I've been coming to Club Pilates for a few months now, and I'm so glad I decided to!…read more Prior to coming here, I had no experience with pilates--mat or reformer. I was very intimidated coming in to try reformer, so I opted for the free 30-minute intro class to see if it was something I'd enjoy doing. As someone who's never really enjoyed working out, I was surprised how much fun I had, and I think the staff made all the difference. Each instructor and desk worker are so, so kind and attentive, and the studio is always cozy and clean. Pilates can be expensive, but it's SO worth it in my opinion! (Plus, there's a discount for healthcare workers and other ways to save based on your subscription tier). I've only been coming for a few months, but I already notice a difference in my strength, balance, and overall physique after only coming 6-8 times a month. We love Club Pilates Parkville!

The coaches and staff are knowledgeable and experts in their field. They are super helpful and always there to encourage and willing to go to extra lengths to work with anyone on improving their fitness, exercise proficiency, and establishing goals. More importantly, they are welcoming, friendly, and always get everyone motivated to make every workout energetic, challenging and fun. We feel like they are family and look forward to seeing them and working out with them throughout each week. The other secret ingredient to CrossFit Northland is the members themselves. They come from all types of backgrounds and ages, and their proficiency/fitness levels range from beginners to professional athletes. They are all friendly and welcoming and do their share of encouraging and motivating too. We have made many friends among the other members, and value them as family too. Everyone feels like they belong, and there is a strong sense of community. Everybody encourages each other. No intimidation or judging - everybody (coaches included) is just glad you are there and getting after it, no matter what the level of your fitness or proficiency. My wife and I have always embraced fitness as an integral part of our lifestyle. We have always belonged to gyms or worked out on our own and enjoy being active and are relatively new to CrossFit. We both feel like the atmosphere at CFN created by the coaches, staff and members has been a significantly positive improvement in our lives. It is always a great feeling to finish a workout, feel like you have challenged yourself and accomplished something, and had fun doing it among friends at the same time. Thanks CFN!

My son has been attending here since last year. He signed up for Bully Prevention. We are very…read morehappy with it. He's 10 now. First, the main teacher, Mr. Palmer is really impressive. He always remembers all the kids names. There can be like 20 kids and 3 new kids and he will call all their names out like he's known them forever. Palmer is great with the kids. They love him. He can speak their language. There are times he is correcting my son's moves and my son won't even get mad about it. When I try to correct them it's an ordeal. So, I really appreciate his connection with the kids. There are other students and teachers in the class getting trained to teach by Palmer. They are all very patient and help with over flow. Palmer recently had a child, so he's had to transition some of his classes and it's all gone smoothly. He is still there most of the time though. He seems to really love his job. I wasn't really looking for some serious martial arts place for my son to attend. I just wanted to try it and see if he was even interested in the first place. Some could say these classes aren't super strict or they let the kids get away with not having moves perfect, just little details, before moving them further. I really don't care about that. The kids are having fun, there are some very young and have all the moves memorized. So what if a foot isn't bent correctly or if a leg isn't completely straight or bent in certain stances. We are talking about 3-5 year olds here. If my son wants to continue with another teacher in the future to learn a more strict routine, then that's up to him. Right now he's learning some amazing moves, defense, and self pride. He loves going, he loves his teacher, and at the end of the day he is getting a lot of exercise and discipline. Saturdays are nuts! They work those kids. Every student pushes themselves to better themselves at their own pace and Palmer communicates that. All he really asks that you memorize your routines and moves, paractive, keep a good diet, be confident, and be respectful. Also, I wanted to add, they have a toddler room with toys, so if you have to bring a really small one to practice there is a place to sit with them and entertain them, if needed.

This is a difficult review for me to write, as I LOVED barre and some of the instructors here…read more Barre would've helped me achieve my fitness goals and I would've been a life long member. The workouts were intense and pretty easy to modify to a difficulty level that is suited for you. Some of the instructors were lovely. Jill was my absolute favorite and probably one of the sweetest souls I've ever met. Kelsi was a close second. She has such an upbeat personality that made me want to try harder. Here is the hard part: This was the first experience with this type of fitness, and I had a very awkward "first" day. I walked in late to my very first class. I expected someone to be at the front desk to discuss rescheduling. I didn't know that there wouldn't be anyone there. The owner was teaching the class that day and came out to talk to me. She seemed a little frustrated, which was understandable. I was told I couldn't go in because the class had started, which I completely understood. But, I thought I would spend a few minutes to watch a class to see what I was getting myself in to, but the owner came back out to ask me if I needed something else. It was obvious I wasn't suppose to hang out in the lobby and I left. Once I finally got in, I was disappointed. The class atmosphere and just overall "welcome" feeling I would expect with higher price tag, was lacking. It was very cliquey and those ladies didn't talk to anyone outside of their group. There was "that one" group in every single class I attended. It's not the studios fault, but being a new member, it made me feel like I was in high school. Occasionally, there would be one or two nice ladies who helped me get the necessary tools my first few classes, but that was rare. My friend was super turned off by this during her trial class and decided not to join. I don't mind sitting by myself, but it is something to consider if you're used to a friendly gym. One other issue was the attitude of the owner. My schedule varies greatly from day to day and this was explained in detail to the owner. It was decided that the class pack would be the best option for me. I was concerned about the expiration date of the class pack but was re-assured that the expiration could be extended due to my hectic work schedule conflicts. She honored it when I needed it but it with great hesitation. I tried to go to every single class possible so I didn't abuse her generosity. At first, I thought she had RBF, but by the end of my pack, I definitely felt like she didn't like me. She corrected my position forcefully with almost with an irritated tone, then immediately switched into the nice, energetic tone when she got on the microphone. It was also the same when I would make conversation with her in the lobby. I want to give her the benefit of the doubt, because we started off on the wrong foot. But it was hard to do, as she never really smiled at me and would just look at me very irritated when I had questions after class. It made me feel like I didn't belong. The way I explain this place to people who are interested is, if you were in a sorority, you would love this place. If Jill or Kelsi taught elsewhere, I would sign up in heartbeat.
