James Dean. The place were strange- but memorable- nights happen for the young, and old, stranded in the lovely metropolitan of Eisenstand and the surrounding area.
I first was introduced to James by a pack of wild Spanish Erasmus students only two weeks after arriving in Austria to teach English. A night of drinking, dancing, and merrymaking was to follow, where I met several young locals and had a shot of tequila or five with them. To my total shock as an American fresh off the Plane, those locals turned out to be my future students and I swore to never go back to James again.
I over came my fear and came to appreciate James for what it is; a magical place where age, language, clothing style and the like don't matter, everyone is there just to dance, drink, make slightly awkward passes at eachother and have fun.
After that sad post-fire period James rose from the ashes like the Phoenix and now rocks a more modern look. All glass and mirrors, giving it the illusion of being much bigger than it is and also allowing everyone to check themselves out alllll night long.
So hats off to James Dean, go enjoy yourself and create some...interesting...memories!!!
*and not to be forgotten. You can get your post dance-athon snack at the stand outside. Tho, the man running it doesn't like it if you throw a fit and demand fries at 5am after he's turned the fryer off... read more
