Among our party of four, we had a good sampling of the food, including two variety platters and two chicken dishes. My yassa chicken was decent quality meat, but the sauce was very one-note and lemony. My friends with the variety platters fared better as they were able to have a bunch of different flavors and textures, whereas mine just got boring after time. Do note they have a number of vegetarian options. It was lovely to be outside; we were there during a jazz festival and a few live bands came through. Though the other restaurants were lively, we were the only customers at ours-- surprisingly, service was super slow. The woman was annoyed when we asked for the bill. The inside looks wild with lots of paintings on the wall. The bathroom is okay. A cheap and filling meal, but think I could have found a better spot in the area with some research.

I love African food & their restaurants but sometimes you crave a restaurant experience while there's a lack there of. Not a Kanodou! You enter a nice interior with dimmed lights that put you at ease & convey intimacy. The restaurant owner Mustafa was the perfect host: he answered every question with a kindness and a smile. He recommended terrific meals to us. The service overall deserves a 10/10, the best I've gotten in an African restaurant thus far. Now comes what you're most interested in: the food & the drinks! I'm not exaggerating when I say heavenly! The juice mocktail was one of the best I've tasted thus far and don't let me start on the Lamb mafe: first time and it was my best choice. The lamb melted in my mouth, this together with a well balanced peanut sauce. Yes! African food in a cozy, quality, intimate & rich setting: the perfect combination!

At least some of the people running it are from Senegal, and the whole fish I ordered was at least as good as my local Senegalese restaurant in the U.S. The vegetable potage I ordered was excellent and not too greasy. Kanadou also had a decent selection of drinks.
