While not as big and well-stocked as Gow's in Bridgewater (LH doesn't even try to stock the kind of seasonal and housewares items that Gow's has), LH has a good selection of all the hardware basics, plus a few very special extras. They've got a fine, if small, chandlery section, if you need to work on your boat. And they sell Benjamin Moore paints and are truly experts in this area. I don't go anywhere else for my paint. Most importantly, this store has the best staff ever! They are helpful and knowledgeable, especially the ones who have been there a decade or more. No matter what project you're working on, the established staff members like Sandy, Elaine, Ron and Ronnie can help you figure out what you need. I mean...I've been following them on social media for ages and have drooled over their photos, but now that I've been inside, yep, it's love. I love that just about everything in the shop is made in Canada, and there is so much love for local Nova Scotian artists too! I could have bought a car full of goodies - Rifle Paper Co journals? Adorable prints? Jewellery dishes shaped like woodland animals? And then the jewellery itself that is just so gorgeous, it's hard not to want a little bit of everything. After a…read moreday of shopping the south shore, inundated by stereotypical 'maritime' crap that I just can't get down with, I almost let out an audible cry of happiness when I walked into this brand new addition to the Lunenburg scene. The modern, open and bright space really let the products on the shelves shine rather than forcing customers into an awkward stumble through overpacked aisles of random nick-knacks. Within seconds of seeing all the inspiring and adorable prints, handmade pillows and stuffed toys, quirky greeting cards and stationery, and tons more, I knew I was in trouble. Much like a similar store in Halifax (Love, Me Boutique), I just wanted it all. And that's okay...because every purchase helps support a legitimate local artist or crafter which makes me feel MUCH better about gift-giving than just picking up your average mass-produced 'Authentic Nova Scotian' anything. Besides, there were so many great products available for less than $20 which makes it easy to do some damage without having to hate yourself for it later. I will absolutely be back. This is my favourite store in Chester and a must when I go visit family. It is truly beautiful and filled with unique items. I love all the pretty dishes and just neat items that are displayed in the back of the store. Glass wear and balls hand in the window with crystals that when the sun hits them are truly fabulous. Jewelry is a must I think in all locations of Chester but Warp and Woof have some big chunky pieces that are really different. Anything from candles to handmade bags you name it this place has it. As well I see that they brought in a section of photos and art work. And as you know me by now I love a bargain so behind the door when you walk in they have a clearance rack and this weekend I purchased some really cool hooks so that my son does not throw his towels on the floor hint hint. They focus on used clothing, but you can also buy used books, oddments and a few housewares here. Frenchys is much cheaper than Value Village and smells better. The location in Bridgewater is huge, friendly and packed with bargains. I know many well-dressed people who dress themselves almost entirely from Frenchys, and dress well. I often find myself costuming shows, and Frenchys is an important source for that, too.
