We ordered two items that contained ground beef. The beef was spoiled, smelled really bad, and I tried tasting it and it was horrible. It was so bad I didn't even give it to the dog, it ended up completely in the trash, the whole order. We called to make reservations. A guy answered then placed us on a hold for a while so we hung up and called again. When we called back a female answered and we asked about reservations. She said just to come on in so we did. We were sat quickly as there's a lot of tables and a pretty good size restaurant. This is a truck stop located on the furthest north off the 15 by the speedway. We stopped in at peak lunch hour, and were happy to be immediately sat, ordered, and served within 20 minutes of our arrival. Definitely top notch service from a small local team. At a diner, you can expect stuff like this to happen, but you would also expect diner prices. We paid an upper class price for one of the lowest class diners I've ever been to in my life. we went to an upper Class restaurant later that evening and paid $25 more for our bill? The price difference between a diner and an upper class restaurant should be much larger than that. this establishment needs to change their prices. Here's my recommendations for the owners: just because you're next to a popular venue does not make it honest for you to charge upper class prices. Also, my recommendation to you is to train your staff. I don't blame them for what they probably just don't know. Train your staff to be more professional, and have better table and people manners. They seem like great people who are trying, but just haven't been trained. The staff and waitresses are the face of your company and they literally represent the chef and especially the owner. if your waitresses have bad table manners, I am only led to believe that the chef has bad food manners. and who knows what's happening behind-the-scenes. it makes it even tougher for me to enjoy the meal when I have the question in my mind, "do they even wash their hands using the bathroom?" also, my husband is pretty ticked off because he was expecting skillet meal options. The buffet line consisted of 2 kinds of eggs, regular and Denver scramble, biscuits and 2 kinds of gravy w/ and w/out sausage, 2 kinds of potatoes, cubed and shredded, sautéed peppers and onions, bacon, sausage links, pancakes, French toast, make your own waffle machine, and the salad bar was also open. The shredded potatoes were very stale and hard, so was the bacon. The cubed potatoes were soft and lacked texture. I actually really appreciated the fresh sautéed peppers and onions! Pork fritters were something I'd never had before, tasted similar to chicken fried steak but it was a little bland. But anyways back to the biscuits! Better biscuits and gravy on their buffet than I've gotten from "ordering" it at restaurants! The golden brown biscuits had a nice crust on the outside, buttery and fluffy inside. I never leave reviews, however after traveling home for 2 days and stopping for breakfast at Iron Skillet on New Year Eve the waitress deserves to be praised for her service and professionalism. While driving through Vegas I stopped here to eat. Their was only one waitress serving tables and I honestly cannot say how she was able to do it. At one point the table next me had the rudest customers. I would never treat or talk to anyone the way these customers treated this waitress! At no point did she react to their harsh words and actions.... Instead remained progressional the whole time waiting on them. Nice buffet away from the hustle of the casino buffets. Not nearly as many choices and they change based on the day of the week. It's close and convenient to the base. Military discount. I don't care for the dessert bar (the choices always seem dry to me) so I just stick to the hot bar and salad bar. I can always find something I like and you can view the selections first and if it doesn't agree with you, just order off the menu. Decided to give thee old Iron Skillet a try. I'm drawn to a buffet so I thought I'd give this one a try. My server was Jorden, who was very friendly and professional. She kept the glasses full and kept the dirty plates (skillets) off the table. Not super impressed with the food. The highlight for me was the Pork Roast (after covering it in a white gravy). Everything else was just so-so. With that being said, they do have a great salad bar! Lots of fresh ingredients and toppings. I focused my remaining stomach space and effort on the salad bar. As others before me have mentioned, the salad bar is a bit challenging when attempting to reach the upper selections. Basically, there is a glass window that you need to reach under and then over the salad bar lower sections to reach those top ingredients (see photo). There is a skill set needed to accomplish this upper-level salad bar extraction, but with patience and focus, most anyone can be successful. They have a breakfast buffet but when inspecting that the next morning, it was a bit small and not really appealing. I'll be back on my next trip through Vegas just to see what other things they have available. All-in-all, it was a-okay for the price. Two people for the evening buffet ran a bit over $26.49. They had a special listed that included your drink for $21. Service was nice and the hostess have us a big greeting at the door. We'll have to try it again when we are here for Nascar. This little truck stop diner is great! They serve typical diner fare and comfort food. I've been here a couple of times, usually on my way out of town on a camping or hunting trip. The food is delicious and portions are huge, as we usually have to take leftovers to go. My personal favorite is the chicken fried chicken - you can even make it a double order for an additional $2.99! They also have a buffet during lunch and dinner, but I have not tried it. Looks decent for $10.99 though. The staff here is nice and I've never had a problem with our orders or having our drinks refilled. The food comes out hot and fresh, and fairly soon after you order. It does get a little crowded here on weekend mornings or when there are events at the Speedway so plan accordingly. read more
