After seeing everything Natalie and Avery have taken on... yeah, he's probably right . They've poured their blood, sweat, and tears into bringing this campground back to life while keeping its original charm. What really makes this place stand out is the HUGE pool, the sense of community they're creating with vendor markets and themed weekends, and Natalie and Avery themselves. They're genuinely passionate about what they're building, and it shows. It was really cool getting to spend a couple days here and see all of their hard work firsthand. We had 6 adults and 2 kids on the group rustic site, and it was such a great setup. It had water, plenty of shade, felt surprisingly private, and at $50 a night it was an incredible value. They even had free firewood from an ice storm if you didn't mind splitting it yourself with the provided axe. The pool isn't heated, but it was perfect for the weather we had. There's also a small game room, which was a nice bonus. The bathrooms were clean, and the showers were fantastic. Great water pressure, hot water... IYKYK. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because it's still a work in progress in a few spots. You can see improvements happening everywhere you look. We'll definitely be back, and I can't wait to see what Natalie and Avery do with the place next!

They are constantly improving the grounds and adding more features. It's beautiful! Great hiking in the area and a sandy beach about 5 minutes away. There is also a cute downtown area in Alpena.

I love this airport!…read more Convenient: APN is closer to me than MBS and way closer than FNT. Cost-effective: Driving to MBS, FNT, or worse yet DTW, takes hours and adds mileage to your vehicle. I justify the additional cost of APN by considering travel time, mileage, and cost to park at MPN or FNT. Using the IRS car mileage reimbursement rate (62.5 cents per mile as of June 9, 2022, but this rate can change several times a year), I multiply this rate and the distance to either MPN or FNT. For MPN, which is 100 miles away from me, the cost of wear and tear on my vehicle is $62.50. Long-term parking at MBS is currently $8 per day. APN currently does not charge for short- and long-term parking. On a perfect day, this trip will take me 2.25 hours to drive. I value my time to be worth more than minimum wage, even today's inflated minimum wage. Together, these costs justify me spending an extra $150 to fly into DTW to catch a connecting flight. Comfortable: The new terminal is bigger and more comfortable than the old Quonset hut they used to use.

WARNING - Bed Bugs in Duplex 10 at Jacks Landing…read more I want to start by saying I have stayed at Jacks every year for the past 22 years and have always enjoyed our vacations until this year. We mostly stayed in Duplex 10 but have also stayed at the waterfront cabins and Anglers Hideaway. This year we stayed the week of July 6th in Duplex 10. We discovered a bed bug issue towards the end of the week. We started getting red bite marks and waking up to find blood on the sheets. Upon further inspection we discovered live bed bugs and a lot of black/red stains on the box springs of all three beds and evidence on the futon. We immediately notified the management and were extremely disappointed in the response. They said they always clean the rooms and have never seen evidence of bed bugs. The offered us a $150 gift certificate for next year and told us one of the managers was going to the store to get "stuff" to clean it up right away. When we pushed for a full refund they said "they don't know where they came from" insinuating that we brought them with us. This is a very big infestation and not hard to find once we looked closer. All four people who stayed in the cabin had upwards of 50+ bites appear once we were home and started looking closer. We kick ourselves for not inspecting the bed upon arrival but after 22 years you tend to trust a place. I understand that these things happen but the response from the manager was the worst part. She said she had them before and it was not a big deal to get rid of them. They insinuated we brought them. Worst of all I believe they are going to try to "clean" it themselves. From what I read (and I have not read a lot) bed bugs are difficult to eliminate, and my guess is they will continue to be a problem at Jacks. I want to raise awareness to all potential guests at Jack that bed bugs were in Duplex 10 to be very cautious if staying at Jacks Landing

The owners greeted us and were extremely nice and hospitable. They even gave us a bag of newspaper to use as fire starter. We stayed in the Villa but there are several other cabins on the property. It was dog friendly and there was a volleyball court and cornhole on site. Inside there was a full sized fridge, stove, microwave, and 2 double beds. You do have to bring your own bedding and towels but they have blankets and comforters. The place was clean and well taken care of. There was a stand up shower and the water does smell but I'm sure that's typical of the area. There is a small grocery store and bar within a 10 minute drive. Each cabin has a rowboat or you can rent a motor for it. There is also a fire pit with chairs that you can use and also a grill. One recommendation: bring toilet paper and dish soap/a sponge. They did provide one roll of toilet paper but that was it and there were pots and pans to use but nothing to clean them with. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and feel we got a lot of value for the money. Can't wait to come back!
