He couldn't locate a serious spinal disorder on my MRI (two doctors later did the same month) and he was not familiar with how to non-invasively treat a condition that should be in his wheelhouse. He kept telling me he "couldn't help me." I've never had a doctor give up so quickly on me during an appointment. He kept trying to slowly back out of the room. He also argued with me that epidural steroid injections are safe, despite the fact I was seeing him for a spinal injury caused by an epidural. His advice was to check my vitamin d levels... The front desk check-in was also a clunky experience. There were also no nurses and nobody taking notes about me.

Dr Barish has been my doctor for over 10 years. He originally was filling in for my original…read moreprimary care doctor who was taking care of me for the majority of my life. Initially I was annoyed that I had to go over my medical history with somebody new however, it became one of the best things that ever happened to me. Dr Barish, took a different approach to my care. Rather than just giving me more medications to ease my symptoms, you wanted to dig it out what was causing that. The time I was getting blisters on my hands and wrists, I was also experiencing a lot of information anytime something would come in harsh contact with my skin. If I accidentally bit my lip, it would get swollen up like somebody punched me in the mouth, one time I was carrying a 10 lb carry-on piece of luggage over my shoulder and when I got to my hotel it looked like there was a softball underneath my right shoulder from the massive amount of swelling from the slight irritation. My previous doctors called it contact dermatitis, nobody could really figure out what the problem was. Dr Barish, after reviewing a tremendous amount of blood work and labs, he wanted to look at my microbiome within my gut. I didn't understand the correlation but he must have saw something that nobody else saw because after putting me on an elimination diet, all of my symptoms disappeared and they never came back even after introducing my normal foods back into my diet. I hated doing the elimination diet for the 6 weeks that I was unable to eat the foods that I was used to eating, but his encouragement for me to remain vigilant and discipline through the process helped my gut reset and I have not had any of these symptoms come back in the last seven or eight years. Ever since then I followed Dr Barish, over to Henry Ford, and now on to his own practice. I hope that he is my doctor for the rest of my life because I believe that with his guidance I will live a healthier more vibrant lifestyle than I would under the guidance of others. This guy is really special, he has a true gift, and I believe it's because he genuinely cares.

I came in with my parents seeking a good Internist to replace the many mediocre ones each of us had. Even after seeing the 5 star reviews of this doctor online and after talking to other friends who referred him, I never imagined he would be so good and so meticulous about everything. He spent a good 30+ minutes with us talking about all aspects of my fathers' (the patient) health. Even without any extensive previous medical records to go on, Dr. Grivej was able to help guide and give us a better understanding of my dad's medical problems. He knew a lot of the doctors my dad had been seeing and was very candid with us about the shortcomings of some of the specialists. He ordered a set of tests and let us know what to expect in following visits. After spending almost 2 weeks in the hospital with my Dad, my parents and I have never felt much more at ease and knowledgeable about the path to take than we have today.
