Intimate 1 room gallery, enough for a nice showing. Neighbors good cafes. This gallery is worth a visit!

The entrance is street level with a coat room, bathrooms, and a sitting room. The staircase going upstairs is beautiful. There is also an elevator. The event spaces are similar to a parlor. The tea sandwiches and small desserts were delicious. Tea, coffee, soda and wine were also available. The third floor parlor had plenty of room for 6-7 tables. It was easy to hear the speaker. The venue is impeccably clean.

A single, small elevator--furnished with a small love-seat bench, which seemed slightly unnecessary and space-stealing for the limited number of floors housed in The Acorn Club--brought us to the second floor and its dining room. The Acorn Club's dining room is absolutely beautiful: especially the blue, damask wallpaper and the glittering chandeliers and wall sconces. The table seats and cloth napkins (both shades of dusky rose) were luxurious to the touch and the table settings were impeccable. Food-wise, the appetizer and dessert stole the show. The butternut squash soup was piping hot, creamy, and delicious--very similar to the version my mother makes for holidays. And the chocolate-and-vanilla mousse garnished with milk and white chocolate shavings was perfect (as was the almond lace cookie I may have also sampled). Meanwhile, the main course of (dry) chicken and (overdressed) salad was only so-so. Service-wise, the servers was a little surlier than you might expect in that setting, but for one of my fellow diners a polite and slightly apologetic response for putting her water glass too far to the center of the table seemed to break the ice enough to allow the server to seem less resentful. We left wondering how one becomes a member of this Club. Unfortunately the website still leaves us wondering.

Palizzi Filippo Social club is this pinnacle restaurant serving people who love this cuisine. My daughter-in-law is a member and invited me (from Chicago) to fly here and sample what a true Italian dinner club can create; and create they did. Our host (my daughter-in-iaw) was as gracious as the people working here. Everyone was cordial and polite and couldn't do enough to make this dinner special. We had: * A Caesar salad that was dressed perfectly topped with white anchovies - fantastic * Brasciole - was this Italian dish of thin-cut beef pounded, stuffed, rolled, and braised in tomato sauce - exceptional * Escarole and Beans - is this thick stew with rich Italian flavors - loved it * Pasta with Crab - super red sauce dish which was delicious * Ravioli with ricotta, spinach and egg yolk - a classic * Sausage with fennel, broccoli rabbe, calabrese chili - super good * Lamb Chops - marinated in garlic and parsley - was the star of this show * Fritto Misto with baccala & gianchetti, roasted garlic aioli - could have eaten two of these dishes Palizzi ran like a Swiss Clock! Everything going on here tonight was working on all cylinders: The service, the temperatures of the food, the ambiance were all perfect. This old school restaurant with its old school vibe even had a coin operated cigarette machine in the front of the house, and you can't get more old school than that. Palizzi has a lot of rules, as do most private clubs, like no cellphones and a multitude of other rules, making this restaurant very unique. I have been to several private dinner clubs in my life; in such places as Los Angeles, Providence, RI, San Francisco and Hong Kong just to name a few. Palizzi Filippo Social Club definitely belongs in this heady group listed above. Palizzi Filippo Social Club having been around since 1918 has put an indelible stamp on its presence in this city!
