AVOID. ZERO STARS!
17 October 2025, I left my white Canada Goose parka (approx. $2,600 replacement value) with "Dry Clean Here Now" via my local post office. This jacket was a splurge and a once-in-a-lifetime purchase of such quality that I expected it to last a lifetime.
When I returned on 1 November 2025, I discovered from the delivery driver--not the company--that the black buttons had melted during cleaning onto the white jacket and into the machine, supposedly ruining both the jacket and their machine. Ipswich Dry Cleaners did not contact me about this; I only became aware because I happened to be at the post office at the time. A simple Google search led me to Ipswich Dry Cleaners and the owner's email address. I was hopeful that this situation could be resolved, as dry cleaners are generally expected to have insurance for such mishaps.
I emailed the owner, Libby Rawlings, who responded promptly and initially advised that the jacket would be sent to the Dry Cleaning Institute of Australia to determine what had gone wrong. After several weeks of delays and being told it would be "chased up," I contacted the Institute myself and was advised that Ipswich Dry Cleaners are not members of the Dry Cleaning Institute of Australia and had not been contacted regarding my jacket. I was perplexed by this information. I also wonder where my jacket ended up and why I have never been able to see it or receive any photos.
Since November 2025, I have exchanged 39 emails with Libby Rawlings. After months of back and forth, and after providing recent photos showing my jacket fully intact, she agreed in writing to provide $1,000 compensation for the damaged jacket. While this does not reflect the full replacement value, I accepted it as I no longer had the receipt and simply wanted the matter resolved. I provided my bank details as requested.
For weeks, I was told the payment would be made "this Thursday," then "I'll check with my bookkeeper," yet no payment has been made. As of 5 March 2026, I still had no jacket, no compensation, and had been repeatedly misled.
Based on my experience and other customer reviews I have seen, this business appears to have a history of issues with lost or damaged items.
UPDATE - 13 March 2026:
Libby Rawlings contacted me after this review was posted and advised that payment would be made. As of 13 March, I had still not received the payment, and my jacket remained in their possession.
UPDATE - 17 March 2026: (152 days later)
As of today, I have still not received any payment, and my jacket remains with Ipswich Dry Cleaners. Despite repeated assurances from Libby Rawlings, the situation remains unresolved.
Based on my experience, this business shows a complete lack of accountability and honesty when things go wrong. Extremely disappointing service. If I could give zero stars, I would. read more
