I am not sure what this place is trying to be. Looks like a pool hall but they have a stage, and a bar area where the food comes out. Quite a few tables also. I got a large curry chicken. It was good, but the meat was mostly bone, 6 chunks of dark meat, but one had no meat at all, just bone and skin. The rice with beans was a little over cooked, but tasted ok. Also came with fried plantains and cabbage, both were good. I got the wife a budget box (she claimed to not want anything) of jerk chicken and rice. We ordered the jerk chicken, oxtail entree, and rice and veggie bowl. The food was brought to our table in styrofoam to-go containers and the drinks were served in small plastic cups. The food was okay but not especially appetizing. I was hoping for spicy jerk chicken and flavorful vegetables but both lacked what much flavor. Stopped in as a fluke because it was in the same strip mall as the nail salon I'd just visited. Place seems simple and unpretentious. Ordered a simple fried fish sandwich with remoulade, lettuce & tomato and it was delicious. Because there was a 15 minute wait, the server brought me some corn bread to start off. Don't usually like sweet corn bread, figured I'd never eat all three pieces, but this stuff just got better and better as I ate it. It could pass for a simple dessert. I ordered lemonade without the slightest thought that it would be anything other than MinuteMaid, but it was clearly made by hand and was actually the best I've had in a restaurant in my very long life. My coworkers and I went here after work on a weeknight and were all pleased with our orders. It was a pretty clean place but had a dingy dj corner - maybe they turned into a club for the weekends!? I know they have a liquor license since I got a piña colada to drink. We ordered conch fritters and shrimp for appetizers. I had the small sample plate with oxtail, jerk pork and jerk chicken. The sides were cooked cabbage, rice and beans, and fried plantains. We also had coco bread which was awesome. This took about 15 minutes for our food to come out. Perfect taste every time! Great value for your money. Succulent meat, seasoned just enough to allow the savory meat flavor to meld with the herbs. Cabbage is dripping in butter, tender and crisp at the same time; it's not healthy veg but delicious and totally complements the rest of the meal. This was a really good find. When we walked in it was slightly confusing as to whether or not we were supposed to seat ourselves, which turns out you do. There are menus already on the tables but they need to be cleaned, especially during this time of COVID. Nonetheless we ordered jerk chicken plate and a jerk pork sandwich. The food was so freaking delicious. I will say my sandwich was room temp instead of hot but it was still really freaking good. It came with plantains which were also delicious but cold. The meat melts right off the bone into your mouth... the flavor you get from this dish is amazing. The price is super reasonable and you get a good amount. Ate here for the first time with my coworkers. I ordered the large sized Sample Trio for $15.50. It's a scoop of rice, side cabbage/carrots, a piece of some kind of fried banana, and 3 meat choices, all covered in jerk sauce. I chose the jerk pork, jerk chicken, and oxtail. I also had Jamaican fruit punch for my drink. My plate was delicious and it was very fulfilling. There's a lot of parking for everyone. This Jamaican place appears to be more of a sports bar or maybe a karaoke bar (because there was a large projector and a sound system set up) than the typical dine in restaurant. There's a billiards table on one side and a section that appears to be a possible karaoke bar with a dance floor. Our waiter (forgot to get his name, I think he was also the owner) was super friendly and provided awesome service. We also had a guy who played some live blues music while we were eating. The large projector was also showing Sundays football game so that was nice. The tables aren't the cleanest and the most stable, but the food made me not think about it anymore lol. If I had more time here in Brunswick, I would definitely come back. Anyone who hasn't tried Jamaican food yet, should definitely give it a try. read more

Based on a recommendation from a co-worker I decided to try the Jerk Shack. When I pulled up I wasn't sure if it was open, but I went up to the door and thankfully found that they were. I got a good recommendation from the lady behind the counter to try the sample trio plate. I could choose any three meats from the list. I picked jerk chicken, braised ox tail and curry goat with all cabbage, rather than rice. I drove back to the hotel to give it a try. The smell in the car ride over was heavenly. The aroma of curry and sweet and spicy flavors permeated the packaging and filled the rental car with deliciousness. I dont know how I held myself back from stopping on the side of the road and just scarfing it down. I remained calm, took a couple of deep curry filled breaths and drove on. I got to the hotel room and could barely contain myself. I ripped open the bag to expose the luscious contents contained within. Ugh, it sounds like a foodies romance novel. I started with a piece of jerk chicken and a piece of cabbage. The flavor of the chicken was good, but it was a little dry. I was also expecting the jerk flavor to be spicy (as in hot), but sadly it wasn't at all. Thankfully the cabbage was soft and moist and went well with the chicken. I went in for the goat curry and was really impressed with the flavor. Both, the goat and the oxtail meat was moist and filled with curry (the flavors combined a bit on the drive back to the hotel). It was very good. The goat was bony, but the meat was cooked to perfection, it just melted in my mouth. The ox tail was soft and flavorful. I grabbed the bull by the horns, actually in this case it would be the tail, and gnawed the meat from the bones. Absolutely love this restaurant. In the three weeks I have been in Georgia I have come here at least one or two times a week. The staff is incredibly friendly and talkative with their customers. The whole time my coworkers and I were waiting, we conversed with the team, instead it was updated on our order or what we were doing in Georgia. All of the staff has Jamaican accents too; we thought that was cool. The food was fresh and cooked perfectly. I have always been a fan of jerk chicken, and this may have been the best I have had. I did try the goat also, which was also very good. It's great to have a good restaurant close to the base because that chow hall food gets old real quick. This is a challenging review to write. I ordered the small jerk pork meal. Food came out fast and was very tasty. Portion size was large (small was more than I could eat). On the flip side, the restaurant is not even doing a minimum effort at COVID-19 protection. I did not find the pork in the dish but did not complain. The cooked cabbage was wonderful. Ordered coco bread and I am glad I don't live nearby because that is damn addictive it is so good. So, I've been in Brunswick a week. I have yet to find any restaurant better. I have never had Jamaican food that I'm necessarily crazy about, but this food right here! It was amazing. I loved the atmosphere and even if I had never stepped foot in the restaurant this food is definitely remarkable. My Togo order took awhile because they were pulling fresh goat, so while I waited I got a Jamaican and rum punch. The drink I got was small but it definitely packed a punch. Small strong drinks are definitely a plus for me. I only had one and I still felt the alcohol, not to mention, you couldn't even taste the alcohol and it wasn't even too sweet.
