I can't say enough good about Jeep Speed Shop and their Hemi swap kit for the JK platform. Todd Custer is a craftsman and truly a master at getting Hemis to work in JK's. I'm an avid wheeler and rock crawler and I know a lot of people with Hemi and LS swapped JK's from different shops all over the country. Todd's kit is the cleanest final install and beats all the rest in terms of function, performance and reliability. Not cheap... but definitely top shelf and quality is never cheap. The price is very fair for the final product. Todd can be difficult to get a hold of as he's typically out working on something in the shop. Email or Jeep Speed Shops Facebook group is about the best way to get a hold of him and you might need to have a little bit of patience. Totally worth it in the end. read more

Todd and crew at Jeep Speed Shop are gurus in Jeep Hemi engine swaps. I asked for a CA smog certified 5.7 Hemi Ram truck engine and an 8 speed transmission to be swapped in for my 2009 JK. They did a great job! I've been driving the JK post conversion for almost a year now with ZERO issues! The Jeep runs great on the highway and has excellent performance offroad. Highway uphill grades are no problems (3.8 and 4-speed tranny combo was horrible). Off-roading is a blast now. The engine and transmission stay cool even in hot summer days. My 6.4 Hemi swap to my 2015 JK started Nov 2019, a swap I had planned to do in my spare time and expected it to take a year. I ordered a swap kit from Todd at Jeep Speed Shop. He didn't have a computer or wiring harness but did ship me a few bits and pieces so I could get started. Some time later in 2020 the computer arrived along with the harness but nothing labelled on the harness unlike what is on Todd's videos. I told Todd I had a 2016 6.4 SRT Hemi along with an 8 speed trans from a wrecked Challenger with 6000 miles. Todd said the 8 speed won't work but offered to trade me an $800 radiator for my trans and torque converter. I then advertised it on CL and sold it for $1500. Todd was pissed. 2 months later Todd was advertising the 8 speed swap parts are available and is a much better trans. I then realized not to trust to him. March 2020 while on vacation in CA I ordered additional parts from JSS and said I'd pick them up in my way home. I should have known better after he tried to scoop my 8 speed tranny for cheap. A week later and several hundred miles out of my way I arrived at JSS only to find nothing I had ordered was ready. Todd scrambled to put together bits and pieces like AC lines, fuel line adapter, etc, none of which fit my swap. I ended up buying elsewhere and tossing out his mistaken parts. The most disappointing was the $800 radiator I ordered which was the main reason for driving so far out of my way wasn't there. Todd said he could possible get it that afternoon as it's made just down the street. I'm sure he forgot about any of my order. 3 weeks later he shipped me the rad along with a $200 freight bill which I never paid. I did have to pay brokerage to get it across the border into Canada. Don't expect Todd at JSS to be helpful with your swap. They never answer the ph and have a message that says txt is faster. Another lie. It's usually a cpl days and several txts before you hear back from Todd and when you do it's a 3 word response that doesn't answer your question. The last straw was the computer he sent me had a bad injector driver diagnosed by my local Jeep dealer. Now Oct 2020 with urgency to get my Jeep back on the road I returned it to Todd with overnight shipping at $195. After having it a week he confirmed yes it was faculty and shipped me a used computer. Another week later it arrived but shut down as soon as I plugged it in. The Jeep dealer mechanic said the "SKIM" had not been turned off which is a security device built into the computer. Todd was no help beyond that and said I had no warranty on the new computer as I had it too long (less than a year) even though it is the last thing on the swap to do. I then went direct to AMW 4x4 where the bad computer was built. They said warranty would have to come from Todd but were very helpful confirming that on occasion an injector driver can fail on a new computer and yes the SKIM needs to be disabled. They promptly built another computer for me and shipped it fast. It was a plug and play and my Jeep ran great. I returned Todd the second used failed computer along with the $981.09 invoice from AMW 4x4 asking him to reimburse me. This problem cost me over $2000 including labour from my local Jeep dealer, shipping charges, etc and all I asked for was to be reimbursed for the bad computer I purchased from Todd. After many calls and txts Todd refuses to respond. He just ignores me even after I spent over $7000 with him. This is what really frustrated me. Don't do business with Jeep Speed Shop. It's a small shop that looked like a disaster when I was there. Very unorganized, slow to ship anything and doesn't stand behind their products. I believe Todd is a good mechanic but not organized and a poor businessman that doesn't take care of his customers. I'm in my 60's, past owner/manager of a tire shop, mechanically inclined, restored many cars, engine upgrades and swaps etc. I've been self employed all my life. This is the first poor review I've ever written but people need to know about Jeep Speed Shop. Beware ! read more

I had a vehicle come in to be finished that a previous shop couldn't get to run. The vehicle is a 2011 JKU 6.4 8HP70 swap using Todd's kit. I tried for 3 days to try and get in contact with him via multiple emails and phone calls. The most I ever got from him in an email was a BOM list that you can find on his poorly setup website and 3 different responses that said "go to our youtube page". When i was eventually able to get him on the phone he was little to no help at all. He told me that the TCM flash for the PCS translator was his own software that he and his wife have been developing and improving for 3-4 years and once i flash it then my TCM and ECU should be talking with each other which they did not. After flashing i called him back to try and get a little more help troubleshooting we spoke for about 5 minutes to which he ended the phone call with "I have my owe stuff to worry about. Bye!" and hung up on me. The TCM flash that he has been 'developing' isn't even his software. It's software built by Squire Incorporated. If you're thinking of using Todd and his product I would highly highly recommend NOT wasting your money and time. Todd is ALL talk and NO walk. If you are doing any sort of Hemi/V8 and 8 speed swap into your jeep I would suggest that you get in contact with Dan of Dakota Customs out of Blackhawk South Dakota. I spoke with him today and he said Todd does nothing but lie and cheat people. Dan was very helpful in getting me headed in the right direction to be able to not only finish this build, but most importantly getting it finished correctly. read more

Hats off to Todd what a fantastic job he did on my 07 Jeep JKU! I went with the 5.7 VVT Hemi truck engine with 8 speed transmission and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. I just got my rig back last week the sound of the V8, the smoothness of the 8 speed with manual sifter and all the powers I'm gained makes my Jeep become one of the bests around. It's also 100% Carb legal, which is a big deal for me since I'm from Cali. The customer service was outstanding and the communication was great! Todd's been sending me the WIP pictures during the entire process. He even posted a video on YouTube and IG to show off my 8 speed. If you're looking to modify your jeep, or get a few things installed, then look no more. Todd at Jeep Speed Shop has the most Outstanding, shop, service, and what a great guy Todd is. He sold us a replacement 6cyl for our 98 Sahara, and from that point on, he's been our go to jeep guy. Todd is a straight shooter and won't sell you on something you don't need. His prices can beat any other 4x4 shop around. He's mostly known for doing Hemi swaps on all jeeps, but will do just about anything to make yours the way you want it. It's done right the first time. He's installed our lifts and shocks, and we've never had any issues with it. There is no pressure to buy anything, he will tell you exactly whats going on with your rig and what you should do. And if that weren't enough, JSS is now doing fabrication items. He just posted a light weight shelf that mounts on the back roll bars. We defiantly want one for our jeep. I dropped by this shop today after hearing about it from a competitor. Todd greated me after jumping off his sky high lifted jeep. I asked him about a few issues I am experiencing with my JK after a airbag recall and a lift at a different shop. He took the time to look under the hood and even crawled under the truck and examined the quality of the lift which was done at (spring works) He said everything looked great and he suspected that the dealership had done an emissions upgrade on my computer that could be causing the idle issue I'm having. We continued a conversation about superchargers, off road trails, jeep groups and so on for at least 20minutes never once making me feel like I was wasting his time. Todd was very friendly and shared his knowledge openly. He gave me his honest opinion about a few upgrades that I wanted done, some of which he said were a waste of money although they are services he can do and make a pretty buck on. He saved me a few hundred dollars easy by guiding me in the right direction and not taking me for the lack of knowledge that I have. I will be using this shop for when I'm ready for my supercharger kit and when all goes well I will submit an updated review with pictures and a rating of my experience. read more

I brought my 2007 Rubicon to Todd to fix a computer problem that was affecting the shifting. My jeep has a 6.1 hemi with a 545RFE trans. Come to find out that all the work on my transmission by a different shop in Upland, CA was done all wrong. Todd not only fixed the computer issue and the transmission issue he replaced some bushings on the rear suspension and installed dual batteries. After trying to find a knowledgeable jeep shop in So Cal, which was a futile effort - I did locate Todd and Jeep Speed Shop and he and they are awesome. My jeep has never run and shifted better. I would recommend Todd to anyone and if there were a higher rating than 5 stars - he would get it from me. It's hard to leave Todd a bad review because he comes across as a nice guy who's willing to answer questions (when you can get a hold of) but he's very frustrating to deal with. I also had him do a Hemi swap into a JK a few years back and it also had all the same issues you hear about (over heating, CC not working, cheap fittings/adapters, etc). I think my biggest frustration was lack of responsibility and how confused Todd was when things went wrong. You're stuck at his mercy with very little accountability. So be ready if you're planing on doing a swap. read more

Absolutely amazing. If you look back at older reviews you'll see they went through a slump. Some bad staff left a few customers unhappy, but all of that has changed after management went through the business and wiped the slate clean. Now, they are once again the best engine swap experts for Jeeps HANDS DOWN. In my case, the most recent project was a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (not much left of the Rubicon though). 6.4 SRT Hemi Swap, Auto, Atlas 4 Speed. They not only tackled that with beautiful precision and an absolutely factory look, but they also took care of a half dozen other issues such as cleaning up some wiring from the previous owner, fixing ebrake issues, and much more. Their communication has been stellar. Their professionalism amazing. And the quality of work is beyond words. If you are looking for an engine swap, do not pass Go, do not collect $200, call these guys ASAP and do whatever you can to let Todd do this for you. read more

This Shop knows their stuff. I had an issue with my ABS sensor that 3 other locations could not resolve fixed here last week. They only had my Jeep for an hour and figured out the issue. Jeep Speed Shop is known for putting Hemi engines into Jeeps. However this is far too narrow a definition of Jeep Speed Shop's capabilities. Todd's own Jeep has a custom frame he built which I thought was factory made until he told me otherwise. Todd is a master of Jeeps from old Willy's to brand new Jeeps. Worst customer service ever!!! Spent 25k for a Hemi swap. Took 2 months longer then expected. Now I have an overheating problem and the cruise control doesn't work. He told me he was working on it. I tried contacting him several times after completion with no response!! He is full of information until he has your money. Then he turns into a ghost and never responds! I delivered my CJ-7 from Arizona to The Jeep Speed Shop in late February 2013 for a 5.3 L Chevy engine swap that Todd had advertized on the company web site. I paid a large deposit and was told that I could expect the job to be completed in 6-10 weeks. It has now been over 6 months and the job still is not finished. When I call to check on the progress, I usually get an answering machine which has a full mail box and cannot accept messages. When I can leave a message, my call will be returned about 20% of the time. I usually call every 10 days or so. I have been very patient with Todd and his long list of excuses and reasons for not getting the job done. However, at this point, I cannot recommend this shop as the customer service has been a complete disaster. I am still waiting for my jeep to be completed. When I do get to speak with Todd, I always here the same thing..... "two more weeks and it will be done". That has been going on for the past 5 months. I can only hope that the mechanical work will be worth this unacceptably long wait. read more

The owner of this company, Todd, does not know what he is doing!! I Paid Todd in advance for a hemi swap and supercharger and he kept my car for almost a year and barely touched it! He lied to me about ordering parts for my car and used the money I had given him for his other expenses instead of using it for the customer who paid it to him. I had to fly down there to ship my car to a different shop in S. Dakota out of my own pocket. When it came time for my refund he didn't have the money to pay it back to me. It took 3 months and a lot of me calling and bugging him for my money and he paid it back to me in bits and pieces. What kind of company doesn't have any back-up funds!? I saw all the negative reviews and thought it was right to give my point of view. I had my hemi swap done by Todd about 5 -6 years back. He took a while to do the job and was not fast in getting it done. So just know that going into it. I also paid an initial deposit but would never pay the whole thing in advance like others did. When I got the jeep back I had a few issues and Todd was always ready to assist. In fact him and I have gone through 3 different computer programs to try to make my jeep run better and faster. He is a stand up guy and is doing this work for the right reasons. He is slow in getting work done because he over promises to everybody. But his work is quality and does stand behind his work. I have a ls jk todd built with 725hp and it has been the best reliable jeep ive ever had and its tons of fun to drive. For all these douch bags with bad reviews are just impatient idiots. You cant rush perfection. My jeep took time but well worth it. Im going back for a twin turbo build on my 2nd jeep in spring time. You cant beat jeep speed shop prices eather.
