The IFB was established many moons ago in Dublin but when dear old Eire hit its last wave of recession the film board we mercilessly cut the bitch out of our lives as iff entertainment was banned during economic downturn. The story goes that when The Crying came won its famous Oscar in 1993 a particular minister of the Dail, after a couple of glasses of wine, was so enamored with our win that he proposed we re-establish the board.
He kept his promise, and although we may once again lose our dear film board thanks to an Bord Snip nua, it has done a lot for Irish cinema.
Except for putting that wanker Glen Hansard on the Oscar stage.
