I couldn't believe how much was accomplished on the first call alone. I had many questions, and all were answered with definitive information. And, with each subsequent call and visit, the arrangements for my loved one became clearer and clearer. All of the staff were exceptionally professional and sympathetic to my family and those who mourned with me. The care they showed for my loved one was loving and compassionate, and my family couldn't have been happier. It is reassuring to know that in your darkest moments of despair and sadness, there are people like; Travis, Joe, Gina, Sara, and Laura who will look you in the eye and say "It's going to be ok" and then deliver on that promise. God bless this "home" and all who pass through it. John and Christine P.

Charles G Schmitt Funeral located in Seaford is truly God sent . This is a family owned business…read moreand the Funeral Director Curt Schmitt truly went above and beyond to assist in a unusual family circumstance. Our family can never thank him for the peace he has given us. My brother Glenn recently passed away in Texas. He he did not have a wife or family who could take care of his burial in Texas. I contacted Schmitt's funeral and spoke to Curt and he recommended a funeral director in El Paso TX who I was able to get my brother from the hospital morgue to a facility where he could be properly cremated and then after some veterans paperwork... We were able to have his remains shipped to New York to the Charles G Schmitt funeral home. Curt was wonderful with his staff making arrangements for my brother who is an army veteran. The thing is I haven't been in contact with my brother for over 40 years so I didn't have a lot of information and what little information I was able to provide they were able to get my brother approved to be laid to rest at the Long Island National veterans cemetery in Farmingdale. The staff at the Long Island National veterans cemetery was amazing, I was thankful for the honor guard as well as the clergy that was provided. There is no words for the value and appreciation one gets from a military service. Whether you choose to have your loved one buried in a traditional grave site or placed in an urn and put in a niche... This location was easy to find and had street and parking lot options to choose from. Personally opted for street as I knew I was running in for only a bit. The lot didn't seem that big, and in my mind save it for the family that is there the entire time. Location like many others was clean and conformable upon entry. Even the restroom (universal for all) was super clean and kept up well. What I found unique and different at this location which compelled me to post a review, was that eventhough not a mega sized locations with multiple rooms (in use at same time, usually), this one seemed very personal able, and have a second floor (basement level), which was a playroom type of space for kids. That's right...no fear parents of dreading to bring your little ones with you to say your goodbyes, as they can be brought in to see family and then escorted downstairs to ride out the time you want to stay and be with family safety. I thought this to be pretty different and unique. Who knows maybe other locations have something similar and I never noticed, but this time totally jumped out at me as being totally note worth.

After reading the reviews and finding out that this location is family owned and operated I decided to go and speak with them. From the moment I walked in the door I felt the compassion and sincerity by all of the staff. Caitlin, the funeral Director was simply amazing, she explained the entire process and true to her word she really helped out. At no point in time was there any effort to upsell, or force us into purchasing things that we didn't need. The wake in the funeral were as beautiful as can be thanks to Chapey. It's all about the little things, just prior to the procession, they offered everybody a bagel and bottle of water, how incredibly thoughtful. I spent about 20 minutes speaking with one of the staff who drove the Hearst, everything about this funeral home and its staff made me feel so comfortable. There is not one negative thing I could say, I am so incredibly grateful and think Caitlin profusely.

To…read moresay a funeral was beautiful seems a little morbid and inappropriate. but, that's exactly how I can describe my father's wake at Jacobson funeral home in Huntington. They went above and beyond in every little detail From the minute we walked in and met with them. They were comforting, professional, and absolutely amazing. even the little small touch with them standing at the door as we exited for the funeral progression to the cemetery- they offered a plaque for each car that said funeral and travel tissue packages. I've never seen that done before at a funeral. they truly care about the deceased and the family! Chris and his team could not have been more thoughtful, caring or sensitively attuned to what was…read moreneeded during the entire process of my mother-in-law's passing and funeral. Chris is likely to have attended to thousands of funerals, but there was no sense that this was 'same-old, same-old' with him. He was so in tune with where the family was emotionally, and was able to adjust accordingly. He was such a calming, helpful presence throughout. He has the wisdom of knowing that people's faculties are compromised at a time like this and guided us gently through each part of the process at just the right time, never invasive, checking in on what might be needed and offering just the right amount of guidance and preparation. Likewise, every inch of the funeral home and their chapels have been designed to make you feel the warmth, serenity and dignity you would wish for at such a time: The decor is elegant but homey; the background music is peaceful and settling; the fish pond and fountain in the reception area adds a natural, calming element, and of course, there's Jake. Jake (Chris's shadow) is a young, highly trained labradoodle who is the resident support dog, gently walking around, offering himself to anyone he senses may need him. He is a special soul and he loves his work. I don't think the process could have gone more smoothly. The chapel was beautifully set up and my mother-in-law looked so naturally elegant and peaceful at her wake in the chapel. They did an incredible job. They created a beautiful digital slideshow from all our photos and set up our photo boards and flowers magnificently. After the service, they packed up everything from the chapel and stored it for us carefully until we could collect it at our convenience. Nothing seemed too much for them as long as they could help make this process as easy and meaningful as possible for us. One final aspect worth mentioning: The funeral home allowed us to arrange a lot upfront, before my mother-in-law passed, which similar business services do not always allow. Once someone has passed, emotions are so high that it's really hard to concentrate on small details, which is required to plan accordingly. Being able to plan this all upfront was incredibly helpful.
