We got the pineapple french toast and the taro Saturn burger, and my non- vegetarian boyfriend said it was the best veggie burger he's ever had (also it had delicious pickles on it so that's a big plus). I also got the frozen hot chocolate which was fantastic as well. It's great if you're not into coffee but want something chocolaty and cold. Stopped by here early in the morning on our way to hike Sleeping Giant for some coffee. We were probably the first customers of the day. I ordered one of their specialty drinks and it was delicious! Hawaiian coffee can't be beat. The baristas were very friendly and the service was very fast being it was so early! We were blown away by the food here! The pineapple French toast was nothing short of legendary -- truly the nectar of the gods. We normally don't indulge in dishes like this, but since we were on vacation, we decided to treat ourselves, and wow... it was worth every bite. We biked up and down the path and this was a great stop to refuel. They bring your food to your table and overall it was pretty fast even during "rush hour" for breakfast. We saw yelp reviews and were so excited about the bbq pork burrito, but sadly it was around "5 menus ago" - the sandwich was still good though, just not what we initially wanted. We came here to order lunch and drinks to go Wednesday 12/18 at 12:50pm. Order #17 We were given a buzzer that was supposed to go off when our food was ready. Got our drinks and waited around 20 min for two sandwiches. I got up eventually to ask about our order since it was not busy and our buzzer had not gone off. Turns out the food was sitting on a small table behind the counter and no one had noticed or let us know. We took the food quickly and walked back. Once we were back at our hotel I opened the box that was supposed to my curried chicken salad sandwich and it was literally just a pile of chicken salad on spinach with no bread in sight?! There is not even an option to order this as a salad so I was both confused and disappointed. My boyfriend's sandwich was good but he had asked for no tomato and received tomato on it (which he picked off). This could have been rectified but the staff has been incredibly unresponsive. I have called multiple times with no answer, as well as messaged them on instagram, which they have said is the quickest way to get a response. I have been trying to get a refund for at least my portion of the order, but have been left on read twice. I'm posting this review in hopes of getting a response. A frequent stop during my stay on Kaua'i was Java Kai. Their oat milk latte for $6 was the best I tasted on the island and the same price as the ones in Los Angeles. Their sunrise brekkie for $15 was a perfect papaya with greek yogurt, granola, a generous portion of delicious bacon, and a toasted bagel served with cinnamon butter.It was such a large portion that I took the bagel back to my condo to eat later. There is nothing like eating local fruit; the papaya and pineapple were the best I've ever tasted! Portuguese sausage (home made) and egg sandwich with machego and romesco for $16 was a heartier breakfast choice and the home made sausage elevated it to a preferred choice if you like breakfast sandwiches. Their turkey club comes with a side salad that was good on its own and the sandwich itself was well balanced portions of all the ingredients for $16. read more

I think my husband and I had Java Kai 5 times during our 7 day honeymoon. The coffee here is delicious. We are big coffee snobs and this place really knows that they're doing. The house made syrups are so delicious and something we absolutely look for when trying new shops. The banana bread is also delicious.
