I had lost faith in Kaiser restaurants after an expensive and horrible meal at The Chop House in Palm Desert. However, The Jackalope Ranch came through once again for us. Dustin M. provided exceptional service and with a sense of humor too. The meal (I had the rib eye) was fantastic! Update to my previous review. Food continues to slip. Atmosphere of the place is still fantastic but food and drinks just don't hold up. Margarita was too sweet and fake tasting; ribs / don't bother. Until this place gets a real BBQ set up - it will continue to be a pretender. Last year we came for two step Tuesday and had a great time. This year we came at 5 pm for dinner and two step Tuesday at 6 like their web site says and find out they changed to 7 pm. Had to sit and listen to loud conversation and two different speakers of songs. Gave me a headache. Food was pretty good. When this place first opened it was awesome, love the food and service. The place is gorgeous. We came here often and it was happening and tasty. Fast forward 3 years and it really lost its charm. The staff is a joke, the hostess was coloring a kids menu because she was bored. The staff was slow and inexperienced. Food was very slow coming out and not tasty. Mine was undercooked and my spouses was over cooked and cold. The kids hated the fact that they no longer offer rolls. They took away their valet. It's a matter of time before this place shuts down. We ordered the filet mignon and halibut. Both were good but the portions were extreamly small for $40! My beer was bigger than the cuts of meat. 8 oz filet mignon for $40 the piece was smaller than the diameter of my glass. And the halibut was the size of 4x 1" for $37! What am i paying for? The actual building is very nice with adequate parking....the greeters were friendly and attentive....the service and food were about a 7 of 10....in many ways it reminded me of Outback Steakhouse on steroids but with prices that were about 40% higher... so overall not bad but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there again..... read more

Terrible service, our original waitress Jackie took our order and left never came to let us know she was leaving or introduce the new waitress Jennifer. Our cocktail drinks didn't come until after our order which was very watered down. The bathroom has three stalls and one is broken and three faucet and two are broken. Then we ordered 2 wings and 2 side of fries but the waitress failed to mention the fries came in a basket and we could of shared. The best thing about this place is it amazing outside area. Also cute bar tables made out of shotguns. Btw our original waitress can't back but never came to our table however she did hover over our new waitress Jennifer . Craziness!! I was hesitant to go here after reading a few bad reviews after they had first opened, but my parents had been a few times and seemed to like it and suggested we go. They have a pretty good happy hour menu if you eat in the bar or outside. Unlike most happy hours that have 1/2 appetizers and things of that nature, this is actually a real menu with reduced prices. The entrees are things like pulled pork sandwiches, beef/pork/chicken/fish tacos, hamburgers, ect. All are around 8 to 10 bucks and are great value! I got the carnitas tacos not expecting a whole lot, but was very surprised on how great they were! The pork was very lean and flavorful and came with sides of guacamole (very good - and I am a guacamole aficionado), some pico de gallo, beans, and a salsa so you could make your own creation. Hint: Ask for some cilantro on side! I got three tacos to my order and almost was able to eat 2 of them they were so big all for $8. My cousin got the ribs, and although they looked good, they didn't like them, although she is from Austin, so there might have been a little bit of Texas snobbery going on there. My dad always gets the shrimp tacos and although looked good, the shrimp are fried, which I do not like to have in tacos. I also heard the tortilla soup was good. Some nachos were at the other end of the table and to me, looked hideous. Overall a very solid place. Great happy hour and the regular menu looks good too. My boyfriend and I along with our two kids were in town so his aunt wanted to treat us to lunch, she said the place was pretty neat and we should check it out. Short and simple and to the point. The place is beautiful!my margarita was ok my food was awful! I had a chicken caesar salad and I didn't even eat it after 3 bites I really tried considering I was super hungry but it was that bad. Met some friends for a happy hour get together. The server was very nice. We sat in the Saloon and we ordered drinks. Took 20 min to get our drinks!! Wtf?? We were 5 steps away from the bar how long does it take?! When we finally got our drinks we ordered food. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. I ordered another beer right then saying "it'll be another 20 min for it to come so minus well order now! I'll want it then!" We had a good laugh. I wasn't being mean just was being honest. Our server took it well and what do you know.. 20 min later here it comes. I then ordered number 3 and again took 20min!! Four of use went for lunch at this location. I was beautiful outside and inside. We sat inside, our waiter was working 95% outside and the inside bar area. We just sat there. No service. Took 25 min just to get our drinks. One of the drinks was not correct and sent it back. We finished our drinks and still no one to take our food order. Our waiter was outside most of the time. Went to the front desk several times and said we need service and speak to a Manager. 10 minutes later our server showed up to take our orders. The Manager never showed up. He did walk past us several times but never stopped. The food was just horrible. My wife had the prime rib sandwich, the meat was cold and had no taste. My Mushroom burger was "burnt" on the outside and rare in the middle. My granddaughter had the pulled pork sandwich, but the sandwich was just mush. Had to eat it with a fork. For this $100 lunch we could have gone to "Arbys and in-an-out" to get better food a lot less $. Never again!!!!!! read more

I'm giving this because we were seated in the outside bar and no one ever came to check on us if we wanted a drink,food anything. I feel that after 15 minutes it was appropriate for us to leave so we left. My major issue is when we were leaving one of the employees said thank you hope it was pleasurable and I made the comment that we were leaving because no one made contact with us once we were seated! Came to Jackalope Ranch with a Bachelorette Party of 14 this past Saturday night. We made reservations about 3 weeks in advance so they knew we were a big party. Showed up right on time, the restaurant was sparsely populated, and were told that our table would be ready in about 10-15 minutes so we went to the bar and ordered drinks. Service at the bar was great and all of our drinks were brought out just as we were told our table was ready. The room we were seated in was separate from the rest of the dining area and was freezing cold. Granted, it was about 110 degress outside but this room was really cold. We asked for the AC to be turned down and it was. Our server came and asked if we needed any more drinks, we said no since we had just ordered them at the bar, and she let us know that someone would be bringing water in a couple of minutes. TWENTY minutes later and still no water, she returned and apologized about the wait and explained that customers usually didn't sit in this room so the busboy probably didn't see us. She said she'd get the water out as quickly as possible. At this time, she also let us know that we could split our bill individually between all 14 people and made it seem as if it was not a big deal. Once our order was finally taken, we waited an HOUR for our food to be delivered to our table. The server checked in on us ONCE during this time and never apologized that it was taking so long, only said, "Oh, the food isn't here yet?" and then walked back out of the room. The food finally arrived, was ok for the price, except a few of us had to send our filet mignon back to the kitchen because we had ordered it medium and it came out cold and completely uncooked in the inside. More like steak tartare. Because we had a time limit on dinner (we made other plans for later that night) we requested the checks as all of us finished our meals. Another half hour later, they were brought and an 18% gratuity was added on since we were such a big party. I usually tip more than 18% but wanted to give this restaurant 10%. The only reason I didn't put up a fuss was because we had already been there for almost 3 hours and were in a rush. This restaurant is not worth your time. read more

Just left this restaurant. Food was good. Customer service .. the worst. Went for the happy hour. Was seated outside. Asked about the appetizers and 1/2 priced drinks. Never did the waitress tell us, where we were seated was regular pricing from the menu. We proceeded to order multiple appetizers and beverages before 6 pm. When we got our bill, everything was the regular price. My husband asked the manager about it. He proceeded to argue " didn't we know what menu we were ordering from". The waitress lied and said she had made it perfectly clear to us. She had said nothing. They finally cut 33% off the bill instead of the happy hour 50%. Really.... Our bill is going to break them. Loved it! Recommend it to all my friends visiting. Every time we are in the area it's a must. I've noticed a change, seems like Jackalope is really running smoothly, quick service, fast seating, and food is out pronto! Overall a fun friendly place that me and my friends love to hang and enjoy. They also have the best happy hour if that's your thing. And the BBQ is delicious! Tough ribs, tasteless and fatty brisket. Do not waste your money. There are too many good restaurants out there. Manager put it back on us when we informed her that the food was not good. Came her for an early Mother's day dinner becuase mom had been here before. The grounds are nice and there was live music which was nice. The service is good, but we found that the menu has changed and not for the better. The food is way over priced and tasted like something you could get at Denny's. The atmosphere and ambiance is something I look forward to viewing every time I visit. You see the details in every aspect of this masterpiece! From the customer service, to the fresh and delicious food! My husband and I were trapped inside on this Sunday afternoon due to a unexpected flash flood, everyone was so accommodating they even made us rain poncho's from trash bags so we could get to our car. We wish to thank everyone who assisted us with this and for letting us go out a door which was closer to our car! We made a safe get away, only looking forward to visiting Jackalope soon! We sat in the bar area prior to our reservation time. The service was excellent. We were seated right away come our reservation time. After we were seated we waited 20 mins before a server, who was not assigned to us noticed that we had been there waiting that long. She came over and was very friendly andhelpful. She was apologetic for the lack of sservice on behalf of her male coworker. She helped us right away, stayed with us for the rest of the evening and because of her, our night ended on a wonderful note. Thank you Robin! You provided fantastic service. This place needs a lot of improvement in customer service and food quality. Our family of 6 had Eater Brunch and requested an outdoor table. She gave a table in over hot Sun and I refused the table and asked for a table with umbrella. She didn't want to move us because we didn't have a reservation. I finally was able to convince the waitress to let us have a table with umbrella. The buffet tables were out of plates and food mess all over. This is the worst buffet I've ever been to. I really am so sorry to see such mediocre reviews of the Jackalope Ranch. I was very impressed with the spectacular grounds and the attention to detail inside and out. I also thought the service was excellent, it looked to me that the staff was Jonny-on-the-spot setting up tables with heat lamp as soon as customers arrived. I also thought the happy hour items that we ordered were great, the coleslaw was very good but would be nice if it went back to the unique style I heard about with pineapples. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the Chicken Quesadilla I ordered virtually had no chicken in it, still good flavor but this should be more chicken+ and less cheese. Our waitress told us we were able to split our check. When the bill arrived, the manager appeared and rudely dismissed her comments, telling us we would not be able to separate the items we purchased. He continued on to say we would have to read the menu, as it is in tiny font on the bottom of the back page. My bad for not reading the entire menu to decipher whether I can split my check. The main issue is his attitude. He was incredibly rude. There was no justification for his actions. When it is a group of eight women you are speaking to, the tone you use is everything. In interacting with two of the seating stands each had three people behind them and acted like we hate it here and wish you weren't here but I have to do this. When finally getting a seat at the bar I felt like it was an episode of Sienfeld where the staff were rude and if I decide to serve you you will like it and not ask for anything else. The bar staff was only complaining about how busy it was and talked to each other. When I talked to the manager he said I didn't understand the resturaunt business. I used to love Kaiser Restaurants.. Hoggs Breath Inn was my favorite.. But seems like they already gave up.. Hoggs closed down, Chop house closed down and on my last visit Jackalope Ranch was pretty much empty.. We came here based upon the recommendation of a co worker. The place was really neat. Huge space with great architectural features. Enormous bar area. We had prompt service however the food was just ehhh... My pork sliders weren't saucy at all they were dry and flavorless. We also had some steak tacos which were also flavorless and dry. The wedge salad was tasty. Maybe we should have just had a bunch of those instead of some eats off the happy hour menu? BBQ I though was supposed to be saucy and full of flavor?
