This led to some interesting…read morecultural exchanges, but it got annoying after a while to have to stop every so often and have to refill the tire. When I got home, I was finally able to take it in, and was told that I had a cracked wheel. The next day at work, I was griping to a couple friends about how much this was likely to cost and they both suggested that I go to a junkyard. I had always heard about junkyards, but had never been to one. When I checked the yellow pages, I was happy to see that there was one so close to me and decided to go check it out. Boy, am I glad I did! Price at Discount Tire - $155; price at Ryan's Junkyard - $85, plus a $10 rebate for giving them the cracked wheel. It was a pretty cool experience, too. It is in the ghetto (8 Mile & Wyoming) but if you don't mind that its a definite gold mine. All the people are super friendly and helpful - and trilingual. They've got a whole yard plus a couple warehouses of scrapped cars and salvaged parts, so you can find pretty much anything you need at a good price. Now that I know where this is, and am familiar with how it works, I will definitely go here whenever I need anything in the future.

Having your car in the shop is not easy and they know it. They had my car for less than a week and were the only ones who were able to diagnose my car, it needed a main computer and a transmission. I should have paid more notice to the bad reviews which seem to be accumulating. Truck had a…read moresolenoid pack replaced out of town when I was traveling. Getting back home the issue returned so I brought it here. They found the underlying issue, in the valve body but they also proceeded to charge me an additional $1,600 for a second new solenoid pack with only 400 km on it without even asking if I wanted to attempt the valve body fix first, by telling me the new pack was bad. They knew I just replaced the solenoid pack. After doing research and confronting them, their defense is that if the valve body fix didn't work I would have more charges to disassemble everything again if it in fact was the solenoid pack. They absolutely did not know if the new solenoid pack was bad or not, they absolutely took advantage of me! Absolutely I would have chanced that the new pack was good, which it is.

How could nobody have reviewed Midway Transmissions inside of Olsens service center yet?!? Thats…read moretransmission blasphemy! lol Ive had my vehicles in Midway a couple of times. The first vehicle, the cooling lines rotted. Midway spliced in new pieces for $70. A very fair deal, IMO. The next time it went in, the trans cooler lines sprung leaks elsewhere, about 2 years after the splice repair. They were rusted beyond repair. Midway installed dealer-ordered parts this time. I forget the price but when I called around and priced the job out, Midway came in the 2nd lowest... the 1st lowest was some place on 8 mile and all of my cars are equipped with "12 mile brakes" these days - the car hits 12 mile, the brakes slam on, and the car turns around!! haha This last time I had a vehicle in (different vehicle now), they rebuilt the transmission, were very reasonably priced and had it done the next afternoon... I was pretty impressed. Ive been driving on the rebuild transmission for over a month now (8 month, 8000 mile warranty) and havent had a problem. I felt when they were giving me the rebuild, they didnt nickel and dime me to death. And for that, I give a noble well-earned 5 yelp stars!
