Anyone who has ever done the freelance/self-employed route will know the value of accountants in this world. The BIR and this country's tax system is just a big ball of headache, and it doesn't help too that I personally have ZERO knowledge about taxation and business registration. Thanks, college!
So I did all the registration by myself, with the help of the internet of course (the registration was incredibly tedious) and then for the first few months I did all my taxes (it was easy. I just had to put NO INCOME during some months, haha) but as soon as the quarterly taxes started to come in, I was clueless, and finally sought out for much needed professional help.
This was back in 2012, and this group of accountants just started their business. They treated me to pizza, all 6 of them, and I being their first client. Yes, little old me! Sitting with a bunch of really, REALLY NICE accountants, in a pizza joint! What a new and strange experience! My math IQ felt really insecure!
Ever since then, Fermin Domingo of JCDJCP & Associates has been taking care of my taxes and making sure I don't go to jail. He's one of the kindest, most patient people I have worked with (who puts up with the inconveniences of having me as a client), and I am very pleased with their services! I highly recommend this wonderful bunch of accountants if you're self-employed and want to turn over a new leaf and be a "responsible citizen", and to any entrepreneurs out there in need of some accounting work! read more
