aaahhh, memories of Meyer. I graduated from Stanford a few years ago, and I miss Meyer dearly. It was the only place on campus ugly and uncomfortable enough to actually get work done. Other libraries are just so beautiful and comfortable that I either get distracted or fall asleep. but not in Meyer! that place is the worst and thus breeds productivity (...except when I went to Moonbean's with some friends to escape the misery). There is no place in the world where I've seen more sunrises. It's pretty much the only place on campus you can pull an all-nighter, surrounded by a ton of fellow sufferers. ...and somehow, it's always the same sufferers. You get to know all the characters without even knowing their names, and if you have some good friends who frequent Meyer with you, you give these characters nicknames (e.g. greasy-haired guy--after all, if he never leaves Meyer, when does he shower?--and various look-a-likes, such as someone who looked like Wolverine's brother in the X-Men movies). Of course we all laugh at these always-in-Meyerers, hypocritically never recognizing that we too belong to that miserable group of people. read more
