This place at one time was really good, but it's slipping. Whoever was tending bar on 5/3, Bud you need a refresher course, how hard is it to make a Bloody Mary, 1st round both, not drinkable. Mine, 3/4 inch of black pepper at the bottom, one spring of inedible celery, no vodka to speak of and bitter, her's, transparent as in see through, no vodka or mixer. Get the waitress, she apologized, came back with 2 new ones, still total crap! How bloody hard is it to make a Bloody Mary, you people ever heard of mixer, what about olives. Zero stars for drinks. The people across from us, didn't drink theirs either. 3 Stars for the rare steak/frites-good, the Thai chicken salad (I don't know how they get paper thin slices of juicy chicken)-good, the fish tacos-good and the rotisserie chicken/mashed-edible(Comes with a side of nasty broth, why?) This review is based on 1 lunch meal. Tips: parking isn't that great, parking behind the restaurant is easier, or walking from the main Nordstroms area works too. Alcoholic drinks here are $$$$ I went here for lunch, kept it simple and ordered the Hyde Park chicken sandwich (I think that's the name at least). It was nice, chicken breast was tasty but nothing to scream about. It didn't say in the menu that it would come with mayo, and I loathe mayo, so I couldn't eat the top portion of the bun (this is a regular occurrence in restaurants, why the hell they don't lend this information, or have the server tell you is beyond me!). Anyhow this was a simple lunch, just had water and the sandwich, the fries were kind of ridiculous to me, just like an ant hill of grease. So all-in-all I ended spending $15 on a chicken breast. My company had burgers and all thought they were tasty, but overpriced. From looking at the dinner menu, I would agree, it's pricey. For a simple lunch it wasn't bad, but wouldn't consider it value for money. The server wasn't that great either, we all sat there with empty glasses for about an hour, guess he didn't think we were gonna be good tippers - stupid boy, I tip regardless :) read more

This was our first time here. We had the tuna steak, steak brazzo and the prime rib. The tuna steak was seared to a perfect rare temperature. The prime rib was tender, very flavorful and not too fatty. On the other hand the steak brazzo had an very overpowering vinegar taste too it and was a disappointment. I always enjoy coming here. The Country Club sandwich is a favorite, the deviled eggs were yummy with candied bacon on top, and the clam chowder special soup was good. The service is merely average, but I love the dark and relaxing room, and the location is perfect if you plan to check out Barnes and Noble or a movie across the street afterwards. Friday night family date with the toddler, we bounce back between here, Maggiano's, Madison's, Yard House, etc. J Alexander's is the only place that keeps us yearning. The manager Carl.........., such a wonderful man, wonderful manager, and a person who GENUINELY cares about the integrity of the restaurant, his staff, and the food. The staff are always friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. That's because the professionalism falls down from the head. Carl is doing a great job running this place. This place is so great! We came here early in the evening and was served by Amanda. She was so welcoming and accommodating. Grilled artichokes were recommended and they did not disappoint! We had their special app of Beef Carpaccio and we shared the fish tacos (blackened- not fried)- both were delicious. We finished with a chocolate cake dessert that was bigger than our heads and it was ridiculously good! We just wanted to point out how kind and professional our server was. Wonderful birthday lunch. Ate inside, nice atmosphere. Our waitress, Chanel was very sweet and efficient and recommended drinks and entrees. The lunch menu is limited but we had 3 great, and different, meals--crab dip for one, fried fish sandwich for me, and salmon burger for another. All the food was fabulous. This is one of our go to restaurants. However tonight we ordered take out and there was a wire in my chicken in the salad and almost choked. Inexcusable. I called the restaurant to tell them at 8:30 and was told the manager would be calling me. Never received a call. I could have been really injured if I couldn't get this wire out of my throat. I will not return until management steps up and does the customer service it should. No one should expect wires in their food. read more

I've always enjoyed my meals here. Have been coming for at least 10 years. However tonight has been somewhat of a disappointment. The veggie burger was extremely salty. When I asked the waiter to order a new one, they told me the burgers were pre-seasoned. So they were kind enough to offer me something else. Thai Kai salad was awesome. Everyone else's meal at our table was also good. So yes, I would definitely recommend and go back. This was just an off night I guess. read more

We had a reservation so we didn't have to wait to long.The restaurant is pretty large and pleasant to the eyes. Now for the food.I had the steak Brazzo (30 bucks) It came with mashed potatoes which was interesting because most of the other dishes offered sides for "an additional charge" My steak was tough and hard to get down. The mushroom sauce was "eh" My wife and a friend had the taco take was so spicy and hot my wife sent hers back. Our friend picked on it and then later complained of a heartburn.A couple of us had the hamburger which at first looks really big but turned out to be the muffin that was big, the burger was good.(My wife had the burger to. A cup of coffee is 2.95 there and an a Arnold Palmer was 3.50 i was told. I am not sure what the other folks will do but I won't go back there. read more

Grated we had to wait a bit due to so many people on holiday vacation, it was well worth the wait. nice ambiance, good selection of wines, lots of variety and quite a few specials to choose from. its not the quietest place though. As quickly as we were seated by the hostess, the server was ready to take our drink order. we split the spinach appetizer. pretty good. the chips weren't too salty like you find all to often at other places. the prime rib was perfect, the rack of ribs was yooj, the salmon was cooked to perfection (well seasoned), the Ahi tuna was pretty good. The chicken tacos were just okay, perhaps a but overcooked. the server allowed us to swap out sides for other side dishes. definitely go wit the mac and cheese and a fully loaded baked potato. the rest of the sides were good as well. Everything was served within a reasonable time frame. The server constantly refilled our beverages with out asking. We could not pass on the deserts. awesome chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. you can order one to feed a bunch. promise you wont go out starving. definitely a homerun. read more

They held our reservation 1 1/2 hours past the time we were supposed to arrive due to the fact that we were in an auto accident as we left our home to travel to dinner.
