Not sure how this place is a still in business with 5 other Thai restaurants within a 1 mile radius that are 100X better. Ambiance is nice. Portions are good. Food needs great improvement. Pad Thai is 2 out of 5 stars with 1 star being the kind that tastes like ketchup. It's sweet like I took a spoonful of pancake syrup in every bite. Asked for 2 stars but they did not add any spice at all. The "spicy" chicken wings are just lightly battered fried wings that come with sweet chili sauce. No spice in batter which could use some seasoning as a saving grace from the poor advertising of it. Sweet chili sauce on the side cannot be the reason you name your chicken spicy. Even the most spice intolerant people don't think sweet chili sauce is spicy. Calamari was standard. It was the big O onion ring looking calamari that I usually like but nothing stood out. Just battered and came with sweet chili sauce. Maybe they specialize in other things I mean come on man, are you really going to rate a Thai spot off their fried chicken and calamari? Yes....yes, I am because I know Kwanjai, Kaosamai, Kin Len and SabbVerr all slay over this place and they're all walking distance from it. I know they all have their niche but not sure what Jai's is. I found a metal staple in my food and bit into it. I took my food home and reheated the leftovers the next day. As I was eating, I bit into something hard. I thought it was an uncooked noodle, but when I took it out of my mouth, I discovered it was a rusty staple (shown in the picture below ). TLDR: fun atmosphere, great price for the portions, and kind staff! I've been here twice and gotten takeout once, and I've always left satisfied. The staff here are always so friendly and I've enjoyed their suggestions for popular dishes to get! I usually start off with a soup or salad. The Tom Kha here is incredibly fragrant and floral, and they don't skimp on the lemongrass. It's wonderful! They also pack the soup full of veggies and if you get the tofu you won't be disappointed. Lots of big chunks of tofu, not the skimpy stuff that you get at some places. It's a wonderful soup. The spring rolls are also excellent. Again, they put so many delicious fillings in them--they're so satisfying! Their peanut sauce is well spiced and sweet, an excellent companion. Don't miss the papaya salad either. Light, crunchy, and covered in a lovely sweet/sour sauce, this could be a whole meal of its own. It's not papaya in the traditional sweet fruit version some people think of--this is even better. I generally get the Pad See Lew and really love it. Covered in toppings and the noodles are so delightfully thick and chewy. The sauce makes them amazing for slurping right up and I love the ample amount of egg you'll get in this dish. If you're looking for somewhere romantic, take your date here and get one of the little sitting tables by the windows. Unfortunately, the whole time while I was eating the chicken, my taste buds couldn't help but crave the crispy garlic chicken from Bai Tong instead. Jai Thai has good crispy garlic chicken, but for me it doesn't compare to Bai Tong's crispy garlic chicken. I hate to be subjective on my review but I guess if you are like me, you may have the same feeling. The chicken and spinach were definitely swimming in a plate of cloyingly sweet peanut sauce, even with the rice that cost extra. I ended up taking the rest home, and gave it some TLC. My friend got the drunken noodle, which I had a taste of, and was pretty good - a smattering of veggies, some meat, and noodles were okay, just slightly stuck together in clumps. And there is no "medium spice" - it is now and has always been rated 1-4 stars, which makes me think some of these reviews are snarky for the sake of being snarky. The Pad Thai, Yellow Curry and Tam Kha Gai are amaze-balls. If you're looking for heat that drowns out flavor, this is NOT the place for you. Jai Thai is currently my order out JAM right now. I have a lot of dietary restrictions, so often struggle finding a place I can eat--but I have discovered that most Thai Cashew Chicken fits my dietary needs--and I've had Jai Thai's twice recently and it was SO FRIGGIN GOOD and also I didn't get sick due to "hidden ingredients" (like refined sugar). I order mine one star (because I am a pansy), and without rice (because I can't eat rice)... and both times I've ordered for delivery (once DoorDash, once UberEats), my order has been correct. (Ok, the time I ordered via DoorDash it was definitely not one star, but I survived and my sinuses were cleared.) I will definitely continue to order here. Excellent as always! I've been coming here for the past 5 years and it has always been great! Good flavors, spice was a bit weak (3 stars is more like 1 to me), and really good service! This is my first time being there since the bar remodel but I was not disappointed! Prices are good as always (SPU student discount 15% off w/ ID). Most dishes average about $11-12 range. In a pinch passing through the area this place fit the bill. Tried and true, Thai has options for everyone, and I can always count on a vegan option. I got a curry dish and it was okay. The tofu is soft, not fried, so nothing exciting there. The spice on the dish was really good, that was my favorite part. Our takeout was ready fairly quick on a Friday night and staff were nice. It's all about the peanut sauce. I've been to dozens of Thai places in Los Angeles but they don't hold a candle to the restaurants in Seattle where there are Thai eateries on as many corners as there are Starbucks. This restaurant is probably my favorite for Thai. I ordered my favorite dish - swimming rama - which is spinach drenched in peanut sauce with a meat of your choice (or tofu). I got chicken. Their peanut sauce is to die for. I shared dishes with some friends and can say their phad thai and green curry are fantastic too. And you can't go wrong with a thai iced tea. Giving this place 3 stars due to their service. We were seated quickly but then felt rushed to order. When our orders arrived they didn't arrive all at once which made it awkward for our group who was newly getting to know each other. We were stuck in the awkward do I eat without your food arriving yet while mine gets cold stage. Once the food arrived, I realized they got my soup order wrong but due to the sake of time and how long it took to get the orders I ate what they gave me. When we asked for the check toward the end they said they would bring it by and they never did. When I asked at the register if they were coming by they said "you come to register to pay". We kept getting mixed messages even when we asked for boxes, they never showed up either. I probably wouldn't go back again due to the service. It's one thing to be busy during rush hour but another to give blatant attitude toward customers and leave them hanging when one thing was promised versus what they actually did. Food: The food was actually decent. Not the best Thai I've ever had, but also not the worst. Mediocre at best! If you're looking for a quick fix stop by this place only if you have the time to wait. Jai Thai! Sounds like the name of a dance. We had a HUGE party of 14 people for a friend's birthday. We strolled in randomly at around 9 PM. It was one of those "go wherever the wind takes us" kind of situations. They were able to magically seat the entire party in mere minutes, seating 6 at one long table and 8 at another long table. I initially wanted the crispy garlic chicken, but then I was drawn to the "adventurous" section of the menu. The adventurous section makes a point that the dishes are traditional Thai dishes and that they don't hold anything back. The dishes will be both spicy and PUNGENT. That word, in this particular situation, tickled my fancy more than I thought a word like that ever could. I ordered the Kaplau Gai Kai Dao, which is a classic Thai comfort rich dish that has minced chicken breast stir fried in sweet basil sauce, over rice topped with fried egg. When we were ordering, I asked the server how to pronounce the dish, and it sounded super cool. Bonus points for that! I also only ordered 2 stars, because I wasn't about to mess with a traditional Thai dish. Well, turns out 2 stars was 2 too many. I cried the ENTIRE TIME I was eating. The temperature was perfect, but man they weren't kidding around with the spice! Tears streamed down my face, but I couldn't stop. I took bite after bite, and my girlfriend had to interrupt me to wipe my face off with a napkin. When I punctured the fried egg, the yolk leaked out in all its yellow glory. It was a nice reprieve from the fiery minced chicken. I somehow managed to finish the rest of the dish, but I was ridiculously full afterwards. But I was very satisfied. It has been so long since I have last cried, and I had a lot of emotions pent up inside of me. One of the most surefire ways to open the floodgates is through Thai style fire, as exemplified by this 2 star spiciness Kaplau Gai Kai Dao. The service was also pretty good! They got everybody their water and drinks fast, and got all our orders in fast. They were also pretty pre-emptive about anticipating our needs. When we ordered an appetizer, they brought out extra plates and utensils. They also brought me a spoon with my dish, since it was a big fat rice plate, and they were also pretty good about refilling water. I don't recall having to ask the servers for anything, because they were able to bring everything right when we would have asked for them. I honestly wanted to give this place a 5 stars, but there were at least a couple dishes that were off in one way or the other. Someone else ended up ordering the crispy garlic chicken, and said that it was neither crispy or garlicy. They said it was kind of soggy and the flavor wasn't so good. Another party member ordered a noodle soup, and while she said that the broth was one of the best she's ever had (she finished drinking the entire bowl of broth too!), the pork was overcooked and tough. I tried a piece of the pork and it was kind of like eating beef jerky dipped in soup. So in summary: 5 stars for the tears, -1 stars for the rest of the hit and miss dishes. read more

I've gone to Jai Thai for probably about 15ish years and it still stands true to being one of my favorite Thai places. I'm actually surprised to see some of the other reviews because I've always held this one high. Everything I've ever tried here I've enjoyed, but hands down my favorite is the Phad Thai with fried tofu. The Phad Thai has so much flavor and it's so much better than all of my local Thai restaurants. Love their curries as well. This last time my husband got the Ba Mee and that was also very delicious! It was rainy and cold when we arrived in Seattle and I was craving something warm and mellow like soup. I love Thai food and we found this place which is located in a cute neighborhood. I liked the ambience of the restaurant and they were open until 11 pm which was great. I ordered the Tom Yum noodle soup with veggies and it was phenomenal. It really hit the spot, the flavors were all well balanced and you could taste the veggies. My husband ordered Penang curry with sticky rice and it was good too!
