Don't waste your time or your money here. Everything is way overpriced for the quality and amount of food that you get. My husband got the $34 cowboy ribeye and it had absolutely no seasoning, not even salt and pepper. And the side of mashed potatoes that came with this $34 steak, were instant potatoes. You would think that they would spring for at least a real potato with a $34 steak. I ordered the chicken Alfredo. Both the chicken and the Alfredo were so dry that I had to ask for an additional side of sauce to make it somewhat palatable. And it was incredibly bland. In fact, it was so bad, that my pasta loving toddler would not even eat it. He said it was "yuck" and refused it. And if the bad reviews don't tell you anything, the fact that it was completely empty at 6:30, during the dinner rush, should give you a clue. We should have paid attention to that clue. read more

Second time here and was disappointed. First off this is so called upscale for this area. Maybe so, because Griffin GA doesn't offer much in the area of great cuisine. I had a steak and the quality wasn't even as good as Longhorns but the price was high. I might also add that it was cooked wrong and barely warm. My wife had a bowl of chili and it was barely warm. Called over the manager and he handled it well and discounted the meal, but I just wanted a good meal. He mentioned he had some new staff. I gave them 3 stars but should be 2 1/2. Nestled into a strip mall in the heart of Griffin lies J. Henry's restaurant. The service is friendly and efficient, and the place has an elegant, fine-dining vibe. During a recent lunch visit with a client, I ordered the in-house smoked salmon salad with the house-made lemon lime dressing. If you're a fan of smoked salmon, I highly recommend it. My client's pasta primavera looked and smelled amazing, and was loaded with fresh, seasonal vegetables. While J. Henry's does not have a gluten free menu, they were able to accommodate my allergy easily, and my server even relayed information about the cheese they use at the restaurant. Theirs is gluten free because they shred it themselves. However, the chef wanted me to beware of shredded cheeses in the grocery store since many brands add flour to the cheese to help it not stick together. The good. Seated immediately on Saturday night without reservations. Service was timely and professional. The beer selection was excellent. The bad. We were first timers so not a huge sample size but our food was just awful. The large blackened shrimp were neither blackened nor large. The 10oz sirloin was advertised with a "garlic sauce". It was just a few people inside and being a party of 12 we were seated right away in a nice semi private area. Our waitress was the sweetest ever! Now to the food... DEELISH Everything was hot, seasoned well, and fresh! From my veggie burger, to my husband's salmon, sons steak burger and daughters chicken Alfredo. I dined here last evening for dinner with colleagues and friends. I was not aware of this place, and was very impressed and was pleased it is locally owned and operated. The waitress was very attentive and sweet but appeared to be a little anxious. I started with the Potato Bacon Soup, and it was warm and absolutely delicious. I loved it. It had the right amount of bacon, cheese, and creamy potato. The bread arrived to our table cold. For my entree, I had the Reuben sandwich which was simply delicious. I loved it. It was hot and everything seemed fresh. I also had a side salad which was served to almost the size of a dinner portion. I do feel that it had just a little too much cheese, most of which I had to push off to the side. They honored my request for an extra helping of Ranch dressing. It was quite good. I ended with trying the Baked Apple Cheese Cake, which had a very good flavor but the top, as pictured, was slightly burned. The food was horrible. My husband and I stopped in and sat in the bar area. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and the boom boom shrimp. The tomato's were not seasoned at all and sliced so thin that they were over cooked. The shrimp seemed frozen due to all the shrimp pieces in the basket and they were never properly cleaned. They still have feces in them. My water had a black thing floating around as well. We finished our beers and left. We were planning on eating dinner. We will not be back. read more

Unfortunately a bad experience and poor service night. No one answering the phone for take out orders and the wrong recording indicating that they were closed 3 days ago. So I appeared in person for a takeout order, waiting 30 minutes in the bar. It could have been worth it, but not when you take the wrong orders home. I've never been a fan of the horrible artificial tasting smoked salmon salad. The only good thing was at least the manager gave me a refund. Likely the kitchen's fault anyway. My mistake was trying to get something at J. Henry's on a Friday night, busiest night of the week with inadequate staffing. I'm an easy to please, long term customer, but not happy this time. Visiting Griffin, Ga for the weekend and found this gem of a restaurant. The service was outstanding. I had the house salad with blue cheese dressing, the salad dressing is homemade in house and the blue cheese dressing was some of the best I have ever had. My steak was cooked perfectly. Was traveling for business and somehow ended up in Griffin. While this is in a tiny strip mall, the décor inside is warm and inviting. I sat at the bar and had the jambalaya pasta which was really good. They also had my favorite bourbon, Basil Hayden, so all was well. This is more of a 3.5 star review. The extra half star going to the atmosphere and ambiance of the restaurant itself. The interior is beautiful, the booths they have are extremely roomy and there is ample spacing between the tables. I would have given this 4 stars but the prices do not reflect the quality of the food. There is a great selection of Gluten Free options on the menu, but only one vegetarian option. We ordered: * The Fried Green Tomato appetizer. This was great, but needed a lot more of the balsamic vinegar on the plate. * Vegetarian Burger with a side of mashed potatoes. My daughter said the burger was "just ok". She said the potatoes were really good. * Bacon Cheddar Potato Soup with a side of Broccoli Salad. My MIL really enjoyed the soup. She did not, however, enjoy the broccoli salad. It was huge uncooked broccoli florets with minimal dressing, and no raisins in the salad. It needs a lot of work. * Kids Grilled Cheese Sandwich with a side of broccoli salad. My 5 year old are one of the two sandwiches on her plate. I loved that the sandwich was thin and on white bread. It totally met our expectations of a grilled cheese sandwich. My 5 year old was not a fan of the salad even though she loves raw broccoli. * The Ruben Sandwich with a side of Sweet Potato Fries. My husband said the Ruben and the Sweet Potato fries were good. * The French Dip Sandwich with a side of Sweet Potato Fries. The French Dip was delicious. This is the most elegant restaurant in Griffin, as the prices reflect. However, the food doesn't quite match the price. It's good, that's for sure, but the only time I go here is when everyone at the office wants to "go out for lunch." It's not really someplace I crave to go. Henry's is pretty much a place that caters to its regulars and locals but makes everyone who stops by feel welcomed. It's within walking distance to other bars and restaurants downtown but sits in a small strip mall off a quiet residential area. They have a nice but small fully stocked bar off the main dining area that also has seating. Working in the area for a few months and J Henry's was recommended by a few people. I was able to go by there but only for a carry out order. I ordered the French onion soup and the Reuben sandwich with potato salad as my side. The French onion soup had good taste and a decent portion size but wasn't very hot. I'm guessing that is because they serve it in a stylophone container. The Reuben sandwich had great taste even though I ate it could but it was very thin. Had very ingredients in it. With price being a little high I expected a better made sandwich. The restaurant seemed fairly clean what I could see of it. It took about 10 minutes to complete my order. The staff was just nice enough to push them over the line from being rude ... Make sense ? Borderline rude. We were told that this restaurant was an incredibly "Up-scale Dining" experience... DEFINITELY NOT!!!! Located in an old strip-mall, your experience begins as you walk into a renovated department store and you are greeted with judgmental glares from the 8 waitresses behind the hostess station. From the old ceiling tiles (undoubtedly painted to hide the stains from the previous store tenants), to the sagging bladed ceiling fans covered in layers of dust and grime, the decor reminded me of a cheaply designed country buffet in some backwoods town. The fake plants in hanging baskets were just icing on the cake... there was nothing special about the food (General, low budget, ingredients). The asparagus was horribly bitter, salmon over cooked, French onion soup was not even consumable... It was like pulling teeth to get a drink refill. To top it off, the waitress actually tossed the check onto the table as she walked by. The only thing that was to the standard of "up-scale dining" was the prices on the menu. I want to like J. Henry's more but every time I go I can't shake the feeling that it's just a locally owned Applebee's or Longhorn. The food is usually good although don't expect any creativity. Steaks, burgers, a pasta or two, and French fries in a place that seems to present itself as so much more. There are a few signs of life on the menu with smoked salmon, a delicious fried and smothered chicken breast, and caprese salad but they're hidden behind fried chicken fingers, ribeye steaks, and fried coconut shrimp that exist in most chain restaurants in the area; and usually for cheaper. I can't fault the owners for catering to their clientele, which tend to be on the older side, but give us younger folks an option for when we're there for one of the regular's birthday parties and maybe we'll come back on our own. read more

I had higher expectations than what was delivered unfortunately and I don't know that I would order then again. They just blue cheese crumbles and balsamic vinegar which have them an interesting flavor, just wasn't what I was looking for. For my meal I had the NY Strip with naked potato and house salad. My boyfriend had the salmon with asparagus and said it was good minus the small amount that was served. Overall, this is a solids place to return to for a casually nice dinner. J Henry's is a nice relaxing place with good food at a fair price. Be sure to check your boxes if you have take out orders. We have ordered fried mushrooms on more than 1 occasion and when we get home it looks like we have been given the scraps. It was bad enough that they would definitely not serve them in the restaurant and had I saw them before I left I would have asked for my money back. Also make sure they give you bread and all you're dipping sauces they tend to leave those out. read more
