I was here with a group to try the Linzer Torte. It was sooo good. Nothing like the ones we see in…read morethe US. This is the real deal. The O.G. It is made with a buttery hazelnut crust and currants. Not raspberries like I have always seen on the knock-offs. (Although admittedly, those are pretty good too....no harm, no foul......they just aren't really what linzer tortes really are.) Anyhow, it's a busy little shop and we had a private section upstairs to enjoy our coffee. Our guide told us to put the little chocolate in the coffee too. Even though I usually like my coffee black, I obliged. When in Rome..... My only regret is not buying one to take home with me. I heard they travel and keep very well.
Coffee and Linzer torte, that's what it is about. Delicious and filling…read more We hit the shop next door and scored mini Linzers as gifts and a slew of truffles 'for later'

Beautiful interior and clean
I know what you are saying, five stars for this cafe? Yet for coffee in Austria we must consider…read morefour things: service; atmosphere; pastry; and yes the coffee itself! Here we are in one of the oldest shops in Linz with the original built in benches woodwork, pale blue paint and continuous decorations that represent over a 100 years of culture and life! I was met at the counter by a young woman who not only spoke English but took such care of me. Truly was concerned that I was going to receive the great coffees we ordered along with the Linz famous Tart they are known for! The coffee and pastries arrived quickly and with a biscotti alongside as well. If you are Linz do not miss out on this treasure of a location!

Haven't tried their soups/stews yet, but if everything else is an indication, it's gonna be great. What makes this place special is that it's a mix between cafe and lounge. So you can not only get coffee, tea or hot cocoa, but they also have a great selection of wines and beer. Free wifi is a plus! Only downside is that they open pretty late in the day (noon/2pm) and don't accept credit cards

I was about to give up on Linz until I found this street lined with cafes and little tables with…read moreoutdoor seating. The coffee shop was unexpectedly large. There's indoor seating at two big tables, chairs set around a table, and bar seating. They offer coffee and tea as well as some baked goods, none of which I really fancied. I ordered regular coffee and it was strong, as is all that is offered in Austria I've realized. The employee working there was very friendly. The patrons were mostly young 20-30 year olds. While it's a very modern space, it fits into this seemingly historic pedestrian street.

We enjoyed our drinks in a warm, cozy atmosphere. Nothing fancy but the cocktails were good and service friendly. Just a nice spot to relax and watch the world go by. Two drinks came to €12,90. Very reasonable.

Kaffee Glockenspiel is directly on the Hauptplatz and right next to the hotel we were staying in. It's good but not great, if you walk a few blocks there are better cafes. That being said, the cafe has been there forever and the coffee and pastries are great but expensive. We met up with my mom's friends and while they had coffee I had to have a melange and a chocolate apricot torte. It was delicious but pastries are delicious everywhere in Linz. While the space is historic and the wait staff was pleasant I would probably find a less touristy location for my melange and pastry.
