The park website and things online are very confusing. One site says, permit not required and another say one isn't. The sign at the park also says permit required, but there is no where to purchase one in person or online. We took the chance and parked without one. I did see a worker driving around and he didn't seem to be checking cars. The map seems okay for general navigating and there is signage around. The trails are marked okay I think. There could be some improvement, but the Cascade Trail is a big loop so it isn't a huge deal. The trail was well maintained. A little overgrown in places, but nothing terrible. It's also really flat except for the end of the trail where you need to walk up a big hill to get back to where we parked. My kids did fine with the trial the whole time though. The bridge is super neat and my kids had fun crossing it. The falls were pretty and a nice treat, but you really have to wander around to find a good view of it. Luckily none of us minded that. The creek is really nice to play and walk in. That was by far my kids favorite part. We also found lots of fossils to explore and look at! It was a little muddy after all the rain we had received, but nothing terrible.

My favorite 'hiking' spot in Butler County…read more My favorite part about this preserve are the trails. There are multiple trails that connect to each other, so if you get bored with hiking your usual trail, it's easy to mix it up a little bit. They are all well kept and maintained. Sometimes there is some litter, but we pick it up. There are two old building foundations on one of the trails and a piece of farm equipment grown into a tree, pretty neat! The park is big, lots of space.

There are also some awesome balance equipment to try! Something else to note: This park is not well shaded in the evenings. I brought a 3 year old to the park and while she had a lot of fun, it was quite challenging for her to climb on much of the equipment. There are also only two small slides which weren't easily accessible for her. They have a few toddler swings and a handicap accessible swing that she had fun trying!

In the "big kid" playground the climbing is taller and definitely more advanced. The 3 year old had trouble reaching some things, but nonetheless tried! There are two awesome and obscure shaped monkey bars, many spinning seats, and large slides! They also have a great area with various giant musical instruments to play. On the far side of the playground there is a splash pad. It was still on and running today! This park is wide open and had so much space for the kids to run and play. There are many picnic tables with shade and a large shelter too! We LOVED this park!!

I'm an adult and I wanted to play! Kids of all ages, outside, playing, laughing! There is a nice covered picnic area with water fountains (including a tall one to fill up a bottle), and a paved, covered path to the restrooms. There is a Men's, women's, and family restroom. There is a lot of shaded areas for parents to sit and relax while the littles wear themselves out.

It's only a par 3 but it is beautiful and very well maintained 6.) plenty of shelters for picnics and for a small fee you can reserve them. The poor experience began at the admission gate with a most rude man who refused to answer questions about the status of the games. After waiting an hour from lightning delays I decided to return to my car to wait the delay out. When I asked for the re-entry band they accused me of sneaking in. They yelled and carried on as they insisted I wasn't being forthright. I am still upset!​​

I remember coming to these amusement parks and being allowed to spend the whole day with friends. This was pre being able to afford kings island. It was like a permanent carnival. I was so sad that it shut down but was so surprised when I saw that they repurposed the land into this beautiful park. Walk around and remember where things used to be. You can check out the lake, see some of the old standing structures of times past, walk the path, or play in the playground. We enjoyed pulling up old photos and trying to lay out the amusement park in all the green space.

I definitely recommend wearing good hiking shoes or boots to have a better grip on the ground. . The park itself is just beautiful. Lots of woodlands that let you recharge your soul. Benches along the trail invite for a break or to soak in the beautiful scenery.

Ok had been back to these trails in years and decided to do 2 trails the red and the blue both were…read morearound a mile each. It had been dry so didn't have to worry about mud and it had been cool lately so was hoping the bugs weren't a problem. So doused myself in bug repellent and headed out on my own to get some steps in. love walking in nature. I took pics of the trail map and color of the trail i was doing so I didn't get lost ... at least that was my goal. I did the red and then the blue. both trails were harder than I was looking for. The hills were steep and slippery .. plus rock and roots to stumble on. a few areas were so steep I had to find branches to make myself a walking stick. but the blue trail was a hot mess. so over grown and trees down. At one point it just ended .. the trail led to a lot of brush I ended up walking in the woods in areas that didn't look like a trail. alot was so over grown and they obviously aren't clearing this area and no one is going on the blue trail. Then I get to the parking lot and see the same colors I'd been on in the area near the overlook ... which I'd never been to. So is that different trails with the same colors .... I'm not sure. I followed the signs for blue and red and neither took me to this. I def wont return alone. there were several times I slipped and stumbled and it was scary especially alone. I made it out without falling and lived to hike again somewhere else another day. There was a guy in his truck when I started and the same guy was sitting there when I went to my car .. found that creepy and weird. It was 80 plus degrees why just sit there alone ... odd. park staff should clear the blue trail ... it's a hazard

Well paved paths that seemed to be set up so folks with wheel chair bound or walking assists but just be forewarned there is a rather steepish hill toward the back. Nice air conditioned bathroom just outside kid playground. Lots of parking. Very clean and well maintained. Be an absolute perfect place for a walk during the Fall when the leaves are changing colors.

It's also fenced in, which I know people with young and multiple kids would appreciate. There is a big lake right by it too so the playground being fenced in is a great safety measure. On really hot days the playground does get really hot though. The lake is a really nice and has a path around it. It's not huge, but still a nice place for some leisure activity. You can fish at the pond though. Lots of parking too. We will definitely be back to visit this park again.

It looked like the weather was going to be fantastic both days but figured would be less crowded Friday vs. Saturday. we lucked into great seats and we're glad to have brought lawn chairs. Cons prices have went up 20-40 dollars. They had gates locked while leaving, so yo had to walk all the way to the entrance then walk to your car. People were climbing the fence or bending it yo get underneath. The shape balloons were all together should have been spread out a bit and 2 of the three were faced the wrong way, so that was unfortunate. The balloon shoe was very good and the fireworks and drone show were unexpected and fantastic. Cool sky divers with flags or pyrotechnics. There were food trucks but we didn't check them out.
