Food, service, ambiance, vibe, everything here is outstanding and they want to make you feel special. The owner came out several times to our table and even took pictures for us. This is what you want for a fun time AND a fine dining experience! Everyone was pleased and we had a table of 8! I highly recommend.

Absolutely lovely experience! I went here for my birthday last month, but just now got around to reviewing. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was intriguing, and the owners and staff were so kind and welcoming! We got the fried frog legs as an appetizer, the duck breast, the beef short rib, and the chocolate cake dessert (forgive me for forgetting the exact name of this item). They even added a candle to my dessert, knowing I was visiting out of town so I didn't have an actual "birthday cake", but this was so much better than a traditional cake, and the thoughtfulness of the staff made me feel so included! Everything we had was excellent, I can't wait to return! Thank you for making my birthday so special!

We went here for Jargon's annual Mardi Gras celebration, which has become a well-known local event, but which has its own special menu. So while the specifics of what we had to eat won't necessarily be available on their regular menu, I think the comments about the food and service will give you some idea of what this restaurant is like. First of all, don't judge the book by its cover. It's not the most attractive place on the outside but it's in West Asheville where funky often comes with the territory. Inside it's got real cozy charm though. The outside patio was covered and heated so it was nice even on a late winter evening. The service here is outstanding -- among the best I've experienced in Asheville. Friendly, but not overdone or phony. Attentive without hovering and efficient without being too pushy. The timing was perfect as we enjoyed 3 courses over 2 hours. We weren't rushed at all. We started with cocktails: a sazerec, since this was a Mardi Gras dinner and this is a famous New Orleans cocktail. They may not have this on their regular cocktail menu, but they should. It was perfectly mixed. For appetizers we had vegan red beans and rice and charred okra with a lemon remoulade sauce. It's rare to find a non-pork version of red beans and rice, so kudos for this. The spicing was well done and this dish was tasty. The okra was perfectly charred and the sauce was an excellent accompaniment. For one of the entrees we had a gumbo with trumpet mushrooms in the sauce and grilled lion's mane mushrooms on top. They were sliced like cuts of beef and had a nice savory meaty flavor that went well with the gumbo sauce. For the other entree it was a crawfish pot pie. The filing was a roux where the celery was the star. You could taste it and it had just a bit of crunchiness left to it. The crawfish were delicious. The crust on top was also excellent, like a really good but light biscuit. For dessert we had their version of beignets. They weren't bad, but compared to "real" beignets from New Orleans, they were a let down. Still, they were fine to close out the meal with, along with great decaf French pressed coffee (the best decaf coffee I've ever had!). We'll definitely come back to try their regular menu.

Phenomenal! Every dish provided a blend of natural ingredients with flavors that excited the palate. I never knew that broccoli could taste so amazing. The slightest char along with hummus and jelly was exquisite. The pea salad with pecans added a blend of sweetness along with the goat cheese. Lastly, the field pea perloo with snap peas and mushrooms on a bed of rice was a great pairing. Mushrooms harvested from the morning, I would say, made its way to a great main entree. Lovely and quaint restaurant. Yes, they have a wonderful covered patio for your four-legged best friend to attend.

We had the most delightful dinner ever at jargon! We walked in with no reservation on a Friday night & got seated in the lovely courtyard with heaters & firepits to make it really cozy. The food and drinks were amazing and the service was too!! We will definitely be back on our next Asheville visit.

A perfect evening. My husband and I sat outside on the back terrace and both enjoying a glass of wine to start. We shared the spring pea salad and cheese to begin our meal. He ordered the chicken, despite never ordering chicken out, and he did not regret it! Corn bread and bok choy accompanied his dish and all the flavors were sweet and delicious. I enjoyed the whole trout entree. They de-boned it table-side and it came with potatoes, mushrooms and asparagus. Fantastic and filling dish!! We somehow found room for the pana cota. I probably enjoyed this slightly more than my husband but we would but give this restaurant a 10/10! Great, friendly staff and kind owner.

Culinary excellence with a comfortable atmosphere! I always get imposter syndrome in fancy restaurants, but here I felt comfortable and relaxed. The staff were superb at explaining the menu and not making you feel less than. Everything about this restaurant was steps above anything/anywhere I've been before. I didn't get a picture of my husbands duck dish, but it was divine! And I am picky eater so I didn't expect to like it!

The hostesses and our waitress were outstanding. Really hospitable and the service was exceptional. Sadly, our meals weren't as good as they looked. The mushroom appetizer was interesting and tasty, but my duck entrée was overcooked and underwhelming. Thankfully, my husband's pork chop was big enough to share, but even that wasn't up to the level the menu and prices implied.

Rachel was an amazing bartender and server. We loved listening to Billy Holiday while sipping our wine. The ambiance is very romantic. The menu is concise. It's put together with intention and everything we had was good. The gazpacho was the best we've ever had. Really hit the spot on a summer day. Their cheese selection was a nice mixture and delicious. I really like how the veg and gluten free stuff was easy to identify and had lots of options for.

Fantastic food, service, and atmosphere. Loved the flavors and best meal we've had while visiting the Ashville area for a 4 day trip.

Undercooked crunchy sushi rice is a no go, as well as, overcooked mushrooms. Totally unacceptable for a $42 dish.

Ask the Community - Jargon

Are they dog friendly on the back patio?

Yes, they were very accommodating.

Is there a recommended dress for Dinning in?

No, very casual

How is the parking?

There is street parking in front of the restaurant, and a lot across the street that is for an old, closed down bank and an operational church, so be careful and don't park in the church section or you may get towed.

I used to live in this area so was excited to find this new to me spot. It's a mix of a wine/cocktail/dessert/vinyl bar. The music was amazing and the vibe was perfect. I loved the natty wines they had to pick from and the extremely unique menu. Our server was super sweet and helpful. My best friend enjoyed her cocktail and we decided to share the dessert flight. Our favorite part was the sundae, I highly recommend getting their ice creams. The tiramisu and truffles were fine compared to the sundae. When we were there they played a great mix of Robyn, Whitney Houston, and some other artists. It feels like you're in your cool friend's living room. This is a great spot for a date or to meet up with friends. I can't wait to return when I'm back in town.

This was one of THE most unique wine/cocktail bar I've been to for a few reasons. I loved the way their menu was formatted with details on flavor profiles, styles and separated into quadrants. They had a small food menu that was very intriguing and eccentric. My eyes locked in on the Thai Tea Panna Cotta! OMG yum! It was decadent, luscious and was so flavorful. The layered coconut milk and that lemon meringue on top was such a nice touch of acid to cut through all that richness. I'm a sucker for boba pearls too so it was all delicious. Our server was so friendly and helped us through the menu. She checked in on us periodically and made sure we were taken care of. They were also playing great music! I would highly recommend this place for all sorts of vibes - girls night out, date night or even just solo. Can't wait to come back!
