Stopped in on a rainy Friday afternoon because it was my sweet hairy baby's birthday and everyone deserves a treat and to be celebrated on their birthday. In previous years, I had looked at the premade treats at the chain pet stores and it just didn't seem good enough to celebrate my hairy baby. So after a quick Yelp search, I found Jackboy's Dog Bakery and they were just 15 minutes from my work. The parking lot was packed but fortunately I was able to find a spot without having to circle numerous times. The bakery was easy to locate. Upon entry, there are plenty of treats, toys , and food. But what I had corn for was in a refrigerated case to the right of the register...dog friendly cupcakes made with love for my sweet hairy baby. I chose the peanut butter flavor. I also grabbed a pumpkin flavored hide treat. The cashier had a friendly conversation with the guests in front of me that had special ordered a cake for their hairy baby and his/her friends. Unfortunately it was a changing of the cashiers when I got to the front so there wasn't too much interaction. My hairy baby thoroughly enjoyed her birthday treat and I'm pretty sure she gave them 5 paws. I will definitely be returning to Jackboy's Dog Bakery for our future dog friendly treats. read more

I think ownership changed? We came in for a little cake for my pups birthday and the place was so depressing. I came here 2 years ago and the bakery displays were packed with goods and the tables were stacked with assorted dog treats and toys. Way more variety than petsmart. NOT ANYMORE. IT'S ALL GONE NOW. There were like 3 cupcakes in the fridge that looked dry and barely any merchandise or treats. Looked like the place was robbed. I was so shocked and a bit disappointed. I bought the It's My Party Cake for my special girl, Karma. She was diagnosed with cancer on her 5th birthday and although we did surgery, we were told she would be lucky if she got one year. The NEW OWNERS, aren't customer oriented at all and are quite rude. I called the night before to make sure they had cakes for walk in customers, he said they open at 11:00 am., and they have cakes ready for pick up. Today, I drive 45 minutes and was there shortly after 11:00 am., went to the refrigerator to pick out a cute cake, none to be found. Except for a flat brown dryed out cookie thing, and a some cupcakes. I talked to the owner and politely ask for a 4" birthday cake, he rudely said said we don't put cakes out until 12 noon for walk in customers! I wasn't going to waist time until noon waiting on him to hand me a cake. So, I had to settle and purchase 3 cupcakes instead of the cake. The new owners are very pushey on making customers order online, and pay upfront. Also, if you order online and want a cake the following day, there is a huge fee added to the price. That's why I decided to simply drive to pick up the cake of my choosing. They have lost me as a customer, it's a shame I've bought many cakes from the previous owners who were amazing and supper friendly people. read more

I've had this place bookmarked for several years now but never really got the chance to stop by earlier only because it's so out of the way. Last year, I ordered a custom made cake online for my senior dog that was turning 16. This year was his 17th birthday and the cake was just too much so we opted to get a refrigerated cupcake and some bite sized, moist, refrigerated treats. Everything was excellent and they're also safe for human consumption. The treats actually smell pretty good so if you have a gag reflex when serving dog food and/or treats, look no further and just give this place a shot. Prices are actually not too bad at all considering this place is located in the Anaheim Hills area and they're all made in-house with premium ingredients. During both of my visits, I believe it was the owner that I met at the shop. She is a very lovely woman and will answer any questions about everything. They have everything available even for those that have a tough time chewing due to age and weak teeth. I've been going back and forth about leaving a review, but the more I look at their photos on yelp and compare them to the current cake I bought for my dogs 1st birthday, the more I felt compelled to write a review. The two gentlemen working were very friendly and welcoming. The shop is small but cute, and I have nothing negative to say about the environment or the customer service. Unfortunately, my order itself was a different story. I ordered my dog's birthday cake at this shop because it's local and had great reviews. The photos of their work were great, and I know my dog isn't even going to look twice at the cake so the presentation doesn't matter to my dog, but as the person who payed almost 50$, it matters to me. So, i was underwhelmed when I picked up the cake. I ordered it online the day before and the ordering process was very straightforward. I chose to pick it up at 1130am. I got there a little early so it wasn't ready but that wasn't a problem at all. I only waited about 20 mins. When they showed it to me the writing was illegible. Again, dogs can't read, but seriously it was bad. explained that the green frosting is runny because the spinach doesn't stick well, and he also mentioned that the green frosting was supposed to be taken off the store's menu six weeks ago but was still there. He offered to re write it in another color, so I asked him if he could. He was very nice and understanding. But then he left the store & said the other guy was going to do it once the frosting heated up. So I waited another 10-15 mins. By this point I've been in their store for 40 mins and I'm ready to leave. When it was done the guy showed it to me to see if it was okay and honestly it looked better than before but still looked like my 5 year old goddaughter wrote it. I was a little embarrassed to ask them to do it a 3rd time so I just said it was good and left. When I got into my car to look at it I noticed they didn't even cross the "t" in birthday so it literally says "birlhday". I think they should be a little more transparent with what their cakes all look like and not just the "pretty" / legible ones. I shouldn't be as disappointed because it's a cake for my dog but it's upsetting. read more

I choose this bakery shop because of it's high Yelp reviews. It's one of my baby furry's birthday and decided to get him a Happy Birthday cookie and some other cute cookies for his sisters. I bought " Birthday Boy" bandana and birthday cone hats as well. The birthday celebrant and his sisters enjoyed the cookies (I didn't give them that much though) until over 6 hours later, all the dogs experienced diarrhea and vomiting. Though the other two fur babies' symptoms only lasted for a day, my fur boy, didn't. His symptoms lasted for 3 days on-&-off that I had to take him to his vet. I would assume that this dog bakery would bake quality pastries (based from the Yelp reviews as well). This place has really gone downhill since they changed ownership. When Athena owned the bakery, orders were always on time, she and her staff went over and beyond the call of duty to make sure that your orders were fulfilled and arrived on time, they always responded to emails and inquiries, and if errors were made they rectified their mistakes. This last order didn't even get processed. They give you the wrong email address and it seems to be on purpose so they can avoid you. The new owner, Cris, is rude, condescending, was argumentative, unapologetic and ​didn't bother to fill the order, apologize for disappointing my dogs on Christmas, or for the complete neglect of my order. To top it all off, they didn't even have holiday themed cookies this year for Christmas. Do not come to this bakery, because as soon as they changed ownership it has become a poor excuse for a business. I'll be following up with the BBB. read more
