I went in due to a fall. My finger was going backwards when touched the gave me a xray. I was told it wasn't broken and to go to bone and joint if continued hurting or didn't stop going backwards. I explained that doesn't make sense to me. I received nothing for pain or anything. I left and didn't know none and joint had and emergency walk in come to find out I have 2 ligaments that are detached. Now I have to have surgery for repair. I feel like the quality of care is a 3 out of 10. I went due to pain and left hurt with no answers and had to ask after sitting so long to get my paperwork to go home read more

A little over a year ago I went to emergency room struggling to breath and a rash that started from a burn . This was on a Saturday. They could not diagnose an asthma exacerbation OR a case of shingles. I walked back out with nothing but a prescription for some cream. I continued to struggle til Monday when I could see my REAL doctor, the pulmonologist . Then today, my pulmonologist sent me to get a nasal swab ( respiratory viral panel) at this hospital. She said to go in admittance, I did. They sent me to ER , I go to ER and they insist on ADMITTING me. OK. So she get vitals and does the swab then tells me to sit back out in the waiting room. I said what for, I just needed a test done, she said you still have to see a doctor. I wait. We are talking about the hospital....................... She comes and gets me and takes me down to the back hall and sits me on a bed , IN THE HALL. When does a doctor come see you IN THE HALL ??? He told them what I had continued to try to tell them. I didn't need admitted, it was just for a test !!!! So I wait longer for them to un-admit me... and wait. Finally someone comes to tell me the nurse was "working on it". WORKING ON WHAT ??? There was nothing to "work on" except the extra work they caused themselves. This has become a totally incompetent hospital. Oh, you thought that I was done...nope. after I finally walked out, they call me and I answer. She said I needed to come back in TO ADMITTANCE so I wouldn't get charged emergency room visit. I'm sick, struggling to breath with every step , mind you. I go back in ADMITTANCE without my paper orders anymore cause the nurse kept it , so I give my name and the long story. She has to get on the phone to find out what's going on and the AGAIN tells me I need to go....nowhere, I'm done with that run around game , where I'm taking my sick self is HOME !!!!​​ read more

Ended up going to this er,from dover,soneone told its better than any hospital from clarksville to paris tn. The stsff from the time i entered the er ,from ultrasound,to blood work. I went to their ER because I was having feelings like I was going to pass out. My BP bottoms out sometimes and I was driving in my car. I didn't want to pass out and have a wreck. I get to the ER and there is literally no one in the waiting room. I was triaged, had an EKG and lab work done. I got all my lab results back and still had not been put in a room. The lab tech even commented that he hoped I get seen soon as they weren't busy in the back. I watched as at least ten more patients came in and were sent to the back. I waited 2 1/2 hours feeling like I would pass out and finally had enough and asked them to take me out of the system. I would just take all my lab results to my doctor the next day. It's ridiculous that you have to wait that long. read more

Do not go here for labor and delivery. They forgot to test the sample of urine I gave them at admission, then I got the epidural and had to get a booster which of course had fentanyl in it. They then took a sample of my urine after I gave birth and tested it. The next day the doctor came into my room and proceeded to tell me that I failed a drug test for fentanyl at ADMISSION and that they have contacted DCS!! So DCS came to hospital and drug tested me and I passed instantly. It took 3 days for them to realize they didn't test the sample I gave them when I first got admitted and that they only tested it after I gave birth and have had the epidural. I was almost not allowed to live at my house or be with my baby alone... and not once did any doctor come in and apologize. They sent social workers to come and tell us it was a mess up on their part. Oh and I still have an open DCS case for their mess up. I'm a first time mom and this ruined the whole experience for me. Do not use this hospital. Our family is in consultation with our attorney for how the hospital treated my father. They told him to not eat the night before surgery (normal), and told him to check in at 10:00 am. He did. They don't roll him back until 5pm! And as of 9pm, no word. We know he has now gone about 24 hours without food and NO communication with administration or staff about his status. I was admitted to this hospital with pelvic ring fractures, non-surgical. This was supposed to be a 2-4 day hospitalization but I was in the hospital for 18 days bMy doctor's orders were to transfer me to a rehab facility in 2-4 days. The hospital did nothing to facilitate these orders. The hospital Social Services Dept. would not communicate with me at all. The Social Services Dept had orders from higher| not do anything to get me to rehab simply because their interest was to run up the biggest bill they could, thinking they would not bill my insurance (and incur the Medicare write-off) and instead filed a lien against any settlement I might get from the restaurant where I fell. The hospital was ONLY interested in a big payout and NOT interest in my recovery or well-being. Then 5 hospital employees bombarded my room telling me I had to be discharged - no planning whatsoever. The most disrespectful hospital I've seen. Their staff(some not all) will play god, meaning if you don't kiss their feet(ie beg for help) they will not help you. My wife ask for wipes to clean her self, and they refused. Asked for Medication for nausea and headache and was ignored. I had to call a family friend to come to my wife's aid being I was on the wrong side on the continent. Thank god she did being her oxygen had dropped below 80 and the nurse couldn't bother her self to help. Oh I forgot to mention she was admitted...this isn't a bad day in the emergency room this was there every day nurses....and my wife works for the same hospital. To top it off the nurse supervisor best advice was to be transferred...their supervisor recommended a transfer while my wife was on oxygen...this place might have been a good place but they have no regards for any one including their own employees. read more

I came in the ER with chest pains at 7:00pm and it is 12:30 am and I am still waiting to be seen...I watched the phone video thru the check-in app about the importance if getting immediate help as a current heart patient...what a joke...it seemed as if once I questioned why it was taking so long the personal behind the desk told me and I quote " There are people that are sicker than you " how unprofessional and disrespectful to say this to a heart patient in pain. I have never felt so disrespected in my life...it's like they retaliated against me and refused to render me medical care because I questioned them about why I was being looked over..I am still in pain..and they are walking past me and ignoring as if I am invisible...this is so sad for this to supposedly be such a prestigious hospital. Your ER staff on January 22 into January 23 are so disrespectful. Not all of them..just the black girl checking in and the PCT's...I could go on and on but I'm in too much pain....this poor level of care is really sad.​ read more

Don't have surgery here if you are expecting to have ur pain managed. Tordol and Tylenol is what u will get. They don't care if you suffer cause all that matters is that you don't get addicted to opioids. It's ridiculous. Not everyone who takes opioids gets addicted! I asked for something else for pain over an hr ago and nothing! Trying not to cry because that only makes the pain worse. Seriously wishing I had went to Vanderbilt. I ended up in the ER due to some severe RUQ abdominal pain. They checked me for Cobid on entering and I sat in the waiting room for maybe 5 minutes and was taken right back. Once in the room, god all connected to their stuff and within no time was receiving pain meds and a cat scan for my ailment, large kidney stone. My urologist was on his way out of town, but once they realized I needed surgery he came right in. I went in around 10am and by 5pm was on my way home after surgery and a stint...everyone was pleasant and courteous and seemed to care about my situation and easing my ailment. The nurses were phenomenal, blood work was easy and almost completely pain free! They explained everything to me and my wife and hand wrote votes to help us after we got home. I've always been worried about going and wasting their time and efforts, with something not serious, but so glad I went and they took great care of me! Would say I'm looking forward to my next time, but if and I have to go back, I won't give it a second thought! read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. I have a heart condition, came in with severe chest pain. I waited for 1.5 hours before being taken back. Waiting room was empty when I got there, was full in about 30 minutes. 10 people were called back BEFORE me. When I went to the desk to ask why I hadn't been called they told me they were putting me in a "special" area and that a room was almost ready. When I did get called I did not even see a physician. I only saw a NP who told me she thought it was my gallbladder. They didn't hook me up to a heart monitor, even though I have heart issues and was having chest pain. They did an ultrasound of my stomach, liver, pancreas, gallbladder. Liver levels came back high in my bloodwork, but she didn't know why. Concluded that even though my gallbladder looked completely normal, no gallstones, not enlarged, that it was still my gallbladder and I should see my primary to figure it out. Never even checked my heart out. Was discharged with worse pain than I went in with. Worst ER experience. I do not recommend this hospital. Make the drive to Nashville. read more

My Father was brought in back in January 2022. He always gets pneumonia due to aspiration. They were told this upon arrival. They gave him a non essential COVID test and said he had it. We all knew this was impossible but he had to go thru the annoyance of it anyway. The ER and the ICU were wonderful. They understood he needed to have food that is thickened due to him aspirating food and liquid. I spoke to DR who treated him and he agreed that the COVID nonsense was a false positive. I asked that they take it off his chart but it never was. Gotta get those kickbacks, moving on, he was doing extremely well the second day in ICU and the DR said he could go to a normal room and be home in 3 days. They took him up to the stinking COVID floor (NOT NEEDED) and no one gave him the proper diet he needed. Soft foods and thickened liquids, The first night he choked on a pc of dried up burger and they had to do the Heimlich on him cracking a couple of ribs, AND IN 3 MORE DAYS NEVER GAVE HIM ANY PAIN MEDS! Mind you my Father is 97 years old! I went in next am and his tray was outside the room. I took it in and he was almost comatose completely the opposite he was in the ICU the day before. All of his food was food he could not eat and the liquids NOT THICKEND! I aske d the nurse several times to get him something he could eat nothing. I asked for pain meds nothing, He had to reall have a bowel movement and he was in pain NO stool softener. In the 3 days following I had to bring in food for him. I sat there with him from noon till 9 and HE NEVER GOT A TRAY. It wasn't until I told nurse I wanted to talk to DR NOW! Finally he called and he admitted that my Father would get better care at home . I finally was able to get him dressed and he was in worse shape than when we brought him in with pneumonia and sepsis for God sakes! The transport people were very rough and rude when we left. I WILL NEVER take or send anyone there again.. This dump needs a complete redo and it needs a enema to make it right. Did I mention his room was the size of a small closet. Just saying. IT WAS SHAMEFUL. I AM A CMA AND HAVE WORKED IN HEALTHCARE 12 YEARS and I was astounded at the lack of common patient care. After two falls and head injuries in oNe week, they refused to even seeing I had a concussion...no CT...nothing....EXCEPT threatened to report me for Dr. Shopping the ER for tests. The doctor laughed in my face when I told him about the falls and the fact I was unconscious for several minutes after each one. The nurse assigned to me yelled at me and threatened to have me arrested. I had two rather large knots on my head from the falls. Not exactly the way you treat a head injury...just stay away. You're better off recovering on your own, A letter to Guest Relations gets you a form letter back...and zero action on your behalf. read more

My mother-in-law fell at home and crushed her ankle and broke her leg. She was taken to the E.R. and has been in great hands since her arrival. She had surgery on her ankle and has been in so far for 8 days. She cannot put any weight on it and will be in the hospital for about another 4 weeks. I do want to point out and highlight one employee especially who has gone way above and beyond in working with our family and that would be Tena one of the Social Workers. She is very friendly and goes out of her way to help any way she can. She has been working with us and following every lead and suggestion to try and help with the rehabilitation needed for my mother-in-law. She thinks outside the box and does not quit or give up. She is the best and I say kudos. The hospital is extremely fortunate to have an employee like Tena on staff. Thank you! read more

Let me start off by saying that I had two of my four children here and had a wonderful experience then. I brought my husband to the ER with excruciating stomach pain. He was diagnosed with pancreatitis for alcohol use. The ER staff were great. The nurses in his hospital room were nice and thorough. But, this all changed when they put him in ICU with withdrawals. Next thing I know, they have him knocked out and on a ventilator. And every time I left him and came back he was worse and they kept blaming it on his DT's. Four days later, he's still in a medically induced coma. And I'm getting frustrated with the Dr's you barely see and the nurses that were rude and disrespectful and openly admitted to me that they were keeping him in that state so he would not beat up on them in a delusional state they swore he was still in. Day 8, they did a horrible botched job of trying to deintubate and left him to suffer fully conscience for 3.5 hours feeling all the pain and horror of having a tube in his throat, coughing and drowning on his own secretions. They changed their mind when his oxygen dropped and put him back under. Then the nurses set me up, said I hit a nurse when our shoulders bumped and got me PERMANENTLY BANNED from the hospital while my husband is still incapacitated. Now it's day 10 and he is still in the same condition because they keep finding excuses to get specialist to see him to raise our hospital bill. I will never recommend this hospital to anyone. And I wish I could give it no stars. This is beyond horrible and excruciating knowing my husband is at their mercy and I cannot see him, not even FaceTime see him. This is not only discrimination against my husband, this is the cruelest most inhumane treatment of people and loved ones I have ever witnessed. If you love your family go somewhere else. read more

Lined up in the hall w/numbers on the wall over our heads like cattle, we waited. After waiting over 6+ hrs in ER, got 5 min w/ER intern, and was promptly misdiagnosed. Didn't listen at all. Diagnosis: serum sickness, wrong! I'd had the illness for several weeks, running a 102 fever, and had only taken one dose of the medicine a day prior. Finally admitted to hospital and next day he tells me he's on leave for the next few weeks. Never saw him or any doctor for 7 days of 9 days in the hospital. Day 7, nothing happening, still running a fever, asked to leave hospital and was promptly sent patient advocate and a few doctors to hear my concerns. I had Dr. Proctor listed as my attending physician, but I think I saw her once in passing the entire time. Told them no relief from illness, no tests, no meds & still a fever, asked to leave or get some help. They sent Dr. Appling an "infectious diseases" expert. Appling showed up in my room full of attitude, and sat as far away from the foot of the bed as she could to talk to me. Asked me what I wanted. Explained everything to her and she said I had serum sickness. I explained to her everything that had happened before I took the one dose and after, as well as the fact that I was still running a fever. She told me I wasn't running a fever. I told her I was and I could prove it. (If she just looked at the chart, she could have seen it for herself), but I guess that's too much effort. She told me she wasn't aware of any of this. She asked me what I wanted, and I requested tests or something. She asked "For what?'. Considering the symptoms, couldn't she think of something? I asked about lyme disease? To her there was no reason for tests, but later a test was done, just didn't find out till after I left the hospital. All my symptoms are typical of toxoplasmosis, a common illness & for most people no problem. Some people have major issues and that's me. I am now partially blind & suffer flare ups w/more damage possible to other organs, because I was misdiagnosed in the ER and ignored while hospitalized. They could have started treatment instead of letting it run rampant destroying my body. Off subject regarding the hospital, the food is cheap carbs, white bread, mashed potatoes, pudding all in one meal. Of course most of the time they didn't even remember to bring a meal. Chart from ER contained errors on allergies & drugs. Listed allergies to a kind of wipe I've never used, listed drugs I don't use, even though I told them. This just continued on into the hospital stay, and there was no way to correct even if you tell them, it just follows you to the next doctor. read more

My father had bladder tumor surgery, which was cancerous, by Dr. Howard (we were very satisfied with his care). Dad had other problems too. In the past, Dr. Shah has been amazing at dealing with my father's issues. Dad left for heaven on Tues, Jan 24 after spending 21 days in room #429. We all agreed that under Dr. Wheatley, Dr. Webb and the stellar nursing staff, the care, comfort and attention afforded our father was exceptional. Three of his children live in different states and we all remarked at how wonderful the staff at Jackson-Madison served him. Thank you. My daughter-in-law is 5 1/2 months pregnant and has a high risk pregnancy. She has spent half of her pregnancy on the mother baby floor. While the staff are nice, they keep allowing her to go into diabetic emergencies because they don't seem to understand that she has to constantly eat to manage her glucose levels. They all took nursing school and they should all understand diabetic emergencies. We are furious that they keep allowing this to happen. read more

I feel a little weird reviewing this place, but I feel it should be done. My grandmother was in ICU here twice. Once in September and again in October when she passed away. I wasn't there for the first time, but in October, I flew out to see her. It said only 3 visitors at a time (I think, but it was less than we had), but no one said anything when our entire group of 3-13 at any given time stopped in to see her. The daytime nurses on her floor (2nd floor) were some of the kindest people ever and I felt they really cared about her. The night time nurses were nice also. We spent a great deal of time in the ICU waiting room where they have chairs that turn into beds for family members who stay overnight. They have anything family members who are stressed beyond belief could ask for. This hospital goes above and beyond, from what I could tell. read more

My son had surgery on 9/25/19 to amputate his 5th digit on his left foot due to Osteomyelitis from a diabetic ulcer that would not heal . This was the second surgery on his left foot . He is a grown man in pain and cannot get any relief from the pain due what the nurses say is hospital policy that they , the nurses can determine if the patient needs their pain meds or not . They let him lay there and suffer based on their decision. I am filing a formal complaint tomorrow and contacting an attorney. No surgical patient , or any patient should be in pain in this day and time . To me it is abuse and neglect to let a patient suffer . When he ask for his pain meds they just roll their eyes at him . I was in jackson general for six weeks and the patient food was horrible. Had to order about the same entrees every other day. One of the night nurses went down to subway and bought me a pizza. The best thing i ever tasted. The nurses on the eighth floor were the best. I am only giving one star because of the receptionists at the ER at about 3:15 p.m. on 8/16/18. The nurses & Jill, the Nurse Practioner, were actually fantastic once we got back there but the hospital needs to train their receptionists badly. We walked in and there was a desk on the immediate left and no one asked if we needed assistance so we walked down to the second desk on the left. The two ladies were talking and pointing at the computer and wouldn't look up. I finally asked if we should check in here and they told us to go back to the first desk. One of the ladies acted like she was annoyed at us. We walked back down to the first desk and the first lady was eating at the desk and told us to go to the next person. The next lady was smacking on gum and pointed that we should go down to the next person. The next lady took a minute to finish texting on her phone and then looked up to ask if she could help. I was recently in their hospital. The male nurse in the ER was both lazy and incompetent. He refused to push my wheelchair, in performing the EKG he refused to shave away the hair on my chest and belly so the electrods would be give an accurate reading. I showed him they were just hanging there from the hair and not touching my skin, I asked him to shave the areas, he answered with "Did you bring a razor with you"? Later I told the doctor.....he just laughed! They finally got me a room on the Cardiac floor, the nurse once again refused to push my wheelchair just saying "follow me". The reason I was there is I had been at home sitting on a chair using my nebuliser everything was normal then I woke up facedown on the floor, blood gushing out of my head which got my 14 stitches at the McKenzie hospital. I didn't know if I had had a stroke or a heart attack! They sent me to Jackson General for more tests. While in my room the nurses refused to address the huge gash on my head or to bring me my pain pills, the radioactive medicine they injected in me to do tests caused me severe stomach cramps which they also ignored. Any time I pushed the call button it seemed to make the nurses mad. I asked one of them how many patiences she had......she said 4.....really 4 are so overwhelming!! One second shift nurse acted like he was on drugs! He was asking me what medications I needed because he didn't know how to look them up! Worst of all the doctors didn't seem to care about me at all. I felt like I was surrounded by incompetent people. Between severe cramps and my head hurting so bad for days and they didn't care. I begged them to let me go home! The ONLY good thing I can say is that Housekeeping was very nice and professional. read more
