Design Process ArchiUS followed a collaborative and iterative design process that involved me at every stage. Right from the beginning they listened to my needs, preferences, and vision for the house. They presented me with several sketches and models that captured the essence of what I wanted. We iterated the design dozens of time. ArchiUS was patient enough to go through the iterations until I was happy with the designs. They were open to feedback and suggestions all along. ArchiUS drove the permitting process as well which I really appreciate. Construction Management ArchiUS helped me find contractors, structural engineers, survey partners, landscape architects, and many more trades people. ArchiUS were closely involved during the construction phase. Changes in design were inevitable as we discovered new opportunities during the process. Team ArchiUS were creative, agile, and thorough with their changes in design. ArchiUS coordinated some difficult design decisions that had to be made along the way with the engineers, contractors, and other trades people. Finishes selection My project required us to make hundreds of decisions on finishes. Team ArchiUS helped create an inventory and timeline of what decisions needed to be made and by when. The mood boards reflected my taste and were a great starting point for me to start selections. On several occasions ArchiUS did not shy away from asking me to reconsider some of my selections which I really appreciate. Final Outcome I am very happy with the final outcome of the project. The house is beautiful, functional, and comfortable. It reflects my personality and style and suits my lifestyle and needs. It has everything I wanted and more, from the gorgeous kitchen, great outdoor space, cozy bedrooms, elegant bathrooms, and the landscaped garden. It is truly my dream home. Long before we commissioned Jinny for her services, we hired a contractor to redesign the front yard landscape. The contractor suggested that terraced retaining walls and wood stairs with railings would compliment the home. We found his vision to be agreeable, thus he began breaking ground. He assured us that we no longer needed to actively involve ourselves, and that every remaining aspect of the project would be handled and secured by him. Unfortunately, our faith in him was misguided and cost us. As he finished the project, we received a "Notice of Violation" via the city's construction department for lack of requisite building permits. Suffice it to say, we were confounded that the contractor proceeded and finished the job by questionable means. We had no recourse against the dubious contractor, but our luck began to turn when we discovered Jinny through a colleague of hers. The minute we sat down and briefed her of our vexing situation, and while observing her problem-solving acumen, we at last felt as though there was light at the end of the tunnel. She devised a clear and concise plan to remediate the issue with the city that would serve to ultimately close our project. Thrust into a less than ideal situation, her resolve instilled confidence, which was refreshing, especially in the wake of the consternation we experienced prior to meeting Jinny. She attacked our project head on, shouldering all of the responsibilities, including but not limited to -- site plan drawings and revisions, correspondence with city reviewers and inspectors, and maintaining a constant line of communication with us every step of the way. It was by virtue of her attentive nature, expert knowledge of her field, and relentless pursuit that we had at last obtained the city's approval and finalized our project. We cannot speak of Jinny Park highly enough. What I failed to mention is she not only delivers high caliber service, but she is always present, in the moment, whenever she engages with you, kindhearted, and a positive influence to work with! When we submitted for permitting by the City of Bellevue, they came back with ZERO revisions, and we had fully approved plans in just a few months. This shows how experienced and thoughtful they were when designing our home. This exceeded our timeline expectations by a couple of months. As far as working with them, we really enjoyed how they got to know me and my wife, and took our lifestyle/personality into the design of the home. We went from just talking about how we liked to live, do hand drawn sketches, to CAD drawings, improving the design all along the way. Once construction started, they were also involved in changes we made on site. And they were very fast in getting new drawings and plans to engineers while we were making changes. Also, once we were done with framing, John & Scott walked the home and caught where some things weren't done according to plan and we were able to fix things before it was too late.
