I took my dog for teeth cleaning at a cost of over $700 to Jacksonville Veterinary hospital in Baltimore,MD. I specifically pointed out the two teeth that were concerning, and when I picked the dog up, they hadn't been addressed at all now my dog development has the whole gum but before the inflamed and the teeth look worse than when we brought her in. When I complained, they said were only a clinic, you need to take her to a dentist, well they certainly could've said that before demanding $700! When I spoke with the doctor afterwards, he had no idea of even the procedure that she had done. Apparently only a technician did a quick clean. I won't be going back. read more

We've always had very positive experiences with the staff, making appts, refilling scripts, and getting call backs for questions. Let's talk veterinarians please. We have had now two horrible experiences with Jacksonville vet. I would not recommend going there. Staff lied numerous times about various things, we were charge for services not rendered, they drew blood on one of our dogs that was not even there for a blood draw and then charged us for it. I called to discuss overcharges and the "office manager" hung up on me. Poor public service skills. If anyone wants further info please pm me. However I would like recommendations on a vet in the area with professional staff. Do not use Jacksonville! read more

I called to get an estimate a month or two back on rabbit neutering and they said it'd be about 120$ but the surgeon was not going to be in for a while bc covid so I just called last week and had them tell me they would email me an estimate, I never got one so I called back and was told they can't give estimates unless I come in for a 53$ consultation and when I told them I didn't think it was fair to have to drive in and pay for a consultation just for them to give some crazy price and I was already promised an estimate she said that was rude and hung up then when I called back another woman answered and again said they'd email an estimate. Again never got it and today on my final call I was told they won't even have the surgeon back for months. They are just rude and seem very unorganized and difficult to have to deal with. read more

This veterinary practice was recommended to me before I even moved to Baltimore. From where I live, the ride to Jacksonville is lovely. The care that my dogs have received here has been nothing but the best. The doctors don't rush through your visit, and really take the time to explain what they're checking and why. After 3 pets and 8 years of being patients with Jacksonville Vet, I can give 4.5 stars. It's nice knowing the person on the other end of the line when I call. The vet techs are all pleasant and happy. Dr. Thai is a favorite! During my time with them caring for our pets, there was only one incident when I called and spoke with a new person. This person was not the friendliest nor accommodating in our emergency need with one of our dogs. They were closing soon and could not accept any more patients. I was directed to an emergency center. I can understand to a certain degree, but when we pay top shelf for service, as a loyal and long-term client, I expect a tad bit of extra service that perhaps isn't extended for someone who doesn't spend money. One incident in 8 years isn't a huge deal, but it was recent and unfortunately, it has stuck with me. Nonetheless, they are within 10 minutes of our house, the hours are convenient and they have been able to handle our needs. We recently adopted two kittens and it was time for them to get their scheduled vaccines. Everything seemed fine. When we came home both of our kittens were extremely lethargic, which is not unusual after a doctors visit and vaccines. One of our kittens was limping around for almost 4 days unable to put any weight on his hind leg and was also acting incredibly skittish and weird. When we called the vets office, not to complain, just to notify them so they could put a note in his chart, the receptionist told us that our cat was a "wimp". I totally get that she was trying to make light of the situation but it just seemed like our concerns were falling on deaf ears. She gave us an anecdote about how her cat is always limping around after a vaccine blah blah blah. I have had cats for over 30 years and I know the vaccines sometimes bother them but this just seemed a little excessive. Not the vet's fault, exactly, but we just wanted to let them know and so something could be notated in his chart. Not a huge issue but we didn't appreciate the insensitive joke while our 3lb kitten is limping around. read more

I recently had my first visit with them. They were amazing. The employee came out and explained all of the vaccines to me and was very sweet. My dog is normally skittish with new people, but he walked in with the employee. They were amazing. The veterinarian called me and asked if I had any questions or concerns and spoke to me for a while. I'm very glad I found this hospital. I can tell they truly love animals. read more

Jacksonville Vet is a wonderful place to bring your furry friends! My husband and I adopted a cat about a year ago, and we were recommended to this place. I have had varying experiences with veterinarians, but Dr. Thai just takes the cake! Not only is she knowledgeable and thorough in her evaluations, she is friendly and realistic about our pet. She looks at our kitty as one of her own and provides practical tips to keep her healthy that are easy for us to implement and always affordable. Dr. Miller is also wonderful, and she took care of us when our cat required some diagnostic testing. Overall, the atmosphere is warm and comfortable, the staff clearly love animals, and the prices are reasonable. I used to think highly of this practice and all of the vets here until it was discovered that my dog had been misdiagnosed for an entire year and incorrectly treated. It was by chance that we were scheduled with a vet at the practice we had never seen before, who immediately gave the correct diagnosis of collapsing trachea. This puts a pet owner in a terrible position when only one of the full-time veterinarians of the group can be trusted. Additionally, the office seems to be in complete disorganization and chaos. Due to new COVID 19 guidelines, the procedure is to call the office and let them know of your arrival. I showed up 15 minutes early, called the office, and sat in the car with the engine running for almost an hour because the office failed to alert the technicians we were there. They grossly miscommunicated the handling of calling in an Rx, scheduled an appointment on the wrong day, and several times vital facts pertinent to our pets' care was not recorded in their antiquated paper charts. Who wants a veterinary practice where there is only one competent vet, the office is a complete disaster, and medical records are sloppy. Adding insult to injury, there was no offer of reimbursement for the visits that our pet was incorrectly treated and diagnosed. We are taking our three dogs elsewhere. We are reasonable people, and understand mistakes happen, but not this many and one so serious as a complete misdiagnosis for an entire year. I would not recommend this practice at all and have been a pet owner for over 35 years. The rudeness and disorganization of the office is a pattern. There is no excuse for vets missing an easy-to-diagnose condition other than incompetence. read more

I would NEVER recommend this vet EVER. I have been a client of theirs for close to 10 years now. I have been shoveling money for them to run tests on my animals to always have no answers in return. Yesterday my cat who is older finally reached the end and they wouldn't even allow me to bring him in to be put down. I can't believe a company whose primary purpose is to care for animals wouldn't even give me 10 minutes of their time to put my cat at ease. They told me to make an appointment for the next day!!! It was at that point I was left to searching the internet for other vets in the area who could help me put my cat out of misery. I brought a perfectly healthy dog to their clinic and they prescribed Rimadyl but no blood test was conducted on the dog to ensure it was safe to administer. The pharmaceutical company strongly recommends that this be performed before the drug is administered but I had little knowledge of this at the time of my visit since I was provided no warning instructions by the clinic. The dog died two weeks later. This veterinary service did not even send a letter. Nothing, yet the dog had been treated at their clinic for two years. I have now asked their office for the past six weeks to transfer my animal's records to a nearby vet and they still have not performed this very simple service. read more

My family has been bringing cats here even before I was born, and I continue to use their services now that I have my own cats. There have been very few instances where I was left frustrated and unhappy. All of the vets here are great. Previously I saw Dr. Brendan Miller, who I absolutely loved, however he suddenly left the practice and it is unclear if he left willingly on his own or was let go. Dr. Miller, who I now primarily see, can be viewed as rough when handling a cat, but it's clear that she knows what she's doing and is manipulating the animal in a professional and harmless manner. read more

We've been visiting Jacksonville Veterinary Hospital for 18+ years...love the convenience of the one-stop shots/check-ups/boarding and all the people who work with our pets have been warm and complimentary to our favorite family members. When it was time to put down our 17 year old beloved pet, the compassion they treated us with made the process much more comfortable. Our newest puppy loves the kennel and visiting the vet too! The people who work in the boarding area love our puppy and enjoy snuggling with him while we are out of town! Its so nice to know the puppy gets TLC from them too! read more

We can't say enough about this facility. Everyone is compassionate and caring and I recommend Jacksonville every chance I get. When we board our 8 year Pug, they have their hands full since she is so spoiled. They also spoil her and really care about her well being. We get texts and pictures when she is boarding and it puts our mind at ease that everyone is so caring. I trust the boarding staff and the doctors to do what is right for our dog and I can't tell you what a relief it is just knowing she is in such good hands.
