Jenison Custom Builders - My roof having been completely blown off.

I would like to start this review by stating the privilege and entitlement that goes with any one…read morebusiness which is the "only game in town" is the game Jenison plays. Given little to no choice in vendors in small towns, you are often stuck to pay for overpriced services and materials and belittled, as a woman 'mansplained,' and then dismissed and told to "find another contractor" - when the company knows there aren't any - for asking questions and trying to discuss alternatives about concerns and about processes you may not understand. This was my experience with Jenison and their employee Justin after coming to them the day after my roof was blown off by NWS extreme weather squalls. I was told I had only one choice in roofing by their company, and only one choice in how I would like to design drainage. When I expressed my incredulity at leaving this twisted metal on my house and simple putting PVC over it and how I didn't understand that would work, I was told to find another contractor and hung up on by Justin. I was so dismayed, hurt and perplexed, I called the owner, who tried to explain the process to me but not without a great amount of frustration on her end, noting that I lived in a "mobile home park subdivision " and anger directed at me for not understanding their bid and wanting to, and the words, "We may provide an estimate for you, but we are under no obligation to do the work for you." She was unapologetic, not interested in helping a local Craig resident, or even trying to meet in the middle so I could I understand why I only had one choice in the work I wished to have done or hear my concerns. I am also an ADA person, and needed to more carefully process and understand their process and timetable and scope to which they didn't want to discuss. If you are female or ADA or not wealthy with a large remodel project, I recommend you look everywhere other than with Jenison and beg any other company than Jenison to help you with your needs, especially if you are under duress. I guess if you're the only game in town - or simply the big dog in town - you can act as nasty as you would like to - shit on or snarl at whomever you wish. This was my experience with Jenison, their employee Justin and their owner. One star, but I would not even rate it that for how I was made to feel and how patronized, marginalized and belittled I was. My customer experience with Justin was the worst experience - and follow up with the female family business owner - I have had ever with any building company in a project discussion and building project based on the experience and photo I posted. Every roofer I spoke to after said leaving that twisted metal on would be against all industry and safety standards. And they wanted to charge $3400 for 120 ft of seamless gutter with two downspouts. I hope this helps others and that they stay away from this company and try like hell to find another firm elsewhere. I'm certain, however, based on my treatment and being very distressed because my roof had been ripped off with winter approaching, that this company cares not at all about my experience and what I have to say about it. After all, I'm just a peon in a manufactured home subdivision in Craig, Colo - a nothing person with no huge dollar project. If you're interested in feeling like that, give them a call. Women and ADA people, do not use this business if you can help it. They are in it for the money and that's all and they have no interest in customer education of their products, or talking through challenges or questions or alternatives regarding your bid. It's their way or the highway. Also - this company needs ADA and sex discrimination training in their ranks.
