We came on a wet Tuesday, and only realized how big it is, once we came. The map directions will direct you to the main store, which consists of 3 stories, each with a very big footprint. We didn't really find anything we liked, so ended up leaving disappointed after a while. Once we got outside though, we noticed another door next door, also called Marche Saint Pierre, but this time with Dreyfus in the name. This is even a bigger store, with 6 levels of fabrics, all connected through stairs and elevators. They had similar fabrics as the previous, but ended up finding something that we wanted. Once we got the attention of a consultant, he quickly cut a meter off of the bolt. It ended up costing under 20€, and was easy to pack away. Paying using a credit card was easy, and we were on our way.

I actually…read moretook 3 trains to get to this street where I originally wanted to come to another shop I found in Google. I thought it was closed so I came in to Neuftex. One thing that makes me happy, as a fabric shopper is the light in the showroom so you can appreciate the texture and colors on the fabric better. This store had plenty of it. I was also happy that the owners are pretty fluent in English, Sarah, even lived in Tampa for a number of years. Now, they carry GORGEOUS, designer fabric in bolts what you can but as much as you like, and they also have precut fabric for $10 to $20 per meter... My language!! These are amazing fabrics, they even took me to their basement to checkout more cuts. Unfortunately I had very limited space in my luggage, otherwise I'd have bought a lit more than I did (about $150 euros worth) The owners were super friendly, I will definitely be back when in Paris!!

They also have regular fabrics of course, but nothing was less than 25 euros per meter. Fabrics are not given any special treatment wether is 25 euros a meter or 150 euros a meter, they are all either leaning against the wall in their bolts, or stacked on the same metal shelves you see at the Home Depot. This is a shop for professionals, not for the aficionado like myself. It also didn't help that the lady there didn't speak English at all. Obviously not expected, but it is nice when they do. I didn't ended up getting anything here, but I spent a good 45 minutes just ogling at the fabric. Regardless, this is an amazing place, they carry lots and lots of trims, thread, buttons etc, everything you need to make a fabulous outfit. This street has other fabric shops as well, seems to be a little fabric district of sorts. Really cool.

You can't do much with under a yard, but at 3 meters the possibilities are pretty expansive. Sacrés Coupons has been around forever and have a couple locations in the same area. There's always good deals and interesting materials. It's not a grab bag of discarded/ugly/icky materials, but it does feel like organized chaos inside. I picked up several interesting and great quality coupons here for a great price. My mom used to drag me here in the 90s and I'm pretty sure I still have some of that vintage yardage in storage! Also, for whatever reason, it feels like silk (soie) and wool (laine) is so much cheaper here than stateside. So if that's your jam, check it out on your fabric adventures in Paris. Coupons are much less intimidating for non-French speakers because you don't have to figure out cutting and all that, just grab the piece and go pay.
