LC had stopped eating for more than three weeks and had lost 2 1/2 lbs, since an emergency vet visit 2 weeks prior to my visit. Oreo had an upper respiratory infection as well as a flea infestation. On both visits the staff were professional and friendly. They listened carefully to my explanations of my cat's needs and did appropriate testing to diagnose and treat both cats. LC has since been eating normally and is back to her happy energetic self. Oreo just began his treatment but is already doing better and even wanted to go outside briefly this morning. He isn't itching nearly as much and has a lot more energy. Overall I was very happy with both the standard of care, the promptness of care (easy to get an appointment), as well as the cleanliness of the facility. The prices weren't extreme either, as with some other local vet offices. My only tidbit of criticism was from my first visit with LC. Two different customers had young, male, pitbulls. The dogs are growling and barking loudly at each other and both owners had to put all their weight into their leashes to restrain them, and this went on for nearly 10 minutes while my LC was terrified in her pet carrier. Meanwhile, after one of the pitbulls was called back to an exam room, another client with a great dane walked in, and once again the pitbull went psycho aggressive. Honestly, it made me uncomfortable. On my visit with Oreo, since he might have been contagious, they had me wait in my car until they were ready to take him back to an exam room. I would advise that perhaps the clinic do the same with pitbulls or other unruly and potentially dangerous pets in the future. Overall my experiences were good and that last bit was why only 4 instead of 5 stars. Hopefully in the future I can give a full 5 star rating.

When it came time to pay, the antibiotics had already been filled and added to our bill. My husband was never given the option to have the prescription sent to an outside pharmacy. After we had already paid, we mentioned the cost and were told, "Oh yeah, it's cheaper pretty much anywhere else." That was incredibly frustrating to hear after the fact. If we had been given that option beforehand, we absolutely would have filled the prescription elsewhere. I understand veterinary clinics charge for the convenience of dispensing medications, and that's their right. My issue is that we weren't given a choice before the prescription was filled and we were charged. For many families, that price difference matters. In our case, it directly affected our grocery budget. Transparency goes a long way. Simply asking, "Would you like us to fill this here, or would you prefer we send the prescription to a pharmacy?" would have made all the difference. I hope they consider making that part of their process going forward. Although I don't think they will. I called and talked to someone who works there and she was PROUD to say that it's not something we advertise for customers.

We understand that other animals might be triaged more urgently, but an apology for the delay goes a long way. We got none, and it was suggested we follow up with our regular vet. Urgent care is for animals who cannot get in with their regular doctor.

Cedar Creek Animal Clinic is owned by Thrive Pet Care, which in turn is owned by a private equity firm, TSG Consumer Partners. TSG/Thrive bought up our local independent veterinarian in Tacoma, Columbia Veterinary Hospital several years ago and ran it into the ground. When Columbia Vet. closed, Thrive evidently sold/transferred their patient list to Cedar Creek, who started sending us reminders that it was time for our cats to get their check-ups, shots, etc. We long ago found another local vet when Columbia was floundering and have never been to Cedar Creek, so it was galling to keep receiving these personalized reminders in the mail. (For the record, there is a 0% chance that we would ever drive all the way to Port Orchard for veterinary care.) These mailings were quite literally going on for years until I finally called Cedar creek today. The representative who answered was nice enough to take us off their mailing list. The veterinary care at Cedar Creek may be wonderful for all I know, but if you feel like you're overpaying for your vet care, know that the money isn't going to the folks who work in Port Orchard--it's going to TSG Consumer Partners in Stamford, CT. Private equity is a cancer eating the world. PE turned its attention to veterinary clinics a few years ago because it realized that because people love their pets, it represents an opportunity for extortion. I'm not sure what the solution is, but I thought that I'd take a minute to demystify things for folks not in the know. Take care, all.

After her second visit, I went in personally to provide my own details so the account could be updated to reflect me as the primary contact. Unfortunately, it seems that change was never made. When I called today to follow up about a separate issue, they couldn't even find me in their system. To make matters worse, the staff member who answered the phone--Rachel--was shockingly rude. She kept cutting me off while I was trying to explain the issue. She even asked me why my husband was listed and the reason why he had previously brought Betsy in. Which I replied "because I was at work at the time". It was clear that customer service was not a priority for her. Between the mishandling of our account and the unprofessional behavior I encountered, we've decided to take our business elsewhere. If you care about being treated with respect and having your information handled properly, I'd strongly suggest finding a different veterinary clinic.

Took him here, they looked in his ear, got topical antibiotics. Didn't go away, went back, got another antiobiotic thing, didn't work, went back. Anyway, 3 visits, 3 exams, multiple antibiotics, no improvement, and then sent me home saying "maybe it's allergies?" (In just one ear??? ok buddy). Took my cat 5 minutes away to the other vet I go to, and it took the Dr 5 minutes to examine his ear and find a polyp or tumor in his middle ear has grown out past his ear drum into the outer ear. His ear drum is completely gone, and this is why there is discharge and bacteria. Needs surgery. I guess sending me home and saying it was allergies was pretty stupid. Good thing for my cat, I'm not. I would not recommend this place, especially considering this is not some freak occurrence in cats, it's a well known thing that happens and should have been diagnosed.

They wanted to do an eye exam for $150 and an ear exam for $79 dollars. And the exam was $76. That's over $300 dollars and we haven't even got a diagnosis or pre scrips for the meds. It would have cost us over $500 dollars for sure. After sitting out in the sun and getting all this bad news was I supposed to be happy. I would say not. All I did was express myself openly. The letter said we were we're no longer welcome in their facility. If that is how they treat their clientel that is pretty sad. This is a very pompous group of people and the arrogance protrudes and is apparent. I hope no one else has to go through what we went through! I would not recommend this vet clinic to anyone!

We've seen significant improvement in the strength and mobility of our shepherd mix under Dr. Heather's care. The location is outfitted with everything necessary for top flight rehab work, including a configurable set of obstacles/barriers, cavaletti, etc. all indoors. Pet owners are invited to stay with their pet during all services - which was a big change from our former rehab veterinarian. This has made a big difference to our dogs, one of whom has significant anxiety. Heather and Adam are great to work with and certainly make the human-interaction part of veterinary medicine as painless as possible. We highly recommend Ruff Day!

The vets here were able to keep my cat calm the entire time, from weighing him, to blood draws and urine samples. These people really know their cats and how to handle them with care. I left feeling optimistic about returning for ongoing care, never once talked feeling talked down to or upsold on unnecessary services. All this in under an hour. So thrilled I found you guys!
