Jim's Tow has now rescued me 3 times, and their drivers are wonderful. They're kind, understanding, polite, and ever so helpful. The latest one Jim Tow Guy (his nickname to differentiate him from the owner) was able to get my car out of a very tight spot and take it to another very tight spot (Amazon's alternator caught fire), and I was mightily impressed. In all the excitement, I forgot the name of the tow driver from the flat tire rescue, but he was great also ... and so fast, I couldn't believe it. Both my tire and alternator went on the same day about 2 hours apart. I suspect that the accident on 435 the day before left debris on the highway which messed up my car. If you're ever stranded and need a tow - DONT CALL JIM'S TOWING So Last week I had the terrific misfortune of needing my vehicle towed after sliding on the ice directly into a curb. Unable to drive due to bent CV axle and shattered inner- outer tie rod I noticed that less than 175 yards away from where my vehicle got stranded was The Value Auto Clinic. After scurrying the 90 second walk down to the shop I explained my situation to which the shop steward assured me that they would be able get everything fixed up for me the following morning. I asked how I would get the vehicle down the street he immediately recommended Jim's Towing mentioning that they're located just four blocks down and very reasonably priced. ​​They ended up charging me $110.00!! No flat bed - nothing elaborate just picked it up by the front - drove it for literally 30 seconds and then dropped it off. Absolute Rip Off!! read more

I have a car that was electronically locked up. Nothing could be done with it at all. The owners manual said it had to be towed by using skates and slid onto a flatbed. General Motors was providing a free tow so I don't know if the price was reasonable, but the young man who showed up was great and prepared with the skates. He was our fifth tow truck of the day. None of the first four had the skates even though they were told by GM to bring them and we had to turn them away. Getting five tow trucks took eleven hours. Will arrived within 10 minutes! His gentle manner quickly calmed my nerves. Will jump-started my car, then led me to O'Reilly's, where he talked with the manager about what I needed. Within minutes, O'Reilly's installed a new battery. Then Will waited to see that my car started and kept running. So let's say you're cruisin' down the highway, blasting "Bad Romance" and putting on a personal karaoke show for others zooming around you. Then you realize something is not quite right, as your car is making increasingly louder clickity-clackity sounds and starting to sputter. I had a flat tire today and called several companies to get quotes - each quoted me about 100 dollars more than Jim's Big Tow. Not only is the name clever - all of the guys I spoke to were calm and really kind considering I probably sounded quite frazzled. They listened and told me what options I had & how much each one cost. They did arrive later than expected- however, there was an accident that was more prudent than my flat and they made sure to communicate what was going on and where their drivers were at. These guys are seriously awesome. I called them up a couple years ago when my car died (RIP Malibu) on the way to work one morning. They were there within 15 minutes and got me all taken care of, and towed back to my buddy's shop. Last week my mom was headed home and blew out two tires on the side of the road - Mr. Clark was there incredibly quick and helped assess the situation before going to work on it. He was efficient and very friendly even though it was freezing cold and around midnight. He helped us tow it back into town to one of the shops, and even stuck around as I took pictures of the car, until I left. They are incredibly reasonable with pricing, and just knowing that they're going to take care of everything during a stressful time like this is an even greater testament to their service. If you're having a bad car day, do call Jim's Tow Service. The crew is friendly, fast and professional. They took my car to the wrong Acura dealership after I confirmed an incorrect address. They then delivered it to the correct location and didn't charge me for the extra miles! How awesome is that considering it was my mistake? The rate is $50 dollars to hook up the car plus $3 dollars for every mile they tow it. My total cost was $86. It's very reasonable. read more

You know this feeling. The click, the door shuts, your eyes enlarge and some choice words slip out. Keys inside and there is glass and metal between you and them. Oh yes, add Christmas day and cold weather to my mistake! I called Jim's Tow and things turned around quickly. Jim's son arrived in far less time than I was expecting. My battery died at I-70 Drive In. I thought I had pressed the start button one too many times and locked it up where the dealership has to unlock it. I called Mazda roadside assistance. Their dispatch service was supposed to send a tow truck out. An hour later I had not received a call or text. I called them back and the new dispatcher couldn't get the tow company on the phone. She was working to find someone else. After 3 hours and it being 2 AM sitting at the drive in, I decided to call in my AAA membership. They dispatched Jim's Tow and he was there in 20 minutes. He knew how to make my 2014 Mazda's immobility thingy recognize the key and he gave me a jump start. Apparently that is all I needed. I will definitely use them again when needed. read more

Unethical, unprofessional and a cheat. My son had a bad wreck, and the authorities called Jim's Tow to retrieve the vehicle. They impounded it, charged $250 to release it, said it would be $35/day to store it. I called another company who said they would buy the car for salvage the same day - Mike (at Jim's Tow) did not live up to allowing the other company access to the car. Over the course of 3 days, he gave a number of excuses, and charged us $35/day to store it, even though we were on premise to retrieve the vehicle the same day. He bought time, was unresponsive and refused access just so we would have to pay him storage. After the vehicle was purchased, it was learned that Jim's Tow had removed parts from the car prior to releasing it. Mike was rude, unprofessional, and generally a very severe jerk to work with. Police report filed as well as reporting to the city, county, AAA and BBB. We have no place for con artists here. read more

These guys are great. Fair and honest. We have used them a couple of times and are always blown away about how awesome they are. Most recently, my daughters car started to shake bad so she pulled over and called Jim's. The driver realized it was just snow pack in the wheel well, cleared it out and sent her on her way. I must have called four to five tow services in the Grandview, MO/Overland Park, KS area. I wasn't satisfied with the price quote offered by any of them. When I called Jim's Tow Service, I was surprised to find myself speaking with the owner himself (on a Sunday evening). I explained my needs, he offered a reasonable price (probably 15-20% less than all other quotes) and we agreed on a time to meet. The tow truck was a few minutes early and the driver "Duke" was a top notch, polite, respectful individual. No hidden charges and vehicle was dropped off for the exact price quoted on the phone. I'm told this was the first tow they have had of a boat out of the caves.... I had a disabled trailer, they towed it out of the caves and put my boat and trailer on a flat bed. Hauled it to Blue Springs Marine to drop the boat onto another trailer and then took the disabled trailer to Croft. Easy peasy...reasonably priced and they got the job done. We've used Jim's Tow for years. Driver Will Clark did an amazing job after my son trashed his car's right front wheel; bearings; other and ended up with two flat tires after hitting a curb late one night. Will told me the challenges hooking up a car that low on two flats and being that closely positioned to the curb and avoiding front end damage. However, Will patiently inched the car up on the lift, all the while squeezing into tight spaces to jack the car up so the frame was not touching the road, but sitting on wood blocks as it slid. Will worked for 2 hrs to meticulously get the car onto the truck bed. He then took the same level of patience in putting it back down at the collision repair location. Got the repair company's estimate and know the damage would have been much more expensive to fix if it weren't for Will. GREAT JOB Will!! read more

I was leaving my house with my kids to go to lunch and realized quickly that wasn't going to happen. I locked my keys in my car!! I thought about calling a lock smith or even the police department. Called Jims tow and and another tow company on a sunday for a tow, car was stranded on side of busy road. The other tow company should up first, had to get car out of road! Jim's tow should up after and complained! Then i recieved harassing phone calls from Jims tow for the next hour! When my mechanic showed up where I had it towed all four tires had been slashed, not any other cars in the lot had been messed with! The 2 Tow companys are the only ones who knew where my car was. I made a police report, BBB complaint, Attorney General Complaint and calling Fox 4 Problem solvers! They were the most unprofessional people i have dealt with in a long time, i wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy! Don't waste your time there are plenty of good tow company's in kansas city! Our teenage son parked at a funeral home during a recent public event in town. He looked and saw no sign to indicate that you were not allowed to park there. It was dark and the sign that was posted was a very small one in a weird location. He came back about 90 mins. later to find that his car had been towed. When talking to the funeral home they told us that Jim's Towing is in charge of watching the lot and when it gets somewhat full of cars to call them. So Jim's Towing waited until the lot had around 30 cars in it and then they pulled in with around 10 tow trucks and hauled everyone away to their impound lot. The cars where towed about 1-2 miles. They charged $150 to get your car back. We talked to several people and they all had not seen the sign or they would have parked elsewhere. When getting our car back from Jim's Towing the man was very defensive of the funeral home and seemed to have a very close relationship with them. It would not surprise me if the two work together during these public events to both make a lot of money off of unsuspecting people. There were several young teenagers that work at $8 an hour jobs to pay for gas and etc. that had to pay $150 to get their cars back. This seemed like an unethical setup between the funeral home and Jim's Towing. I would strongly suggest that you call someone else when you need to be towed. read more
