After briefly telling John what i was looking for he arranged a house visit to assess the job and a price quotation. He arrived when he said he would and brought sample door handles, hinges and door types with him for us to choose from. He made helpful reccomendations that we would never have considered and gave us a fair price for the job, There was no pressure to commit and no price for quotation even though he travelled 50 odd miles to assess the job. We hired him. Everything from start to finish was taken care of, he supplied everything. He arrived when he said he would and did exactly what he was employed to do and even a little bit extra! Most importsntly to us was that as we live in the house we were hoping for minimal disruption and we werent disappointed. We left him to work away on his own when we were out at work safe in the knowledge that he was a decent person. He put up with more disruption from us with children in and out and day to day life than we did from him. I cant say enough, we got top quality work (which was no easy feat as our hous ehas more crooked walls than straight ones)at a good price and there was no messing around.

I always find the staff very helpful and chatty. And personally I know that they do refund items! Iv got items refunded there myself so I dont know what the other comment is in relation too, clearly someone has a bee in their bonnet about the shop but there is no need to be slanderous! 'No Comeback on anything' I know from experience that is a lie, i have changed many items there over the years. Personally I think the shop has a great selection and I love just going in there for a potter about to see what they have, I am always welcomed and the staff chat away to me weather im spending money or not, which I think is nice, a lot of human interaction is gone from shopping these days, call me old fashioned but I think that's half of it, the social aspect.

I bought my last two jackets here, as they are the only ones who sell the nylon water-proof ones that I like, and they do it at a decent price too sure. The only bad thing is some days they open later than the times posted on the door, but sure, if you are not pressed for time and can call back it's not a big deal. Just be aware before making plans to call in here that their hours seem to be tentative.

I had a meeting with one of the proprietors of McCarthy's and thought I would share it here…read more One of the owners noticed me, he told me he recognised me from my profile picture, and stopped me the other day up town to let me know personally he wanted me to give his shop another try and he would do whatever he could to make sure I was a satisfied customer. I thought this was brilliant and a good example of customer service that you don't see that often these days. I told him since he was nice enough to make the offer I would of course give his shop another shot, as soon as my son grows out of the shoes he is currently wearing. It's always good to see a business taking the time to address feedback from the community. That alone is worth another two stars, and there may be more on the way after my next visit! Most pairs of shoes and slippers I have purchased there are under twenty quid. A great place to go if you need some casual shoes, slippers, and of course a new pair of boots and don't want to splash down a small fortune on some crazy logo.
