San Luis Obispo Repertory Theatre stepped in for the Lumina gala with exactly that -- and it's the kind of contribution that reminds you how important live theater is to a community. There's something about sitting in a room, lights down, story unfolding, that still feels a little magical -- and SLO REP clearly understands how to keep that magic alive while showing up for causes that matter. Supporting women and families and giving people a reason to get dressed up and feel something? That's a win all the way around. Art with a heartbeat. And a community that shows up. That said, as usual, the venue knocked it out of the park, as I sat through that visual and audio assault, I was comfortable. It's incredible that the high school performances there are stark in comparison. What actual professionalism and passion looks like vs a bunch of people who thought "hey let's do a play". Thank you for the wonderful experiences, hopefully the next show I attend can wash out the previous one.
