Unprofessional, Unreliable, and Shockingly Petty…read more
When I moved into my home, the previous owner left me the contact info for Ed Maybe of Bonoflo Irrigation, identifying him as the person who had maintained the irrigation system. Our first interaction was fine--I told Ed I was looking for fair, honest, and reliable service. He did some work, including upgrading the control unit (his recommendation), and I paid promptly, no questions asked. I never haggled or scrutinized the bill. I genuinely thought I had found someone dependable.
That changed when I noticed a potential leak and asked Ed to come by. At first, he agreed to take a look--but once he realized it would involve actual work, he disappeared. He stopped answering calls and texts entirely. Out of concern, I even messaged him asking if he was okay. Still nothing. After a week of silence, I finally tracked him down on Facebook, and only then did he respond--just to tell me to "find someone else."
I left an honest 1-star Google review based on my experience--and that's when things got even more unprofessional.
Ed messaged me on Facebook to call me "the worst and most difficult customer". Mind you, this was after I had paid promptly, never argued about pricing, and was simply asking for follow-through. Then, in a shockingly petty move, he left a 1-star Google review on my employer's business, which has absolutely nothing to do with the situation, and even hashtagged my employer's name in his public reply to my review.
It's hard to overstate how unprofessional and immature this behavior is. If you're looking for someone who will ghost you the minute the job isn't convenient--or lash out personally when held accountable--Bonoflo Irrigation might be the one. Otherwise, avoid.
For anyone in need of reliable irrigation service, I strongly recommend Durham Sprinkler People. Bryan has been the complete opposite of this experience: honest, professional, and responsive. He actually answers calls--and gets the work done
