Stay away if you don't want a call from a collection agency. I only saw this doctor once. He…read morereferred me to someone else. I gave them hard copies of EVERYTHING I did with the previous ENT. They had ALL my information. The visit was back in March. I just got off the phone with a collection agency. There are places that do this. Apparently, their accounting department doesn't have it together enough to send a letter, email, or call when you owe a bill. You just get surprised by a collection agency. It's just completely inexcusable, and that's an understatement. I realize this day and age absolutely everything is done by a computer and programs. Well, they can blame the program, but it should be their responsibility to contact someone before just submitting a bill to a collection agency. It's not, though. You just have to trust the entity to do will give some kind of notice. Well, don't trust this place. You can't pay your bill on your way out, and you can't get notification when they get around to determining what is owed. Such a clever system. I wish there were some way to hold entities like this accountable for their carelessness and lack of professionalism far beyond a bad review. Sadly, this all I can do while trying to provide fair warning to others. This doctor Barlow was nice and is quite possibly a great ENT. However, he wasn't worth getting a call from a collection agency, that is for sure. If you don't want to hear from one, definitely don't use this place. I received no letter, email or call. I can't even believe it.

I originally found Dr. Barlow after I had some allergy issues and had a negative experience elsewhere. What a night and day difference. He was very attentive and did a great job helping me. Then I met Dr Green and she helped me so much with my hearing loss, and continued that great service as I had them adjusted over the next couple of visits. I can't imagine going anywhere else. They have convenient underground parking and an exceptional staff. One of the best/most successful medical experiences I have ever had. Count me as a customer for life.

When i finally got around to following up on a doctor's advice from a few years ago to get myself…read morechecked for an allergy to bee stings, i ended up seeing Dr. Montanaro at OHSU's Allergy and Immunology Clinic. Dr. Montanaro is an Attending, so the first person i talked to was a Resident working for him. Much like the role a nurse often fills, i talked to her about why i was there, my medical history, and such. She took notes, went to discuss it with Dr. Montanaro, and a few minutes later they both came in. Dr. Montanaro and i talked for a few minutes to make sure he understood the scope of my prior allergic reaction, then he explained why he thought it would save everyone some time, money, and discomfort to skip actual allergy testing. He made it very clear that if i wanted to do the blood test, they'd be perfectly willing, but he was confident that i'm at very low risk for anaphylaxis (severe, life-threatening allergic reaction) and probably shouldn't worry about it. He gave me advice on how to avoid future exposure, how to treat myself if i do get stung, and encouraged me to take a prescription for an epi-pen just in case things got out of hand (multiple stings, etc). After that, he even took a few minutes to discuss my two minor food allergies. He talked about how people with one allergy are at higher risk for the other, so it's not coincidence that i have both, and so on. Really, i learned a staggering amount in my 30 minute appointment _and_ didn't have to get stabbed or scratched, so i'm pretty happy with it all. Dr. Montanaro is friendly, helpful, and willing to take the time to make sure you understand as much as you want to.

This review is for the office and total patient experience, as I have not ever seen Dr. Bilstrom. I…read moreknow they recently changed ownership or practitioner or whatever, and so we had to re-establish care (and pay AGAIN for the intake visit). However, every step of the way has been frustrating, confusing, and poorly run. First, to schedule an appointment was incredibly frustrating because she would not let me book without knowing if my insurance was in network. So I had to hang up and literally spend 45 minutes trying to verify they were in network with my own insurance even when I told her on the website it looked like it was. I also spent a solid 15 minutes on the phone with her going over all my insurance information and she claimed it was in my account now. When I get to the appointment, I AGAIN have to give my insurance information. They made it a point to ask me for it again, and asked me to send them the card to their email etc etc. which makes sense but they said they didnt have the information at all! The appointment itself was uncomfortable because they have a very cheap little blood pressure machine that takes SO long to read that my arm actually went painfully numb. I am a nurse myself and I know a bad machine when I see one. My blood pressure typically runs 95/55 (or close to). This machine pumped my arm up so high on the cuff, into the solid 200's and then slowly trickled down over what felt like an eternity. There is NO way you get an accurate BP with a machine like that, and its not wonder why after minutes of pain, my blood pressure read 120/70, which appears textbook normal but is actually high for me. Then I go to pay for my intake appointment and they can not provide receipts. They got my email and said I would get an emailed receipt, which I promptly never did (still waiting 3 weeks later). I DID however, get a bill in the mail which does not reflect the amount I paid that day, and now I have spent 3 days trying to get ahold of the billing department. I kept giving this clinic a shot. On my second appointment when I walked in, lo and behold, I was asked AGAIN for my insurance information??? Do they seriously not have it? I not only gave it to you on the phone, but also wrote it on my intake paperwork (in TWO different spots btw), emailed you a copy, and here we still are. She couldnt find the email, so I had to email it again. What a mess. After my allergy test, I was told I would be getting information on the cost for treatment in the coming weeks. I have not heard a thing, which is understandable as sometimes insurances take forever. However, I did start receiving incessant texts and emails about a prescription that I received, which the doctor totally failed to mention she would be prescribing. While waiting for one of my appointments, a gentleman arrived to check in for his appointment, and when he did, he was told he needed to pay his balance. He was so confused and said to the lady, "I've been coming here for 4 years, I have never paid a cent. Why do I have a balance now out of nowhere?" So it is not just me that is stuck in a messy situation. They seem to be a mess. This clinic is disorganized and it makes for a very awful experience. The actual medical care is mediocre. I do not recommend.

The employee who checked me in was very pleasant while providing training for a new hire. Nurse Carey, very warm and professional throughout. I was referred here for food allergy testing (quick and painless), and I felt the doctor took time to hear about my whole medical story, not simply concerned with getting me in and out as fast as possible. My daughter had skin prick testing done in this office (something we have done 3x in other offices so we are familiar with it) and unfortunately the lack of care taken to run an accurate test has resulted in what appears to be cross contamination and inadequate spacing between tests. The tests were run in two rows down her back and 1-2cm apart. Her known allergens were run at the top of her back and the ones we had questions about at the bottom. When the nurse came in to measure after 15 minutes she took a single dry cotton ball and wiped down each line of testing thus wiping known allergens into areas of unknown allergens. At the 15 minute mark the unknown allergens were non-reactive however as she measured and as Tyler and I spoke suddenly non-reactive areas started to react. Tyler did mention that the test was laid out very close together and that it was interesting that the reactions were delayed. Unfortunately it took me 24 hours to realize what may have happened and when I called the clinic to discuss and request a retest I was told I could pay again and make another appointment and that they were not willing to retest as a courtesy. On a positive note, Tyler took time to answer questions and discuss findings. **If you get skin testing here ask them to be mindful of how they wipe off the test area before measuring so you get an accurate reading.**

This clinic is only open two days a week, and the options for patients are getting scarcer. The staff has a difficult time connecting the patients with the doctor, and he is often unreachable, which for any medical provider is unacceptable. There is a revolving door of turnover in staff and very little consistency for the patients. The ability for patients to communicate with reception is hampered by the klunky and non-intuitive online Klara interface, instead of allowing patents to simply call in and speak to someone in reception. Billing is confusing and only adds to the burden for administrative staff, having to answer questions that a better system would avoid. The various branches of this business are also slowly going extinct. The portent for people who use this clinic seems grim.
