I was visiting the Champagne region of France, and stumbled upon Jeff de Bruges while exploring Reims on foot. I thought some chocolates would be nice to pair with the multiple bottles of bubbly that I had back in the hotel, so I stopped in to take a peek.
Jeff de Bruges is a French chain that specializes in pretty chocolates. The style blends traditional Belgian flavors with a bit of a French refinement and flair. We were greeted warmly (well, by French standards) by their non-English speaking staff (this store isn't in a touristy area, so it was filled with locals when we visited in mid-December; it seems like a very popular place to do Christmas shopping).
We selected a small bag of very pretty assorted chocolates by pointing at the case. Most traditional flavors are there, with some fancier, bold flavor options (think hazlenuts and ruby chocolate). They even had adorable bear-shaped chocolates for the kids.
We spent about $15 U.S. on a good-sized back of assorted chocolates. The chocolates we got were smooth and sweet, and you could tell they were crafted of high quality ingredients (after all, French people would demand nothing less). I really enjoyed the white chocolate I had, which was stuffed with some sort of crispy strawberry cream filling. My husband adored the super dark chocolate (it wasn't bitter at all). The very best was the smooth caramel milk chocolate!
