The annual search for that perfect Mother's Day gift led us to Queen Amina's shop. As we entered,…read morewe found the queen holding court alongside her king. "Sister Amina!" I called out. She welcomed us inside. As we looked around, we knew our quest was over. Sister Amina quickly understood our mission. She asked how old our special mother was and then suggested a perfect gift. We made a cashless exchange that felt like we were getting away with something special. The quality of the items far exceeded their price. Sister Amina has been a beloved merchant in Leimert Park for almost 20 years and is one of the last two vendors still serving the Leimert Park Village. When I asked her how she would describe her shop, she told me it was an experience. Her store features designs that merge elements of the African Diaspora, bringing together influences from West and East Africa, as well as America. So, on your next quest for a gift for your Queen or King, be sure to stop by Queen Amina's. And don't forget to tell her that Brother Omar sent you!

We asked her questions while she was sitting down. Fast forward to September 1st. She text my daughter asking for her money for the drum. My daughter was very confused. My daughter said , what are you talking about? She said, you never paid me that's why I don't like giving credit to people. My daughter was like huh! we paid you and you gave us a receipt and why are you calling me a month that later. She said, I been sick and my credit machine wasn't working well. Huh again. My daughter text me since she now lives in Nola. I said give her my number. The owner of the business called immediately. She lied about what she said to .just daughter. I said I will come by your business Thursday so we can resolve the matter. Mind you this is over $43.06 a month later. That's not the customers fault if your machine wasn't working properly. Small business. Smh. I tried to support a small business
