Worst restaurant in Griffin. Went there to have a nice dinner with my wife and mom. I ordered the cowboy steak or something like that (the biggest on menu) Medium Rare the steak arrived, between raw and rare... My wife ordered a spaghetti, it arrived floating in water and my mother she nit picked her chicken that looked boiled because her sugar was dropping she is diabetic. So overall a big zero, the only semi good thing that happened is that we didn't pay but we lost a lot of time. The staff was nice but we go there for the food not the staff. read more

This is one of the nicer restaurants in Griffin as far as atmosphere goes... then again, it's Griffin, so that's not saying much. Yes, it is nicer than Appleby's, Chic-fil-a, BBQ restaurants and fast food. Woo-hoo. The menu items are incredibly boring in my opinion. Would you care for some boring steak, some boring chicken, some boring pork, or some boring fish? Maybe some decent rolls with MARGARINE (gross)? They do have pretty good chicken tenders, caesar salad, and one of the best things on the menu is the squash casserole (which they actually took off the menu for a while). I know people who love J. Henry's, but I generally consider those people to have very bland, boring, uncultured palates. Dull food for boring people. The atmosphere, like I said, is good, a little upscale, and it's a good place to go if you're dressed up. You'll probably see QUITE a few people you know, if you live in Griffin. I was pleasantly surprised. We had the prime rib and it was quite good. It was $18 each which is not unreasonable, and it was huge. A big Dewars was only $5 and the pints $3.50. Nice place to eat in Griffin. read more

OK, went here for lunch on a Saturday as 6th Street Pier was closed. Decent bread arrived with Land O Lakes "Fresh Buttery Taste Spread." with this clue, throttled back and ordered French onion soup with Caesar salad and iced tea. The iced tea was OK, Caesar was marginal, and the soup must have been from a can with local addition of salt, lots of salt. read more

So, this is probably the nicest restaurant in Griffin. The decor has a casual elegant feel. It's nothing special but nice. The service has always been fine too. They have changed their menu ,since I was last there. When, I have been there, the shrimp were really really good. They are probably the best thing on the menu. They used to have an Italian chicken dish that was good ,but it is no longer on the menu. Their salads are good ,and they put some new ones on the menu that sound really tasty. I would not recommend their steaks ,unless they have changed too. I don't eat much steak ,but my dad does. He has never been impressed or really happy with their steaks. read more

J. Henry's is a place that I only get a chance to go to every blue moon, since it's close to my job and not my house. Every time I go, the food has been consistently good. They have a small menu which I think works in their favor. They have some of the best salads although this time I ordered a burger for lunch and nibbled off a friends salad. We also had the spinach dip which was really good. I think for the type of restaurant it is or is trying to be, they need a better tasting burger(the owners should Google best burger in GA and go out and try some). The burger seemed to be just a regular frozen patty and if it wasn't, it was just too dry for my taste. Nothing special. As for the fries, they are delicious, I'm so glad they brought those back versus the new fries they tried for a while. So all in all, they need to step up the burger or just stick to the other menu items. If you go, go on Sunday... Get the chicken and cheese soup, it's only offered on Sundays. Always great service and okay food. It is affordable but the menu never changes. The manager is so kind. They are willing to work with whatever problems arise to ensure that you have a great experience. You can't expect for things to be fixed if you don't say something . If they accidentally mess up an order, be understanding and kindly say something to the waiter or waitress. Accidents happen, people aren't perfect. However, I know that they genuinely will do whatever they can to make it right. For a more upscale restaurant in griffin, I would highly recommend this place. My grandma and I went to J. Henry's last week and I got the Caesar salad with grilled chicken and it was wonderful! Definitely will be back soon! read more

The restaurant had a good atmosphere.we ordered fried green tomatoes which didn't realize they were covered in balsamic vinegar and blue cheese was way too much.I got Tuscan chicken pasta which had the driest chicken I almost checked on it.The price is way to high for the quality. We had a group of 7 people go for a birthday dinner. If your party is over 6 people they automatically add an 18% gratuity. The food was amazing but the waiter we had was terrible. We had to flag him down just to place our food order. We only got 2 refills the whole time we where there and we had to flag him down just to pay him. Way overpriced for what you get. Weak martini, Cowboy rib eye was about as thick as my pinky finger. Probably a 12 oz. steak once you cut the bone off and doubt there was even 4 ounces of chicken on the grilled chicken pasta. Service? Ordered 2 entrees and both were not what I ordered. I am not much to complain so I ate what they brought me but I did bring it to their attention after I paid and left a 10% tip so...........small tip. The food was cook good and tasty. I don't go here much since I don't live in Griffin, but it's a good place to go for excellent food. Never had a bad meal here. Wait staff is never all that friendly, but I always sit in the bar since I'm always alone. And the bartenders are always busy since that tend the bar and service the wait staff. I will say that the last time I was in the bartender was very attentive and efficient, but I never see the same person twice in a row. read more

This restaurant is in the heart of small town Griffin. I work in the boonies so I get to try the mom and pop places. This restaurant is considered semi-upscale for Griffin. Talk about southern hospitality...great staff!I have only been here for lunch but if anyone is ever down here...this is the place to go to for some good prime rib!!!! read more

We first visited J Henry's when it first opened. The food was very good and the service was excellent. We stopped going when the food and the service took a nose dive a couple of years later. We recently revisited J Henrys to "give it another try". Sadly, my wife and I both agree that J Henrys rates about 1.5 stars on a 5 star system. The staff just doesn't seem to really care and the food is mediocre at best. The prices are high for the quality of food you get. It's ashamed, we really wanted J Henrys to shine...but it's lost it's luster. read more

It is shocking that people complain about what is far and away one of the best restaurants in Griffin. It is also a great place to take business clients for a reasonable lunch in a great atmosphere. If you are too genteel and your palate too refined for a great local restaurant then, by all means, move to a much more sophisticated area such as Clayton County (tongue firmly inserted in cheek). read more
