A friend was culling his herd on his game ranch and gave me a couple. So I went straight to Trophy…read moreBuck to butcher them. They were very helpful to me when I called them to arrange to drop off and pick how to prepare the meat. This was the first time for me going to a butcher and they were very helpful. I could tell that they were upselling me a bit, but that's kind of what I wanted. I wanted to go all in on the great ways to prepare the deer since I don't do it very often. If you do, then I'd recommend you asking them to send you one of their write up sheets. It has EVERYTHING on there for the deer and it would be easier to just work you way through the order form. Unfortunately, I couldn't find one on their website. Later, I grilled some of their bacon wrapped filets and they were awesome. The beef/venison was great, tasty and healthy in sloppy joes. About the time they said it would be ready, it was and they left me a message. When I called back they were very accommodating on scheduling a pickup. They are blocks of ice when you pick them up, so just put them in your cooler and away you go. The guy working when I picked up was very nice and helpful. It was in, pay, out and done. There were many mounts waiting to be picked up and they all looked exceptional. I think I have found my spot if I need to bring something in. Pro tip: Get some of their Chorizo!

I really hate to do this, but at this point it's gotta be said. First, the owner is incredibly…read morenice and this review isn't intended to be out of mean spirit or personal. The work that I have seen is great, my friend had referred others and they liked the work done on their mounts as well. I have waited over 14 months now for my mount to be completed. I was told that it would be about 8 months to completion when I first dropped it off in February of 2019. I've checked in a few times over the months, starting at the 8 month mark. Two months ago when I asked for an update I was informed that it is always 12-14 months which is not what I was told originally. I didn't expect it to be ready in exactly 8 months, but we're now 6 months past the expectation that was set initially. I was told it would not be much longer, and I still have no idea if they have even started on it, much less finished it. I've gotten a response via text or return phone call on the first try less than 50% of the time. This, along with the fact that I was contacted to identify the horns from my ram as a tag with my information was lost is concerning. Additionally, when we did speak months ago I asked to confirm the mount pose and it was the opposite of what we discussed previously. So, I'm still concerned that's going to be wrong if I ever do get my mount back. I'm fairly patient and understand that people get busy and sometimes mistakes are made, but my experience here has been bad. I hope that I can now get a commitment to make this right so that I can come back and leave a better review.

Bottom line: Not impressed with my experience with RC taxidermy…read more Pros: Mount came out looking pretty good Owner was a very friendly person Owner seems to be a talented artist Cons: The following experiences... I harvested an elk in Colorado in early October and dropped it off for a European mount. When I dropped it off I requested that it be mounted with a skull hanger, metal mount. I was told it would take about five weeks. I was also informed that a couple options existed as far as mount style, and I would be sent pictures to choose from. A few weeks later I still hadn't heard anything regarding the mounts so I placed a call and was once again told some pictures would be sent and I could choose when the owner wasn't busy. I think she forgot after she was busy because another week rolled by with no options. I called once more about three weeks into the "five weeks" it would take to get the mount and this time she actually did send me pictures. I chose one and she said no problem. Two weeks later at five weeks I called and she said she was backed up and I would get a call when it was ready. I patiently waited another month after this time and gave another call... I was essentially told it wasn't quite ready and be patient. No problem, just keep me updated on what's going on. At this time I waited some more and around Christmas called again, I was told she couldn't finish up because the skull hanger I wanted was backordered. Surprise another twist and reason it wasn't ready. All my buddies joked I would never see it again. I kind of started to believe them four months later and no elk. Finally mid February rolled around and I called once more and was told I could pick it up when the owner was back in the shop. Waited a week, called again and was told I could come get it today. I was actually a little surprised when I saw it still existed. Now buckle up, here's were things get really interesting in my experience with RC taxidermy. I show up, the elk isn't done. Bottom line it was not ready to be picked up. The skull hanger wasn't attached. The nose pieces were actually cracked, I was told this is normal but had a weird feeling. (All the research I did on euro mounts says if you're not exceedingly careful these nose pieces can pop off.) Ok I get it stuff happens. She glued them back on. But the fact the hanger/mount isn't attached after over FIVE months of waiting was insane. She gave me instructions on how to mount it and I think she sensed my discomfort because then she offered to do it. At this time she went in the back of the shop and finished it up in about ten minutes and re attached my nose pieces. Upon a quick once over, the antlers actually had some type of wood stain on them which was pretty easy to get off of the ultra hard antler material. Luckily it didn't set in or anything. I paid my $185 and left. I'm not a big review person, but I figured people should hear the story and go from there. The whole thing was super wack.
