretending they couldn't hear me on different phone lines!! Simply unbelievable! I spent thousands to have paperwork filed, after already doing most of the legwork myself. I extensively explained to both Jerri Smitko and Jodi Bergeron (one of the rude paralegals) my purpose for filing and that ALL I needed was a "professional" to help me confirm the filing was being done in the proper way. After weeks and weeks of ZERO contact and multiple unreturned calls and emails, I finally had to explain to Smitko AGAIN for at least the third time over the course of 4 months what my case was even about, only to find out they still hadn't begun the filing process or even attempted to contact the other party!! AVOID this place at all costs if you want your case taken care of seriously and efficiently!!!

I let him go because he was depending on my husbands attorney to do the work he was hired for…read more me to get done.. I hired him to do my case against my husband . He sat back and had the nerve to tell me he was waiting to have my husbands attorney to to the paper work that did not get done from November to END of March and still not did it ...... I hired another one and she is doing her job and doing it good like an attorney should do for their clients. Than told me he would give me all my money back and there next week only gave me portion back not even half of the $3,000.00 he gave me $1,300 I guess it was better than nothing because he did not hardly do nothing . I have no use for him . OOOOOOOO and not to mention he is very rude and a stick in the mud with no manners and a chip on his shoulders like he is better than anyone else . Well he is not . Like I told him I hired you to work for me I did not hire you to work for my husband . That was bull . I would not recommend this fellow to anyone going through a divorce .He should go back to some type of school on how to treat people that are paying him to do a job for them he is not paying me I am paying him . What a jerk .The people who told me about him are not happy with his behavior at all . They had never seen that side of him until the lady came to his office with me .
