Jen Plus Colour's team did my wedding hair/makeup (Brenda and Nicole), and it was absolutely perfect! Can't recommend more. I never wear makeup or do anything to my hair, so I was a bit intimidated by the idea of getting my hair and makeup done. Her team was incredibly kind and made me feel very comfortable. I felt and looked like myself, just a little extra beautiful. My bridesmaids and moms looked gorgeous as well. read more

I booked the Jen Plus color team for my wedding hair and makeup styling and could not have been happier! Jen was communicative and supportive throughout the entire process and ensured all my questions were answered. Her team is quick to respond to emails and is incredibly professional. Zenaida styled my hair, providing amazing suggestions to amplify my vision and making me comfortable on my wedding day. Alexis did my makeup and was able to execute my vision with ease, providing helpful recommendations throughout my trial and wedding. Zenaida and Alexis were the dream team, I could not be happier with my decision to book the Jen plus color team for my wedding. read more

Jen is great. Easy to work with, organized, and dependable. She's a great listener. She understood that I wanted my make-up as natural appearing as possible. And she didn't disappoint! My friends and family were equally satisfied with their hair and make-up. Recommend highly! read more

Jen did my hair and make up (along with my mom and my sister's) for my wedding in Palm Springs this year, and I could not recommend her more. Not only did my HMU turn out better than I could've imagined and lasted through three outfit changes and an after party, she was the first one I saw the morning of my wedding, and set the whole tone of the day for me. Her calm demeanor, beautiful energy, and of course talent, made me feel confident, at ease, and reassured for the whole day. During a day that could be stressful and chaotic, hiring Jen will make sure you start your day off right, and I could not recommend her more. If you're unsure who to choose, HIRE JEN!!!! read more

Nothing but rave reviews for Jen and her team!! From the trial to the big day she was a dream to work with. Jen is a true professional. She's clearly talented at that she does but she is also able to take critiques and make those changes to give you exactly what you want on your big day. My trial was amazing but I ultimately decided to go with a more natural makeup look and a more relaxed curl for the wedding day. I sent over my comments after the trial and she implemented them perfectly the day of my wedding. She was also so nice to accommodate coming back to do another hair look for my reception! Jen has really honed her craft and it helps that she is a pleasure to be around. It was lovely having her with my group the morning of my big day! read more

First I want to start with saying that anyone that needs a treatment for anything beauty related should take consideration the passion that the provider has for their business. To start, I am thrilled with my hair and how Jen colored it. But I truly think it's because of her passion and knowledge of hair. Not only did we really talk about what I had done previously and really coming to a conclusion about what I *thought* I wanted, her expertise completed the idea that I didn't know how to put into words. Jen walked me through her thought process and also about other hair conditions and questions I had about hair in general. What a difference it was to have someone truly explain things and so eloquently. Anyway, you get my point, now go make an appointment with her NOW- You won't regret it. [: read more

I hired Jen Martens based on her stellar reviews on Wedding Wire and Yelp and her portfolio pics on Instagram. I was looking for a HMU that did both hair and makeup and practiced more of a natural look. I booked Jen as one of my first vendors over a year in advance of my October 2020 wedding. When Covid19 hit and my husband and I didn't know if we were going to be able to hold our wedding after all. In July, we decided to downsize our small, 30 person wedding and do a micro-wedding of just 9 instead. Jen offered numerous options if the wedding had to be moved or cancelled. She was always optimistic, flexible, and reassuring in her emails especially considering all of the uncertainty this year brought not only for us but for herself and her business. I felt like I was chatting with a friend that I'd never even met. Jen and I ended up moving my hair and makeup trial several times due to Covid closures but I was finally able to go in and see her in mid-September. We tried a few different looks for hair and I was obsessed with my makeup. I still looked like me, just beautified. She listened to what I wanted, was patient, and always checked to make sure I was happy with her work both at the trial and on the wedding day. Jen was also fastidious about keeping her station in the salon clean. I felt very safe regarding her kit and sanitization practices. Jen was extremely professional with sending contracts and reminders, she worked seamlessly with our wedding planner for scheduling, and was just a genuine pleasure to work with. It was so fun chatting with her the morning of my wedding while she got me all ready to go and I really felt so comfortable and safe in her care. She made my mom and I feel absolutely beautiful! She is an all-star hair and makeup artist and you 100% want her on your wedding team. read more

FOR HAIR AND MAKEUP JEN IS YOUR PERSON! She saved my life during my wedding 2 years ago. Jen pays attention to detail with hair and makeup, which during my wedding makeup was particularly important because I don't have eyebrow hair and she gave me a natural looking fill. She squeezed me into her packed schedule and did the most beautiful makeup job for my special day. Because I love her presence so much, I drive all the way from LA to get my hair done with her and I receive compliments all the way up to my next appointment from total strangers. Also she is an incredible human who is easy to talk to as she's working. Truly the best of the best and you MUST BOOK HER! read more

Ah-Mazing!! I haven't loved my hair this much in years. Jen is a great listener and delivers a beautiful result. Her assistant Naiomi provided the best mini back and shoulder massage. Jen and her team are a MUST! From my hair and makeup trial to our wedding day, I had the best experience working with Jen. She was extremely professional, communicative, and collaborative. Jen did an incredible job with my hair and makeup making it last all day! She elevated my wedding look, but also made me feel like myself and that's why I enjoyed working with her so much. Her team also did a great job with my bridesmaids as they all looked stunning. I would not hesitate hiring Jen for your wedding day look! read more

Jen did my hair and makeup for my elopement in June and she was exceptional! She was the only person I could find in the area that would do hair and makeup done on location for a single person. I did my trial with her the day before. She nailed the hair pretty much on the first try. I don't wear a ton of makeup so I had no clue what I wanted and nothing felt like me. We went back and forth on the makeup look for a while until she looked at me and said, "You don't have to wear any makeup for your pictures if you don't want to. Your fiancé isn't wearing any neither do you. Your pictures will still be beautiful." For the elopement, she did very soft eyeshadow and false lashes. For my face, she only did some concealer, powder, and blush! I felt and looked so beautiful but still looked and felt like me. My hair was absolute perfection too! I've never had a makeup artist tell me I don't need makeup for pictures. She didn't care how much or how little makeup I wore, as long as I felt good in it. This was hands down the best experience I've ever had with a hair and makeup artist! I can't recommend her enough! She is a little expensive compared to some other people I looked at however she is 1000000% worth it! read more

We cannot recommend, Jen enough! Jen is one of the most incredible people we have ever worked with. She is kind, talented, and inclusive of a diversity of clients. For my wife and I, having a hair and make-up professional who was aligned with our values and could do great work with various hair textures and skin colors was absolutely essential for our wedding day, and Jen + her team more than delivered. Jen was easy to work with from start to finish, and was amazing at receiving feedback. She made us feel at ease on our wedding day, and all of our family and friends loved working with her. One of my favorite things about her business is that she conducts her prices based on length of hair rather than gender. As a queer, interracial couple, we just knew she was the one as soon we spoke with her. She is dynamite, and such a treasure in an industry that is heteronormative. Thank you Jen for everything! read more

Jen made my mom, mother-in-law, sisters and myself feel and look amazing on my wedding day. She was responsive, calm, fun to talk with and extremely talented. What do you do when you decide to give yourself 64 days to plan a wedding (during the holidays no less) !?!? CALL JEN FOR YOUR HAIR AND MAKEUP! I was not a client of Jen's. I had only seen her recent work on my sister's hair cut and her IG portfolio of bridal trials. I was intrigued on how her clients each stood out on their own. It wasn't a one style for all models approach. Their makeup glowing, natural and playing up each person's own assets. I booked a cut and color before my actual trial and I immediately felt like I walked into a long time friend's home. Jen and her assistant Justine are an amazing team, super friendly, and extremely talented. At my official bridal trial, Jen came through despite being under the weather, my hair and makeup lasted through an entire day of errands in the sun, getting sweaty, cooling off, etc. Day of the wedding (in Riverside,) Jen was right on time! She got straight to work on my mother, then my daughter and of course I was taken care of last. My mother and daughter hadn't met Jen before, but they too were put straight at ease and Jen was just "one of the girls" with my sisters also in the room getting ready. She kept to her time schedule and made the adjustments requested from my initial trial session. Everyone looked amazing, not overdone, but beautifully glowing. I just received my pictures from my photographer and our hair and makeup look great...from the early part of the day all the way to the end of the reception where we all danced all night! JEN, I can't thank you enough for playing up our best features, and setting our hair and makeup to last for the full day's festivities! You helped project our best selves for amazing pictures! read more

Jen and her team are incredible for weddings! Jen was so patient and accommodating with my constantly changing schedule and her team did such an incredible job. Nicole did my hair & not only did she totally nail the old Hollywood look I was going for, but it also stayed put the entire night! Brenda did my makeup & she completely executed exactly the look that I wanted, it looked incredibly glamorous, but also was so natural and not overdone at the same time. Naomi helped out with the rest of my wedding party & everyone loved the looks they got from all three women. In addition to doing an amazing job, the whole team couldn't have been sweeter, it started off my whole wedding day with a lovely fun vibe that helped to make the day extra special. Everyone else loved their hair/makeup and we had SO much fun getting ready that day- Jen has a calmness to her that makes you feel so at ease which I really appreciated! Even with all the people getting services done we were done on time! My makeup and hair stayed in tact ALL night - even after all the dancing! I live in Atlanta and planning a destination wedding across the country in Palm Springs wasn't always easy but Jen was SO organized and made everything so easy and seamless for my trails and everything leading up to the wedding. I cannot say enough AMAZING things about Jen and her team! They did both my hair & makeup on my wedding day and I have never felt so beautiful and confident before. Jen is a hair and makeup goddess! I have never felt as radiant as I did during my wedding weekend! Not only does Jen come highly recommended - she delivers! I had a very specific idea in mind (moody, dramatic, dark eye with matte, deep hue lip) for my makeup and she was able to achieve that and more to complete my look. For hair - I let her take the reigns and I am so glad that I did. She has the perfect balance of "natural" and "formal" in her styling approach. Jen is a true pro and she is so down to earth and easy to chat with. I actually hope to be real life friends with her because she is just a kind and genuine person! Bonus: She sends you and your wedding party away with touch up kits! So amazing! Everyone was able to keep their face looking fresh throughout the evening. read more

I hired Jen for my rehearsal dinner and wedding hair and makeup and I couldn't have been happier with my decision! Jen was super easy to work with, organized, and so nice! She listened to my vision and my hair and makeup turned out exactly as I was imagining for both events! She even helped me brainstorm fun 60s hairstyles for my themed rehearsal dinner. Leading up to the wedding Jen was super proactive in reaching out about the hair and makeup schedule for my bridal party which gave me one less thing to worry about on the big day. She and her team were super prompt, and friendly, and we even finished ahead of schedule! I would 100% recommend hiring Jen and her team for any hair and makeup needs-- she is a pro! read more

Jen is just the best! She did such an amazing job on my makeup and hair for my Joshua Tree wedding. She was so sweet and professional from the trial to my wedding day. Working with her felt more like hanging out with a friend than dealing with a vendor. I wanted natural makeup and loose curls with a bit of flair and she exceeded me expectations. She was so great at handling my hooded eyes, making them more like "my eyes but better" instead of trying to change them into a completely different shape. She's also a miracle worker with hair. I have stubborn and slippery straight Asian hair. The hair style I wanted was pretty much the exact opposite of what my hair wants to do normally. But somehow she managed to deliver exactly what I wanted. I got so many compliments on my hair and the style held 14 hrs through several treks in the dessert, the hora and a late night after party. read more

If I could give Jen 6 stars, I would. I met her last year on a styled bridal shoot that my then-fiance and I were models for, and I knew right away she was the one I needed for my big day. I had done so many makeup trials with 4 different makeup artists and there was always something off. When Jen finished my look, I looked in the mirror and loved everything about it! She gave me a warm glow, a beautiful brow, and it was very natural looking but still amped up my features. The products she uses are top notch and she listens to your wants and needs and was a breeze to work with. For my actual wedding day, she arrived early, well prepared, and had remembered all my notes for which I gave her regarding my makeup and hair (yes she did my hair as well!) from previous meeting. Before we left for the venue, Jen gave me a little bag of extra product for touch ups, which I am definitely thankful for! After a long day and night of tears, dancing, sweating, and laughing, my makeup stayed EXACTLY the same! Thank you Jen for making my day to remember a beautiful one! read more

Jen was amazing!! From the time we met for my trial to the end of wedding day hair & makeup we had a total blast! I made the mistake of choosing an updo that totally didn't work with my hair (the inspiration photo was thin, highlighted blonde hair & I have dark almost black thick hair with no highlights) but she willingly gave it her best shot! Though it looked great, it wasn't going to look like the photo no matter what we did. After my trial I decided to go with something that suits my natural hair much better. Since I live in Chicago I couldn't do another trial so I sent her photos and a detailed description of the new look. Jen was totally cool with giving it a whirl the day-of! I absolutely adored my overall look and all of my bridesmaids and mothers looked phenomal, too! Everyone on Jen's team was just as amazing as she is which was awesome. They all totally fit in with my girl gang and we had a great time :) One of everyone's favorite things is each girl got a "touch up kit" to go in their clutch with some of the products they used like lip color. It was the best! Jen is a true artist, but also incredibly professional and organized. I wanted a somewhat natural look that highlighted my features and Jen totally delivered. It was 95 degrees on our wedding day so I was very concerned about sweating off all my makeup before our ceremony but everything stayed on perfectly the entire night--through the sweaty dance floor and all! Lastly, I emailed her 8 months after our wedding asking for the eyebrow product she used on me (best brows I ever had!) and she quickly responded with what it was so I could go purchase for myself. Talk about amazing! Thank you, Jen!! read more

There is no doubt about it; Jen and her team are the best when it comes to hair and makeup for weddings! I am a local girl from the desert, and I am also a little bit of a picky person, especially when it comes to my hair/makeup. However, it was easy picking Jen in creating my bridal look for my Palm Springs based wedding because she is simply the best. From our first emails, to my hair/makeup trial to the day of the wedding, she was nothing but professional and understood exactly the look I wanted to achieve and was always so accommodating to any changes we had. In total, she and her team glammed up myself, my sister (MOH), two bridesmaids, and my mom. She made us all feel extremely beautiful and happy with our looks. I received so many compliments the day of my wedding and I have nothing but love for such a talented artist. I recommend her to anyone who is marrying in Palm Springs and beyond! read more

I found Jen through a recommendation from my wedding planner, and I am so happy that I did! From the get go Jen made me feel heard and seen. We met for my trial makeup and she had me bring some photos of what I was looking for, but I am sure if you just showed up nothing in mind she would still be equally as helpful. (I recommend when using vendors to always have an idea in mind for what you want -- that way you can work together to come up with the perfect look!) As we sat and went through the makeup trial she stopped at each point to ask me how I felt with the look, what I wanted to change, what I liked or disliked, etc. Don't be afraid to speak up! Sometimes it can be intimidating, but Jen really wants for you to feel the most beautiful on your wedding day, so she is happy to accommodate! I wasn't originally going to use Jen for my hair, because I had a family hairstylist that I had been planning on using instead. However when my family hairstylist ended up falling through Jen was a lifesaver and was able to book hair as well -- and it ended up working out for the best! Similar to my makeup trial, Jen was incredibly thoughtful and patient with my hair trial. I had less of an idea of what I wanted, so we worked together to come up with the perfect style to fit my dress and comfort level. I'm not a very formal person, so I wanted something that felt natural and casual. Jen definitely delivered. But the absolute best part of working with Jen and her team was just how little I needed to worry about anything. Once I gave her the names of the bridal party and everyone else getting their makeup done that day Jen coordinated EVERYTHING. She created the schedule of when everybody needed to be where, and was even flexible with a few changes I asked to make at the last minute. On the day of she arrived exactly when she said she would, as did the rest of her team, and the entire day ran so smoothly because of all of her hard work. It was such a blessing to not have to coordinate anything on my wedding day, and I am grateful that Jen helped to ease my stress. On top of that she uses high quality makeup products, which I was concerned about because I tend to have pretty sensitive skin and easily break out. I was glad to see her makeup kit includes high quality brands that I use at home. Plus, I loved having the little kit she gave all of us at the end so that we could do lip touchups throughout the night. What a nice touch!! read more

Jen is amazing! She is chill, down to earth, sweet, and has the best vibe. I honestly felt like I was just seeing an old friend to have my hair and make-up done for the wedding when my sister and I saw her for the trial. She made me feel so comfortable (even when I was so hungry I had to eat a little during the trial). Jen was so kind, professional, and accommodating for my mom on the wedding day when she was having a hard time deciding how she wanted her hair. Plus, Jen was so understanding in the beginning and through email communication when I had a bridesmaid cancel at the last moment.
