I've ordered a cake from them before and it was delicious and beautifully decorated. However, when I called to place another order, the customer service was disappointing. The person on the phone sounded rude and impatient, like my call was an inconvenience. I understand they may be busy or short-staffed, but I didn't feel welcomed or helped, so I chose not to order again." read more

Joy is amazing, best cakes ever thank you for taking care of me on such short notice.

Noticed a bad review commenting about how old the good reviews were for Janet's cakes. So, I thought I'd leave my own review for the record. I have been a 36-year customer. I bought my oldest child's first birthday cake here when we moved here in 1990. When that same child graduated from law school in another state, Janet's did the celebration cake and I drove that cake 15 hours to her graduation. I buy at least 6 cakes there every year and I literally have only had to complain about one cake! By my calculations, I have bought and devoured at least 186 cakes from Janet's! :) When you order a cake, they ask how many are you serving? I always tell them to make the sheet cake that feeds 15-20 people even though there are only 6 of us eating it. Why? Because every last morsel is consumed within days of bringing it home! I love that Janet's employee Joy knows my name whenever I call or pick up. I love that my business is appreciated and that even when good workers are hard to find, they are still open and doing business. My family would be so disappointed if anything happened to this business. I am traveling soon to visit family for another birthday and I'm taking a Janet's Cake with me because even my extended family loves their cakes! Thank you, Janet's for being part of my family and making cakes for our happy occasions as well as cakes for some sad ones too. You've done it all for us and I can't express enough how much it means to my family. Signed, A forever-loyal Janet's customer read more

Called for prices. The lady was answered was rude when I asked for a price of a 8in cake I asked for the next size up price then she said "how many people are you serving I'm not going throw all the prices" like a simple "how many people are you serving" would of been good alone. No need to add the "I'm not going throw all the price" with a Annoyed tone in her voice so sad to lose a customer over a Unnecessary comment i actually love the cakes here but i guess im going somewhere now read more

just ordered my husbands 80th birthday cake. Went to Janets cakery all my husband family really loved the cake.

A couple of weeks ago, I needed a birthday cake and I needed it fast to celebrate a birthday of one of my stellar employees for that afternoon. On the drive to Corpus Christi, I called Janet's Cakery and asked if they could make a Red Velvet birthday cake for 20 to 25 people with cream cheese frosting. I also asked them to decorate the cake and make it look good. Then, I had the audacity to ask, can you deliver the cake to me in downtown Corpus by 2 pm. These folks accepted the challenge and met and exceeded my expectations. Now y'all know that I am a pretty particular woman when it comes to my food and I do not toss out 5 star ratings Willy Nilly. However, I am so happy to report that Janet's Cakery delivered a delicious and beautiful cake to the office--on time. I just wished that I had remembered to take a picture of the cake, but I did not. I am giving them a 5 star rating for the outstanding service and another 5 stars because the cake was absolutely delicious. Well done, Janet Cakery! I am a fan for life!!!! Y'all know how we do, if you have a sweet tooth and you are jonesing for some cake, you better go get you some at Janet's Cakery. read more

Zero stars. If you notice all "good" reviews are from years ago. I went in earlier this week. And as always, month after month this place is getting worse & worse! Cookies are NEVER fresh, you're better off getting fresh cookies at the grocery store they are so much better, fresh and cheaper too. Take a peak at the back and you'll notice MOLD on ceilings. The most disgusting floors. I feel like the place is being taken over by clutter, mold, bugs & rodents. It "looks" like the company only cares about hoarding then keeping the place clean, a place where they serve food to the public. Not clean. Not worth my money anymore, or my time. Im done waiting forever in lines at Janet's cakery for old cupcakes and old cookies! How is this place still open? And other places are closed? Blows my mind read more

Excellent cakes. Absolutely delicious! Cakes are moist, made from scratch and taste like heaven in your mouth.

I'll never in my life buy or support Janet's Cakery ever again. They're system Terminal on two separate occasions has over charged me and yet on their side it shows up as "cancelled" they will repeatedly swipe my card putting hundreds of dollars on HOLD and tell me I'm out of luck leaving me with NO cake and NO MONEY. when I tried to explain this to the owner she rudely turned her body away from me cutting me off and said "oh well" my family and I literally used this cakery for every family birthday and occasion so it's sad to see her act this way on two separate occasions. And because it's not a bank card I'll have to file an online claim and wait weeks for that money back. Happy birthday to me I guess. It would be ZERO stars if I could. read more

My sister-in-law picked up a chocolate icing on chocolate cake from Janet's for my 53rd birthday. I was a bit hesitant with so much chocolate. As an RN, I joke that America's healthcare system is fueled by caffeine and chocolate. But a chocolate cake with chocolate icing? Can it possibly be delicious? Have no fear, it was exceptional! I am not a big icing fan. Seldom do I find icing on anything to my liking. Oh my gosh, I could have swam in a 55 gallon vat of this chocolate icing. Just perfect. Not too sweet, excellent base flavors, and just the right amount. The cake was moist and delicate. I cannot find the words except to say I could not have asked for a better cake. The decorative colors, looking like confetti and streamers across the cake, were brilliant and placed perfectly. I was impressed that the bright colored icing was not bitter in the slightest. Highly recommended. read more

NEVER AGAIN. Bought a cake for my grandmas birthday. $50 for a 8 in double layer cake. The whole cake fell apart. When we went to the restaurant they even called me to the kitchen and asked me "what do you want us to do, it's falling off." I think I'll stick to making cakes with my grandma. The cake with they pink writing is from Janet's. The cake with the dolls in it were homemade and hand decorated. read more

Been here twice in the last few mo this, not for a cake but just a couple of cream puffs and cupcakes and a coffee cake. Very nice lady helped me, great service. Wanted chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting-they didn't have any made up but put them together for me no problem. Hubby loves their cream puffs. The coffee cake is wonderful. Fresh and tasty. We didn't know where to start being from Austin. So we took the advice of my SIL whom is from Portland. Well I can't think of one bad thing to say about them. I ordered my sons cake twice once the week before Thanksgiving and again when I arrived to pick up our Thanksgiving pies (they lost my order) I drove in to pick it up today over a hours drive. One way he was so excited when he saw the cake but when we tasted it they had used a spicy icing like what goes on a carrot cake (the cake was strawberry) I called only to explain about the icing the young man that answered was very rude and hung up on me when I ask his name long story short I don't think that Janets's Cakery holds the same rating they have had for so many years read more

Janet's is my best recommendation! 5's for Weddings! Rebecca was wonderful to work with. I just sent pictures and then we discussed a few personalized touches and voilà the most beautiful wedding cake I've ever seen...and it was mine!! Everyone raved about it and how delicious it was. I've gotten cakes from Janet's for years never disappoints..until today. I'm so disappointed in the service I received after years. 0 stars given. I have bought cupcakes/cakes from Janet's Cakery in the past six months and all have been bad. Come one people, everyone works hard for their money and they expect to get what they paid for, mind you they are not cheap. If you know they are old, you should do the right thing and "discount" them. Instead you chose the other. I just went this past weekend and ordered a dozen cupcakes. I got all three flavors, white, chocolate and strawberry, while they all looked good, they were ALL HARD. Anyone could tell that they were not fresh, but definitely days old. How to you sell that knowing they are old? You expect your money, well I also would like my money used on something worth eating. They all went in the trash. FAILURE HUNDRED FOLD. I hope you read this review and consider to be good to you community and do the right thing, by either "discounting them" or throw them away if they are more than 2 days old. read more

They were suppose to make my wedding cake like the one on the left, except I received the one on the right... we paid close to $600 for what was suppose to turn out looking like the one on the left, I suggest if you have a very special occasion and spend as much as we did, do not trust them with your cake... so disappointed, will never do business with them again! Plus, the cake itself was crumbling and tasted old! read more

Joy helped me with a gender reveal cake. She was helpful and did everything without revealing the gender to me (the results were in a pdf in my phone). My family ordered a tiered cake for our mother's 90th birthday. It was ordered and paid for two weeks before the birthday party. Less than a week before the pickup date we received a call to verify the order. On the pickup day we went to pick the cake and and found out much to our shock there was no cake! The birthday party was delayed 2 hours so that a cake could be made. The cake was very delicious and decorated nicely but having to wait for a pre-ordered pre-paid cake was not acceptable. Last year the same thing happened to our niece's sweet 16 party. The order for her pre- paid tiered cake was not ready on the day of the party either. Our suggestion is to continually call the store up until the day before the event to insure the making of the cake. read more

We've been customers since the late 1990's and not once have they disappointed us. We had our wedding cake made with them as well as more birthday and special event cakes than I can remember. Even our special requests are taken care of. They also have a variety of fresh baked cookies that are to die for. This year we're trying their fruit cake along with the usual Christmas cookies. They made a Yule Log for us one year. Yep. That was good, too. The owners Pat and Janet are wonderful people with good hearts, which shines through in their baked goods. I love the smell when I walk in there. It takes me back to my childhood and the old fashioned bakery my momma would take me to for my favorite treat, a gingerbread man. But it's the cakes - so light and delicious with that scratch made butter cream icing - that keeps us coming back all these years. Oh yum! read more

I SOOOOO love Yelp!!! In Corpus for work. Important meeting with client ...before noon. Read somewhere if you're trying to butter someone up, take pastries. Thus, I do a Yelp search and Janet's is the highest ranking place in the area. So, off I go... Where to start?! The smell if freshly baked yummiest permeates the air. The selection is ahhhhhhmazzzzing! They even have Pineapple Upside Down Cake?! I got the Petite Fours ~ which were a steal?! ..and beautiful. Didn't taste them but I had this Caramel, Nut Brownie that was to die for!!! read more

Very basic cake. I ordered a chocolate cake and gave specific details that I wanted a purple ombré and I got a straight line of purple then a line of white. It came out so funny looking. I bake cakes from the box for fun sometimes and the cake tasted just like that. Passing through H‑E‑B they have cakes that are the same size as the one I got but for $25. I should have gone there and saved myself over $100. They ask for photos but don't look at them. They get so busy here, there's no effort in making the cake look special. Very unsatisfied. read more

I often call Janet's to order a cake on short notice. The last few times, the women who usually answers has been short, talks over you and handles the transaction in a robotic and impersonal manner. I usually ignore it but yesterday, I brought it to her attention and instead of apologizing she puts me on hold to basically hang up or end the conversation. I hate seeing a company that has been in business for years become complacent or uncaring. I don't think I'll return and hope someone else points this out before they lose more business. As far as the cake, it's good but sadly no longer better tasting than HEB or another local cake shop. I enjoy supporting small businesses however, I'll go elsewhere from now on. Good luck and I hope they turn this around. read more
