My residence in El Granada was in need of exterior paint. The home is clad with cedar/plywood and it had not been painted since 2005. The siding was cracked and dried out and was in poor condition. I contracted with J. A. Pugliese Painting after a bidding process with several local companies early this year. I selected Pugliese because of their attention to detail, confidence that the poor condition of the siding could be mitigated and very competitive pricing. Lisa Pugliese and the entire team were very easy to work with. The painting and repairs needed were performed with courtesy, care and practically flawless results despite the condition issues. read more

Lisa, James and crew did a phenomenal job repainting our house recently! Their attention to detail was unmatched and they communicated with us through each step of the job. Their crew addressed and repaired not only the paint, but the existing wood rot on both our house and decking. They were flexible with changes to the project, helpful recommending complementary colors, and worked quickly with great care for other parts of both our and our neighbor's property. We were very impressed with the extensive prep that went into the job. They truly went above and beyond to make our home look new again. We couldn't be happier with the end result and truly appreciate them for both their skills and kindness. We are lucky to have such a gem of a family business in Pacifica. read more

I needed a complete refinish of my 40' long 600+sf multilevel backyard deck. It was already peeling only 3 years after sanding to bare wood and coating with Valspar's "best" semi solid stain. After contacting a couple of deck specialists who gave shockingly high quotes, I remembered James's team had painted my house in 2012 and did a great job. I called them and got an estimate thousands below the others. The level of prep was even better than I remembered. After a powerwash and power sanding, all the adjacent walls and stonework were masked off with plastic. The application and cleanup were all beyond expectations. They even replaced a few more boards showing signs of dry rot and touched up some bare stucco next to the deck. They paid great attention to hand staining the railing and balusters. It looks like a brand new deck. We are supremely happy with the result. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Pugliese to anyone. Will definitely hire again. Thanks James and Lisa! read more

Lisa, James and his team provided the most amazing service. From the collaborative discussions on the color of paint to the painstaking detail James and his team did to prep the house for the painting, they did an EXCEPTIONAL job. James and his team addressed and repaired not only the paint, but the existing wood conditions on both our house and decking, were considerate of our outdoor furniture and even covered our vehicles parked on the street to protect them. We love our new house and deeply appreciate James, Lisa and his team for their skills and kindness. I will be recommending James and his team to anyone who is considering painting their house. James and his team just painted our house and we love it. They did a great job! They are professional, meticulous, efficient, knowledgeable about our coastal climate, talented and their price is very fair. Lisa is also great. The communication about our project was top notch throughout the entire process. We will be calling them for future painting projects and highly recommend them for exterior painting. We've had two homes painted by James Pugilese Painting. A rental in Pacifica and our residence in Redwood City. James said they even go as far as San Jose. They do a fantastic job at a good price. We were really impressed by their attention to detail when prepping the house. I like that they checked in with us when they came across things that needed repair, like dry rot or broken stucco, and had the expertise to do the repairs. At a reasonable hourly rate too. Communication was easy. They work clean, fast and are very thorough. It was a pleasure working with James, Lisa and their crew. read more

It pains me to write this review. While James and his crew did have some good qualities, overall there were some giant flaws. Lisa was incredibly responsive at first when they painted our home last year. In fact, the crew were fast and friendly and the house looked great initially. However, a few weeks later, paint in 3 rooms started cracking and bubbling off. I've been trying to get them to come back for ONE YEAR to fix these areas to NO AVAIL. As a small business who takes pride in their work and reputation, I would hope they would want to rectify this. I have called, emailed and texted dozens of times and am so discouraged that they can be so dismissive with paying customers. read more

They had done a great job for us years ago and when we had Lisa come out to redo the job for freshening up the house, we got the price. We were a bit stunned at how much more they wanted for less work - this time we didn't want interior work, but we tighten our belts and came up with the money. When ready we called & emailed at least 10 times and Lisa answered us once. When we tried to get an actual date to start.... They never returned any calls or emails. What "ducks" and I meant with an I not a u! So go elsewhere where they won't take ur time and bull$#!£ you around, read more

I was referred to James and Lisa through my real estate agent. From the start, Lisa was so pleasant to work with, communicative and transparent. She gave me multiple quotes so I could made a informed decision on how much I wanted to spend. They power washed our decks making them look amazing, which meant we could save money on having them refinished. They did a phenomenal job painting the interior and exterior of the house, as well as our kitchen cabinets. The garage is unrecognizable compared to how it started. They also allow you to pay online which is so convenient. Lisa and James were absolute professionals. They were my favorite contractors to work with when we were remodeling our property. read more

Fantastic job in record time once the initial speed bump of communication was sorted out.

I recently had my 2 story home painted as well as many siding boards replaced. Lisa, James, and the crew did an amazing job on my home. These individuals possessed the utmost professionalism and prompt communications with any contractor I have dealt with. Lisa was superb with assisting with color choices and details to my home. Additionally, she made the process smooth and painless. James was here on site himself and ensured all my needs were met in a very professional manner. The crew, where do I start.. Very skilled at what they do and it shows in their craftsmanship and attention to detail. I created this Yelp account specifically to give this company a well deserved shout out. James A Pugliese Painting - James And Lisa did a great job! - Painters Near Me - Pacifica, California

My initial call was answered immediately by a very nice woman named Lisa. She promptly handled all the necessary details to get the job started. A couple weeks later, James and his crew arrived. They had with them the exact paint colors that Lisa was able to obtain from a photo that I sent her. The preparation work took most of their time. They not only showed respect for our property but also our neighbors, and they cleaned up after themselves daily. James kept us in the loop and was a perfectionist. No detail was overlooked. We have had nothing but compliment on the house, and we can only take credit for having the good sense to hire James and his entire staff. read more

I'm writing this review solely because the company failed to return three phone calls requesting a bid to paint the exterior of our house. Each time I requested a return phone call even if they are unwillingly or unable to provide an estimate. My assumption is that, if they are out of town or have some sort of family emergency, there would at least be a message of this on their recorded phone answer. There was nothing of the sort. This indifference seems inconsistent with the generally positive reviews of the work they provide. read more

We worked with James, Lisa, and their crew for an exterior paint job for our home to live in, not for resale. Working with them was a wonderful experience for the following reasons: there were hiccups in the beginning (as it does with almost any job frankly) but everything got resolved ASAP, communication on expectations and timeline was clear, they noticed additional issues - some not even for their main work - just to give us a heads up. Now for the really special part: James and Lisa felt like neighbors coming to help us, I looked forward to talking with them, hearing about Pacifica history, how their day went, and their opinions on color matching. It really felt like they cared about whether the house looked good and we were happy with it. I really appreciated the personal collaboration and connection, and much preferred this over a detached, transactional exchange. It was unexpected but very nice to know there are still businesses like this, people like them, and I hope they are still around when we need to repaint again! read more
