From Kelly's help navigating insurance to Emma and Stormy making me laugh through "awkward" appointment moments, Alexa's willingness to answer my never ending questions and all the support from the lovely ladies at the ReCenter, it has been a wonderful experience. It's clear the care comes from the top down. Dr. Andrews checked on me several times between appointments, including a call the night after my surgery. I could not be more grateful. When I brought up my concerns, he dismissed them, making me feel unheard and frustrated. After a year of struggling, I sought a second opinion. Coming out as transgender is hard enough, but having a surgeon make you feel comfortable about getting top surgery takes it to another level. He is professional, talented, and kind. I opted for a procedure similar to "keyhole", but it did involve liposuction to one breast due to its size. My recovery was faster than most and I focused on my diet and fitness immediately, as I was looking for a more masculine appearance. With more confidence and a steady diet, I lost 15lbs post-op! It's a journey and I am so glad I found Dr. Rashid - I could HUG him! My only advice for the office would be to always document pronouns and preferred name upon first visit - even if their drivers license and insurance states differently. It makes you feel more comfortable and accepted by doing so! With little things, this office can pave the way and be a strong example for other surgeons in the future!
