The love affair kicked off there. I love the old buildings from the 60s and 70s that remind me of the ideals of those times, the big open spaces with raw concrete halfway sunk into the earth and lifting up through several floors of windows looking out on old churches covered these days in projection mapping and often lots of snow. The teachers and students I've met here have all been cool and civic minded and open minded and engaged. The newer buildings are labyrinthine like a good university should be with lots of light and a (possibly intentional) lack of internet access inside the classrooms.

The programs are interesting with lots of stage options. The school itself is also clean most times I've been to visit. They do have this collective lunch hour where everyone has a lunch break at the same time which is very inconvenient because then the whole school gets clogged. I'm sure it made sense when making the schedules, but it makes the school feel small. The only reason I didn't go here is because it's next to a cemetery, and that just felt kinda creepy to me. Plus I like being in the middle of downtown where there's lots to do. Vanier is just kinda far and there isn't much surrounding it. But that is a plus if you want to find a quiet place to study, they have plenty of those.

As a…read moreresult trainees here offer acupuncture to members of the public as a way to add to their practicum , which forms a crucial part of their studies. The clinic here is very well-run and appointments have to be made well in advance. This is not a drop-in clinic. Each session costs $20 a pop, in contrast to the $50-$80 you might have to pay for a practicing and certified acupuncturist. Students here are strictly monitored by their professors and teachers, all of whom are board certified. I've been coming here for a few years and you initial visit will involve you filling out a detailed questionnaire about your medical background and what ailment you are seeking the acupuncture for exactly. After that, you will discuss the questionnaire and your concerns with the trainee. All of them are very friendly but this is a French language CEGEP so if you're uni-lingual English, you might want to ask beforehand for someone bilingual so there is no risk of misunderstanding one another. Depending on what you are being treated for, your treatment may involve weekly visits ranging from 2-8 weeks. The treatment and the service I have received to date were nothing less than professional and friendly. And I didn't have to rob a bank to get it either!

This is an amazing, amazing school although the business students couldn't keep a bar afloat in a university ghetto (it is now the St-Hubert on Cote-des-Neiges). Fantastic library and the place teaches EVERYTHING. Plus it's loaded with history; my graduation for my master's degree was in the same rotunda out of which Pierre Elliott Trudeau graduated. He probably spent three long and painful hours of convocation staring at the same rather abstract crucifix. But the beautiful Art Deco library tower against a brilliant cerulean winter sky will always be in my memory.
